From Comrade Feinstein's Bill: Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include: Background check of owner and any transferee; Type and serial number of the firearm; Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint; Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration That makes the lil' hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Sounds like a small step towards total confiscation. I hope this bill gets rejected.

If they only bumped the price up $75, not bad. The 6920MP I bought a while ago for a grand is now being listed with a buy it now price on gunbroker for $3460. Wow.

Good luck on finding one now. Anything remotely resembling an AR in .223 or .556 is sold out everywhere. You may try something like gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com. If you do happen to find one, the next challenge will be finding ammo.

Ammo prices have already started to creep up. A few days ago a case of Wolf 7.62 was $220 shipped. Today it's $250. The panic buying has begun.

As far as cheap sights are concerned, there are a lot of people on arfcom that rant and rave about Primary Arm's micro dot. I've got one on my build and I love it. It's a great Aimpoint knock off for a fraction of the cost. My Colt 6920 has an Eotech 512 which I also like; but like Jarhead said, it's a matter of personal preference and budget. You can spend as much or as little as you want on your rifle. Just do what fits your needs whether it's for home defense, plinking, hog hunting, SHTF, etc.

I received my Interarms AK-47 from Atlantic Firearms last week. Great customer service, fast shipping. I'm not exactly M2-level/an AK expert, but my first impressions of the rifle was that I made a good choice. Fit and finish were excellent. No front sight cant, no mag wobble with the surplus steel mag supplied. Barrel is from Green Mountain and receiver is marked with Elk River, wood furniture is surplus but in great shape. Shot about 150 rounds of Wolf 123 gr with zero issues in a 25yd range. Overall, very happy with the purchase. On another note, I just started my AR build much to my wife's chagrin. I told her it was going to be for her but she was less than thrilled. I ended up going with a BCM BCG, PSA M4 16" Upper with YHM rail, PSA LPK and Gadsden Lower: They had free shipping and the prices were just too good not to pass up.

Thanks for the info! I understand I'll only get $39/day, but I'm wondering if my orders should state proportional rate rather than GMR since there are some currently at PIT receiving proportional. Unfortunately, the MPE that cut my amendments does not have a POC for someone that can fix it. They said they need something in writing that states I should receive the proportional rate rather than GMR.

Yeah, but that's with a non-A correct? According to RND lodging, we will not be getting a non-A. I'm under the impression that if the orders state GMR, that is what we get even if we choose to live off base w/out a non-A. I can deal with proportional rate, but if it's going to be GMR only, I'm going to have to move the Off-Base Commander ahead to the next base.

For those of you that are currently there, what meal rate is on your orders? I just got an amendment to my PCS orders and on the back it states : "All gov't meals and loding are available and directed (Gov't rate)." I'm assuming I'll only get $11.55/day for the entire time, or are any of you getting PMR? We are looking at staying off base due to pets, but with the GMR, I may have to rethink our plans.

For those that carry, do any of you have any experience with Bersa?

As far as the C-17 is concerned, the only specific time I've ever seen is for PMCR in which we're supposed to get 1 hr off (up to 96 hrs) for every 3 hrs we spend off station. Granted this can be waived. I haven't seen anything specific to time zone crossings though.
