Apology Letter to Finance
THIS. If it gets returned once, fine. On the second return, go and talk to someone face to face. There is zero excuse on his part (or on finance to be fair) for it to have been returned 10 times. AF members, officers in particular, need to stop hiding behind email and actually be ok with talking face to face when there is a problem. Theres nothing wrong with being firm (STS) when the finance dudes screw up but being a dick about it won't get you anywhere fast. Our email servers went down for several days during the AFNET migration and it was astounding to watch the people who had no clue what to do when they couldn't "lead" by email.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
That's a VERY bold statement...I don't know that either have any qualities redeeming enough to overcome the negatives

Latest Movies
I keep hearing this and want to believe it... But it just looks like such a terrible movie. Many of my friends have said it was the best Marvel movie so far, which I think is a very high claim. I might have to just give it a chance and see it

Safety of Flight/Crew Rest
Totally agree. I'm sure there is some scenario crazy enough that might dictate calling crew rest, but realistically, this is true.

Equating military service with Heroism.
IMHO if everyone (obviously there are going to be exemptions and such) served in some capacity in the military, then everyone would have a much more vested interest in preserving the liberty and identity of our nation...as it stands now it's all about handouts and entitlements. I know I'm beating the example to death but I think Israel is a shining example of what I'm talking about

I honestly think if there were "mandatory service" vs a "draft" people's opinions wouldn't be so negative on the whole. While the draft had the possibility of tagging anyone, not everyone had to go. With mandatory service, everyone would be involved. Obviously at first there would be severe backlash from those who want nothing to do with the military, but on the whole I think our national pride, cohesiveness, and the like would increase greatly. Again, Israel is a great example

Equating military service with Heroism.
Totally agree with this. I really think there should be mandatory service for everyone (aka exactly what Israel does, it's worked pretty darn well for them).

FYSA, the military freebies aren't the ones that are pulling our society into the gutter... Good compensation for being away from families, deployments, etc...not seeing an issue (although I'm not ignorant that everyone doesn't have that experience in the military) Um...today anyone, in any job, who is smart about finances and lives below their means can make a ton of money. That's the point of being smart about finances and living below your means... Teachers, regardless of where, have super low salary (IMO underpaid, but that's an entirely different discussion). Not a good example to compare military pay to teacher pay when a manager at the Golden Arches can make more than many teachers

Iraq in state of emergency - Mosul overrun by militants; government flees;
As previously mentioned, I think the chip may be located somewhere other than your shoulder I mean exactly what I said...the risk of something going wrong vs the procedure going as intended are very low. Are you trying to say that 100 deaths per year is a large statistic? I'm not trying to downplay that there IS a risk...but it's not a large risk, especially for a medical procedure. I'm done with the dick talk, if you don't want it for your kids or are upset that your parents chose it for you, so be it. Let's move on

IFS (Initial Flight Screening) information
Wow...I'd consider that a win for you big time. The FBO won't be actively trying to kick you out like Doss would!

Gun Talk
This over and over again. The news as of now seems to be headed in a great direction but I am going to be very interested to see what direction the higher courts take it

Iraq in state of emergency - Mosul overrun by militants; government flees;
Not to get too far of topic, but... The risks are most definitely low. It doesn't matter what timeframe those incidents happened, look at total number of people who had it performed with zero incidents to number with incident. Basic statistics says that's a pretty good risk factor. As for why people have it done, I can't and won't speak for every person but it's enough to say that there are plenty of good reasons OTHER than "everyone else does it" that parents choose to have this done. There's nothing wrong with it one way or another, but don't lump everyone into one big pot because of some apparent chip on your shoulder

CSO drop nights
It was probably a Talon II EWO and they either a) didn't have the heart to tell him he was gonna be an EWO or b) screwed up and put the wrong crew position. Knowing PCola, it's most likely the latter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

American Flag Shoulder Patch Out of Regs?!?!
For me, wearing the flag on my shoulder is something of personal pride. I understand the regs and before coming to AFSOC I was in wings that chose to wear their patch instead of Old Glory. It didn't diminish the pride that I have for it in any way whatsoever, but I can understand different wings wearing different patches. BL, as long as I know how much it means to me personally, I'm ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Promotion and PRF Information
I'm sure he wants to get rid of it completely...but, for example, at my previous squadron -- during in processing, there was an "officer profile" to fill out with the execs. One of the lines on there was AAD - started/completed/not started Even if it's not on the SURF, the "culture" of AAD's I fear will remain among Sq/OG/Wg CC's for a long time; at least until the next CSAF changes the policy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gun Talk
Saw that last night and couldn't stop laughing. I like how for rifles it says in 2012 there were 320 people killed (homicides) with rifles and that they are mostly used for hunting. I think more people are probably beaten/stabbed to death in Chicago before lunch than that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Promotion and PRF Information
If you think that will change anything, you're only fooling yourself. AAD's may be masked for the actual board, but strats w/in the squadron and the like will continue to be effected by AAD box checking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
