As long as the heavy guys teaching T-38s know their place it shouldn’t be the end of the world. Their credibility stops fairly early in formation, it’s just the way it is. cue up the questions of doing a T-38 white jet tour then moving on to fighters, which is a terrible idea but somebody is going to ask it.

Off the top of my head? I got sick while a GS and they were able to tie it to military service, therefore I could be put on orders to get paid and save the house. Military pay is sometimes better than GS, and has a huge tax break. I also think the GS system sucks in general, pay isn't that great, taxes are high, medical is just OK and the retirement (FERS) is terrible.
