I wonder how he's going to take the Mustache March contest from the CSAF? He was harassing crews (especially Officers) at Manas years ago to shave off their staches and sideburns. Someone printed out Gen Olds photo and posted it around Ops. He used to get pissed and tear them down.

I was deployed the day he retired and Gen Hobbins took over USAFE. I never saw a Doc commercial again on AFN.

The guy that took over as 41 AS/CC is one of the best leaders (career Herk driver/Patch) I've ever worked with. They're in great hands.

With the lowest ASVAB entry requirements and taking folks in with GED's (the Marines won't accept GED's and the USAF only a few a year) what do you expect?
Tons of senior leaders in AMC have Q-3's. Those are the folks who would be pissy if this actually became a rule.
The Enlisted educational world is a 180 from the Officer one. You could have a PhD, however the SMSgt/CMSgt board looks at a CCAF in "your career field" as more board points than a undergrad in Aeronautical Engineering. Most people who enlist with a degree for some reason are required to take a speech class to finish their CCAF. A lot of them refuse on the grounds they are pissed that their undergrad/grad degree doesn't just award them a CCAF. If you don't have a CCAF/PME done by your first TIG eligible EPR as a MSgt, you won't get the Senior Rater Endorsement. Without that, good luck at getting a decent board score to be competitive for SMSgt. Some of the box checking from the Officer world is spilling over in the Enlisted world. From signing up for the easiest undergrad/grad degree from a for-profit school to knocking out PME as early as possible to send a "positive" message to the board.
So will the current BAH rates freeze (due to debt protection), or will they undo the debt protection and lower them next year for everyone?

And every other 11M is in the same boat, which includes the guys that spent one assignment at Pope or McConnell then to RPA's. At least Barney drivers got one good assignment out of it.
C-17's have a pretty good base selection, minus the FTU at Altus (McGuire, McChord, Charleston, Hickam, McGuire, Dover, Travis, Elmendorf)
An interesting note, the squadron that the crew members on Shell 77 were assigned to the 93 ARS, which are the Pegasus. That's the same squadron that was the KC-135 CCTS school at Castle.
