Are you arguing that 94-yr old Granny shouldn't be supported by the government's healthcare or at all, i.e., with family money? If it's the government, who gets to decide life or death for Granny? If it's ok to deny Granny continued care because of the cost, then, logically to me anyway, why do younger people, including kids, who have life=debilitating disease/injury/etc, get government coverage as you indicated? QOL is QOL. Money is money. Which goes back to who makes those decisions. If the gubmint is fubared on everything else, I don't want somebody faceless/nameless to make those decisions for me/mine. As to your father's not wanting to give up his promised Medicare; 1) he was promised it at whatever benefit to him by the government in return for his taxes, is he really wrong to expect a commitment to be honored? Which furthers my point that the government making broad brush social commitments is evil, e.g. Obamacare. It has been historically impossible to take something away from the population once it's been "given." and 2) Would you be ok with a unilateral drastic change to Tricare along the lines you say your father does regarding Medicare? You signed up with an understanding/agreement. Perspectives change along life's timeline and I don't think it's Uncle Sam's prerogative to decide when I've been around long enough. I should. Shenanigans = a duck? If you, personally, were in the crosshairs of a federal investigation with these issues, would you be good with it?

I've learned to not predict the future - after Hillary coming back from the dead after her first loss to Obama; Obama's re-election after a completely lackluster, especially regarding economic growth which was nil to barely registering, yet he did win. So, I don't predict an auto-Trump win in 2020. But, once was enough since it kept Hillary out and exposed some of the shenanigans going on with some of the tools of power. However, my point/reason for even being on this thread is related: As the meat servos continue to get younger and more inexperienced by the day as already gained/paid for experience flows out the exit and have to operate equipment that gets older and more worn out on every one of those same days, the number of fireballs on Day/Nights 1 and 2 are going to mimic a pretty good 4th of July event. And we won't have the time or industrial capability, most likely, to refill those losses and the subsequent peace talks are likely to be a tad uncomfortable for our side. Therefore, keeping the experience IS a thing for combat capability. But, JCS truly doesn't care.* *I know, buzzkill for the intended humor...

If Obama's policies/actions were so 'very centrist,' he could've gotten buy-in with Congress albeit with compromises as is the nature of politics. But once he lost his super-majority in the Senate, he went full-on "pen and a phone." Which makes it easy to undo as is happening presently. Think for just a minute - Why did Trump beat 16 conventional GOP candidates and a conventional Democrat like Hillary? Why did/does a GOP-led Congress put up with a special prosecutor investigating this President? Threaten the status quo beast and it's gravy train and the reaction is swift.
