I don't think I'll be motivated about picking up another 1911 until Texas gets open carry, which hopefully is soon...

Met one of his daughters (Deborah Robertson Bardsley) years ago at a Senate Select Committee on POW-MIA Affairs, she was very active in the POW/MIA community back in the early 1990s. Unfortunately, she passed away a few years later from influenza-pneumonia never knowing what happened to her father. You may also remember back in 1990 this photo appeared in the press with the claims it was Robertson (left) with Air Force Major Albro Lundy, Jr. (center) and Navy Lieutenant Larry Stevens (right)... Turned out to be a doctored photo of Russian migrant farmers (source). Like Jughead, at this point most like all we can hope for is the ID and return of his remains. I've actually been to the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (now Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency) lab on Hickam, the work that organization is doing is impressive, but they can only focus on the remains that have been found or handed over which hasn't happened in Robertson's case. Until then, all we can do is hope... Cheers! M2

Well done! I badly want a TRP, but with a son getting ready to go to college in the fall, it'll have to wait! That said, if I sold the four Springfield 1911s I already have, I could afford one. I just can't bring myself to do that! Cheers! M2
  7. I understand your logic, and agree this will turn into a giant monkey fuck; but those who died trying to find Bergdahl after he deserted and their families earned the right for a tribunal to examine Bergdahl's actions. Bergdahl intentional left his post and likely aided the enemy. At least six of his comrades of the 1/501 PIR died during the frantic search to find him. Letting him off scot free should not be an option...
  8. Yep...here are the Fox blondes talking about it... Bergdahl to be charged with desertion, officials say

Bleh. The XD-S has been out for ages. Hell, even Taurus makes a decent single-stack 9mm (the Slim). Glock is touting this as something new and special, which it isn't...
  11. As women down here in Texas would say..."bless his heart!" And, as anyone who lives in Texas knows, that ain't a compliment!

  13. Yep. It was the result of a forum cleanup, but we are working to recover the thread. Stay tuned, we'll keep everyone posted; but be prepared that it may be unrecoverable...

Back when the AF required photos in officer records, a few of the airmen in the CBPO (pre-MPF) decided to show me their "secret stash" of replaced photos. They kept ones that we obviously funny to look at or had glaring errors on them (missing collar brass, badges on the wrong side, etc.). That motivated me even more to closely examine my official photograph before handing it over to be placed in my records. But since the requirement has been removed, I really don't see a huge market for this service. Also, any digital manipulation of a photo will probably not go over well with a board. I recall hearing about an Army O-6 who had his official photo (a full length one) taken from the ceiling while he was lying down. It was a feeble attempt to hide his "breadth" and somehow it was discovered (probably because it was blatantly obvious!). It didn't do him any favors. Lastly, how tough is it to get a new photo done? I had to do so numerous times during my career, and it was never a big deal...
