Back when the AF required photos in officer records, a few of the airmen in the CBPO (pre-MPF) decided to show me their "secret stash" of replaced photos. They kept ones that we obviously funny to look at or had glaring errors on them (missing collar brass, badges on the wrong side, etc.). That motivated me even more to closely examine my official photograph before handing it over to be placed in my records. But since the requirement has been removed, I really don't see a huge market for this service. Also, any digital manipulation of a photo will probably not go over well with a board. I recall hearing about an Army O-6 who had his official photo (a full length one) taken from the ceiling while he was lying down. It was a feeble attempt to hide his "breadth" and somehow it was discovered (probably because it was blatantly obvious!). It didn't do him any favors. Lastly, how tough is it to get a new photo done? I had to do so numerous times during my career, and it was never a big deal...

Yep, used to mountain bike in the back country of Govt Canyon until the joints could no longer take the punishment. The sad thing is Geronimo Air Park is not too far away if he had a mechanical issue... An update...they still aren't identiying the pilot but most likely it was the owner...

Fuck yeah! On another happy note, this is my 17-yr-old son constantly hitting a basketball-sized gong at 500 yards last Saturday using a bud's (who is spotting him) .223 bolt action Savage.

My latest acquisition, a Ruger American Rimfire in .22LR... Bought barely used with four 10/22 mags, scope, bipod and case. Can't wait to shoot it. Heard great things about these rifles! Cheers! M2

For one, it's the wrong caliber for an AK! Headspace is the distance from the bolt face to the chamber face (end of the barrel). When the weapon is fired, the pressure forces the barrel out and up against the barrel pin. If the barrel is not forced up against the pin, when it's fired, the headspace will change and cause a very bad situation. Midway (and many other places) sell "go/no go" gauges to make sure the headspace is good. Yeah, the look the same to me as well; but If the action closes with the first gage inserted, then the firearm is within acceptable minimum headspace dimensions. If the action closes with the second gage inserted, then the firearm may not be within acceptable maximum headspace dimensions and should be examined further by a knowledgeable gunsmith. Most builders use both to make sure it's good-to-go!
