Since you have a habit of talking about things you're not knowledgeable on, I'll do you the favor and correct you on this one as well. I see you're trying to justify the votes your girl got in this state, but I can tell you as a resident that no cowboy hat-wearing, truck-driving Texan placed a vote for her and I challenge you to back up that claim with facts. If you look at the popular vote in Texas, the only blue counties are mainly those along the Mexican border and can be attributed to the large illegal population that resides there. The rest was overwhelmingly Trump. Texas was a conservative Democratic stronghold for many years. For approximately 100 years from after Reconstruction until the 1990s, the Democrats dominated Texas politics. Now Republicans control all statewide Texas offices, to include the governor and both houses of the state legislature, and have a majority in the Texas congressional delegation. This makes Texas one of the most Republican states in the U.S. Urban areas like Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio are still largely Democrats; but suburbs of these cities remain heavily Republican. So your claim that "cowboy hat-wearing, truck-driving Texans" voted for Hillary are pure fantasy. It's the typical liberal and welfare-recipient votes that supported her in many other states.- The Next President is...
Bullshit. No born-and-bred proud Texan would ever vote for Hillary. All her votes came from those California rejects living in Austin, or illegals wanting free handouts. You're just quibbling.- Merry Christmas! (NSFW)
Just want to bump this thread to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and all the best in 2017! As one who hung up the uniform over ten years ago (but still works within the DoD), I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all those serving. Your sacrifice is appreciated, and if by chance you are separated from friends an family today, may you stay safe and return home soon!- The Next President is...
As HU&W said, the statistic is meaningless when corrected for population; so here are those numbers... Population of Texas = 26.96 million (2014) Population of Massachusetts = 6.745 million (2014) Population of Califonia = 38.8 million (2014) Population of Alabama = 4.849 million (2014)- NFL Ratings are Way Down

Right, an agency with anywhere between 30,000–40,000 employees and an annual estimated budget of $10.8 billion (2013) is a "sinking ship!" And Keith Alexander had every chance to fix things at NSA during his tenure as director (which lasted nearly nine years). It's only been two-and-a-half years since his departure, I assure you that this phenomenon didn't suddenly occur during that short duration. I ain't buying it...- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Yes, it is not an exactly scenario but it's a lot better than standing at the range and taking your time shooting at paper targets. At least IDPA makes you move through the course and engage targets. It will give you a more realistic understanding of your capabilities (and lack thereof) than just range shooting. On a different note, picked up two Heritage Rough Rider 6.5" .22LR single-action revolvers during the Academy Black Friday sale yesterday. They were only $99 each but I had to roll out of bed at 4am to get in line; but I've always wanted one of these and thought they'd make good companion pieces to the Henry Frontier I picked up a few weeks ago... Unfortunately, few people get the opportunity to actually shoot using a flashlight. I can tell you it is not as easy as it appears. I have never been a huge fan of gun-mounted lights as they give the bad guy a target to shoot out, but after participating in an exercise that involved shooting at targets with pistols at night while moving, I found a weapons light was the better set-up. Optimally, I go with what the police department here trains on, which is both. I now have a TLR on the closest pistol to me where I sleep (a Springfield XD-45) but also a 600 lumen flashlight. I like having options...- Gun Talk
Speaking of range fun, got to participate in another night shoot south of San Antonio last weekend. While we were waiting on it to get dark, I decided to dig out the Yugo SKS and launch the M68 practice grenade for everyone's entertainment!- Gun Talk
Agreed, while classes help, you're only going to get proficient by shooting as much as you can. And I don't mean standing at the range, aiming for three minutes and then pulling the trigger. That's fun for sport but not practical for a SHTF situation. I recommend IDPA or similar events that simulate self-defense scenarios and real life encounters. You'll find a huge difference when you're "scootin' and shootin'" and that center ring shots are not necessarily necessary in a life-or-death situation. IDPA utilizes cover and concealment as well as off-hand scenarios that will push your limits as a shooter. Luckily, while some are there to compete, many participate in such events simply to become better shooters! Here is a video of some of the scenarios IDPA utilizes at a range not far north of Randolph just to give you an idea of how their events work...
