Lots of weird shit on that forum! But honestly, there was a guy with the Wolfhounds at Ramstein back in the late 90s who had a picture of him and his kid as the background on his computer in the squadron. "Someone" did the same thing to the pic, and set it as the new background. I think they password-protected it or something, as he couldn't figure out how to swap it back. It was pretty hilarious...

That's ridiculous, I had a 1100cc Honda sport-tourer while at Ramstein back in the late 90s and it wasn't anywhere near that much. I paid something like $75/mo for full coverage, and was surprised when it really didn't drop much when we moved to Texas. I know Harleys are popular in Europe, and I know firsthand how much of a blast it is to ride a bike there (tell him to check out the Pfalzwald southeast of Kaiserslautern for some great nearby riding); but there's no way I pay would that much to insure a motorcycle! Just to note, when I was stationed in the UK in the early 80s I did buy British insurance for it. He might check the places just outside base to see if they can provide coverage at a more reasonable rate. Technically, USAA does insure motorcycles. It is through Progressive, but it is through them and I have two on my policy. You pay for them when you pay for your other vehicles and what not, but it is through USAA... Cheers! M2

Wow, this is what happens when you award the contract to the lowest bidder... Crane Fails in Placing Plane on Pedestal at Former Alameda Naval Air Station
  9. Actually, "will my religion effect my chances of being selected for UPT?" is something you'll have to ask yourself! First, how devout are you? Do you perform Ṣalāt five times a day? What about Sawm? Would you be considered exempt because you are a "soldier?" What about the increased study and contemplation during the last ten nights of Ramadan? Will you perform a hajj during your service? I am far from an expert on Islam, but I do know it has rituals and practices as most religions do. While the service does its best to allow for any and all practices of faith, there are obvious limitations as I am sure you can imagine. That said, you won't be the first Muslim pilot in the USAF. It's all a matter of priorities, abilities and luck! Cheers! M2
  10. From the AFA reporting on this... The 390 BG (H) "Square-J" flew out of Parham (a.k.a. RAF Framlingham) during the war, and I used to visit the museum in the old control tower when I was stationed at Bentwaters in the early 80s... Sadly enough, there is a section of the museum's website dedicated to the return of the Liberty Belle to the UK back in 2008 here. Even sadder to read that had emergency equipment been able to reach the aircraft, she could have been saved. God bless her! Cheers! M2
  11. Fair enough, I've corrected the title (but obviously the article titles remain as reported). Cheers! M2
  12. Agreed. A tragic loss indeed! Cheers! M2

WTF? Penis prank caught by Google satellite No shit, I did not make this up... And yes, if you check GoogleEarth, it is real. Search on this address: 25 Bankwood Road, Chartwell 3210, New Zealand (or you can used GoogleMaps) and look towards the top of the campus.

Do they really adjudicate clearances for AFROTC cadets? I guess collateral ones would make sense, since every officer must have at least a secret clearance; but not TS/SCI...

A great US Army site remembering this historic day! D-Day, June 6th, 1944 Cheers! M2
  18. Nothing funnier than a lieutenant that claims to be so busy that they can't remember to salute! It ain't gonna get any easier, boys; learn to deal with all of it from the onset; otherwise you're not gonna be a happy camper in the near future. One day you'll look back on these days with pure envy as to how simple things were!

I've seen them at shows, and to be honest I wouldn't waste my money. Either save up and buy a real Class III weapon, or live in the land of semi-auto like the rest of us. I can easily replicate what this stock does with a rubber band, and it doesn't require firing from the hip (that's a different method of bump-firing); but honestly even at ranges where full-auto is allowed I don't want to risk drawing that much attention to myself. Plus, there are other aspects of that stock I wouldn't be thrilled about. But that's just my opinion, much like Pager Pals I am sure there are some folks out there who will rave about this contraption. Me, I've got better things to spend my money on! Cheers! M2
  20. AMEN! Seriously, is it that fucking hard to salute someone? When I was still in I saluted buds who outranked me, because they earned it, and I respected that!
  21. Well, if you want to get pissy about it, it's an award and not a medal. It's what the organization did during his time there, not so much him specifically. And if you're that bi-curious as to why he has it, you can read his bio here and find out where he was when it was awarded. Since he has a Southwest Asia Service Medal with bronze star and an Iraqi Campaign Medal with bronze star, that'd be my first guess.
  22. A SrA with a AFCOM with a 'V' device ain't something you see everyday, and it is well deserved. I'd buy Boggs a couple of beer, he's a motivated young troop and I wish there were a helluva lot more like him. I just hope all the queep doesn't grind him down over the years like it has many of us. Hell, I hope he's motivated enough to put some effort into trying to turn the tide, instead of rolling over and accepting it like so many have. You never know, he could be the one that that gets things turned around... Cheers! M2
  23. Sorry, no poster, just another hot chick in uniform... Even the old dude is checking her ass out!
