  1. Which one of you newly minted airline dudes is this? http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a08_1406358353

  4. They don't need further resources. They need a boss that actually enforces existing laws.
  5. My first salute was from my dad, a retired Army CW3. He said it was one of the proudest moments of his life. He carried that silver dollar in his wallet until the day he died. He died in November, and I gave the eulogy. At the end, I returned the honor, giving him his final salute. One of the hardest days of my life.
  6. We had some guys in my squadron drive over to Mobile and take it for free.
  7. The B-1 can be multi-role Nothing would make Raptor guys happier than a bunch of B-OneRs ready to shoot off their load behind them.
  8. I've never heard of that. Most Navy guys do an interservice transfer (which can take up to a year), have their quals translated (SERE, water survival, fuge, wings, etc.), go through a tx-1, and show up for MQT.
  9. That's because Navs (by any name) aren't real people. Everyone knows this.
  10. Well I certainly can't recommend Freedomammunitions.com at this point. I'm at the 21 day point and the order still shows processing. They responded to the e-mail saying that due to a high volume of orders, their processing takes 7-14 days, but I'm well outside that window.
  11. There are two parts to a Navy FITREP: Performance traits (1-5, 1 being Below Standards, 2 Progressing, 3 Meets Standards, 4 above standards and 5 Greatly Exceeds standards) and Promotion Recommendation (Significant problems, Progressing, Promotable, Must Promote and Early Promote). Yes, a FITREP does list a Member Trait average versus the Summary Group Average, but the "CO/Promotion board only" score that I mentioned is the Commander's average for the command. That's what you don't ever see and that influences the board. Like Bolter King said, you can only get so many EP, MP, P, etc. So you'll get guys backstabbing each other for that.
  12. I don't remember there being a super-secret-double-blind rating average system that only the commander and promotion boards get to see in the AF. Nor do I remember being 1 of 5 one year and 2 of 14 the next being a scarlet letter. But it has been a couple of years, and I was never an Active Duty bubba, so maybe things have changed.
  13. Because the #1 FITREP becomes an obsession and dudes backstab each other to get it - especially if they don't. Even going from #1 to #2 is poison in the promotion system. It pits dudes against each other because it is the sole focus.
  14. The promotion system in the navy (FITREP ranking) is all fucked up as it is and promotes ridiculous amounts of backstabbing amongst bros.
  15. It's been 9 days now and my orders still show processing. I sent them an e-mail but received no response today.
  16. I can't speak for boat ops, but I can tell you the Navy values rank over experience. A specific example that comes to mind is SAR. During most flight briefs, when the topic of On Scene Commander comes up, there's usually a 1-2 minute discussion on who the highest ranking member in the flight is regardless of flight position. I was in a mass red air brief at Fallon where an aircraft was designated as the overall SAR on scene commander because a shoe clerk Admiral was highest ranking as the passenger in the back seat of a Super Hornet.
