The Next President is...
How about every election up until now as evidence that the system isn’t broken. The burden of proof is on those claiming it is. You can say it is all you want. I have faith it is not, and hopefully that will be evidenced in a few weeks when this is all done with one of the two worst presidential candidates in the history of the US as the President Elect. He makes some good points. I find it odd how all the fault lies on one side of this equation. The fact that the sitting president has been encouraging people to believe the system will be cheated for months, sorry, years, is completely ignored. Had he give that fact some air time as well, he’d be much more credible. He’s not wrong though, Joe Biden is nothing as of right now. He’s not legally elected to anything. He should still be preparing for that potential eventuality. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Haha, no I didn't. My bad. Thanks for pointing it out. ETA: went back in and clarified that I am an internet newb I guess.

You're right. My bad. I read the homelessness, racial injustice, etc. and my brain automatically included crime and violence because that mantra comes from the right so often. My point stands even about homelessness and your other points. My apologies for falsely attributing the crime and violence thing to you. Relax... I am posting nothing to "feel" like I won a debate. This is the internet. That aint happening...

Apples to Oranges comparison. The effect of a parent far outreaches the effect of say, a mayor or city council, on a population. 100% disingenuous way to ignore the point that is being made in my post. My point is that this is a way to complex thing to simply say democrats run things, that's why they're jacked up. There are plenty of instances where there was/is a Republican person in charge in some urban area, and things didn't magically get better. It's easier for the right to say, "oh look, Democrats are in control of that area, and they have problems." It's not that simple. Agreed. Isn't that what Biden is doing? Has he once said to stop counting? Honest question. I don't think there's anything wrong with him proceeding as if he won while this plays out in the courts. I don't think you can equate him saying "Trump isn't doing his legacy any favors" to "I won, stop counting, it's over." Also, that car is uhhhmazing! Saw that when it came out, super cool!

Saying a city has more violence, crime, homelessness and racial injustice because it is democratically led is a false correlation. Simply not accurate, but it's easy to draw that false correlation because most people won't look beyond the surface. From the article: "Is it reasonable to connect the violence and partisanship? In short, no. “I don’t think there’s any data that would allow us to draw a causal conclusion here,” said David Weisburd, executive director of the Center for Evidence Based Crime Policy at George Mason University. “Somehow arguing that Democrats cause crime or something of that sort just doesn’t fit the history of crime prevention in the U.S.” If you interpret the claim as referring to Democratic leadership, Weisburd notes that President Bill Clinton had one of the strongest recent administrations in terms of funding the criminal justice system. But more broadly, linking crime and votes simply doesn’t reflect how crime works. Studies have repeatedly found that urban crime is not a widespread phenomenon — like voting is — but a product of small groups of people in small areas." https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/06/24/fact-check-linking-city-violence-democratic-politics-reach/3248102001/ Isn't it more likely that urban areas have more of these problems because they have more people? Every single one of these problems could be due to that fact alone.

https://www.newsguardtech.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/oann.pdf The quoted is a good example of when you can ignore something based on the source. Not credible or reliable. Incredibly biased and pushing an agenda. Edit to add: Oh yeah, also a fair bet that if Rudy is the source you are probably safe to completely ignore it. What happened to that guy...? He was the freakin' man in NYC after 9/11. Guess the stress got to him because he is definitely not credible anymore.

Semantics... So, according to you, someone who has a political bias is incapable of producing anything worth note? Everyone, everyone has a political bias. Look at virtually every article posted on here, the author leans one way or another. Should we disregard everything. Brookings is reputable.

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/the-avenue/2020/11/09/biden-voting-counties-equal-70-of-americas-economy-what-does-this-mean-for-the-nations-political-economic-divide/ Heard this story on "gasp" NPR this morning, so I looked up the report. For the camp claiming economic superiority, counties in the US that voted for Biden accounted for 70% of the US's economic activity... The article talks about Trump winning the electoral college last time but the counties won by Clinton (just threw up in my mouth a little even typing her name) had roughly the same economic impact. From the ariticle: "Why does this matter? This economic rift that persists in dividing the nation is a problem because it underscores the near-certainty of both continued clashes between the political parties and continued alienation and misunderstandings." This rift is scary. People in these rural areas (rightly so) worry that people in these metropolitan hubs are deciding how they should live their lives, and the metropolitan areas are completely out of touch with life in the rural areas. Someone proposed the great idea of breaking DC up and sending govt agencies out across the country. I love that. It would help reduce the gap in understanding, and maybe bring us closer to the middle where we belong. No way to make left and right happy on every issue all the time, but we should be better at compromise...

Not disagreeing with you. We all get carried away sometimes in what, to our perception in the moment, feels like the other side is ignoring the countless examples provided previously.

His answer is valid based on the fact that many people on the side of common sense feel that the right (the side pushing the same conspiracy theories Trump pushed after losing the popular vote in 2016) lacks the self awareness to realize they're being played by a president desperate to cling to power and social media news sources because the real journalists out there are just #fakenews. They think you lack self awareness, and the rest of the world (authoritarian regimes excluded [I say that because they're basically the only ones to have yet to offer congratulations. Good company...]) thinks they lack self awareness. The real reason the rest of the GOP isn't telling the president to stop crying already is because of the run-offs in GA in January. I'd put money on the thought that if the GOP had won those two races outright, you'd have the rest of the GOP congratulating the Biden camp already.

One of the frustrating things is that you are immediately labeled a liberal, which is now somehow an insult/cussword in this incredibly divided environment (started with Obama, or you could go all the way back to Gingrich). You're not just of a different political camp anymore, you're somehow the enemy if you don't give Trump your unwavering support. That may be slightly hyperbolic, but the point is fairly strong. What is also hyperbolic are the charges (made by some of the very people on this forum) of the immediate destruction of the US and its identity if a Democrat is sitting in the WH.

Go back and read his many, many posts where he accuses me of all kinds of personal things, specifically on my service, and the type of officer I am. I’ll admit, I’ve engaged a few times in a similar fashion, basically calling him “kid” or referencing his maturity. I keep trying to move on, but it’s like a dog and a bone with him. I’m no innocent, but sheesh, let it go... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Just because they got lucky, and no one got hurt doesn’t mean it isn’t dangerous, or even violent. The banging on windows, which is akin to threatening violent actions, while honest poll workers are trying to do their jobs is similar. These aren’t isolated incidents. Just because the right knows how to take things right up to that dangerously thin line without crossing it doesn’t mean they are morally or ethically right. Intimidation, something the right is know for is not an isolated incident. See above examples, and look in the many posts over the last few days for your sources. I’m not on the left my friend. I see the crazy happening on both sides. Just feel like, IN THIS MOMENT IN TIME, and only this moment, the crazy seems to be a little stronger on the right. You can attempt to paint me into that corner all you want. You’re also ignoring the entire last line of my post where I said, “In all fairness, the left is often guilty of the same”. Unsure what your beef is kid, but you need to let it rest. Stop making this a fight between you and me. Stop making it personal... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

No, they’re also not capable of violent actions, or getting a convoy together to slow Biden campain vehicles down in dangerous ways on the interstate. Only the left would do that. You have to remember, the right recognizes hypocrisy on the left, but is blind to it in their own camp. Fairly ironic... In all fairness, the left is often guilty of the same. I feel like true independents are the only ones looking around wondering what’s happening on both sides. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

While I agree with you in principle, I don’t based on my experience in the military. Loose comparison on the student loan forgiveness thing and those who did the right thing vs those who didn’t would be the master’s degree requirement in the AF. Those who came up in that system perpetuated it because they got to positions of power and said, “I had to do it, so everyone who follows me does too!” I get it, not an apples to apples comparison, but it illustrates the point that when you’re trying to make things better for those that follow you, the path is obviously going to be easier for them, and there isn’t any kind of guarantee you’ll get any type of renumeration or “payback” for what you’ve done. You’re just happy with leaving things better for those that follow. I don’t expect my kids to pay me back for all I’ve done for them. If I can clear some obstacles I had to fight through in my time in the AF for the Airmen that follow me, I don’t care that I don’t get the time spent on those obstacles back. If I have to pay for school, and the generations that follow me don’t, I’m okay with that. I agree, it sucks that I lost out on that money, but “a rising tide lifts all ships.” EDITED TO ADD: I also don’t see how she would be able to pull something like this off. Warren is a hack, and I don’t like her. Crazy expensive and unrealistic. I just wanted to say that I am supportive of the idea if they could find a way to fiscally do it. As many of us know, starting life with significant debt simply to get an education sucks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Could that be because Trump is only fighting states where he lost a close race, and is “trusting the system” where he won? So it’s widespread, but only through about 4 locations? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Dang, this guy is troll, level 10. Ignore him. I’d put money he doesn’t put any stock in his own words, but he’s doing a good job at pissing off a bunch of professional, military aviators. Ignore him. This is a great back and forth, and he’d have it all stop, why? Who knows...? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

To go back to something quickly from over the weekend. I've thought more about it. AOC's list of Trump supporters, IMHO, is wrong. I think it returns to a dark time in our Nation's past. Shows her immaturity, and I hope she's able to grow up a little.
