Jaysus... sick douche bag. **break break** I'm grateful to say that I got through my sq/cc tour without a link being posted in this thread about me getting fired. Today was my last day as the CC. It was great and terrible all at the same time & glad it's over/wish it would keep going all at once. Time for a cocktail.

Just because they have the J.D., doesn’t necessarily mean they have a better crosscheck or eye for detail. For anyone approaching the point of departure: I did a lot of writing during my divorce. A LOT. Like, more than I had in college, more than PDE/IDE. And I fucking HATE to write. I learned to do legal research and included citations. About 40% of what I wrote ended up on the floor after editing, but quite a bit ended up directly cut and pasted into my motions, with the legal mechanics built around the story. And with my good lawyers ($$$) it saved me some coin. But more importantly, there was no way that my attorneys could have had the in-depth detail awareness, or made all of the logical connections toward a meaningful conclusion, if I were just feeding them cocktail napkin notes the whole time. ...fwiw.

So am I. I ended up having to kinda be a jerk to my lawyer. I was supposed to have a Final Judgement on the 25th, he screwed up the paperwork and forgot to put in there that my ex could change her name and then I think he just put it on the back burner since he already had my money. I called him up and told him I had retained a new lawyer and he all of a sudden started working again. Told me it should be done this week, even if he has to hand deliver paperwork to the judge. It's actually worse than that. Last week I had an extensive talk about this with one of our finance chicks (who is actually damn good at her job). You can't process more than 16/qtr or 48/yr through AROWS. Once you hit those system limits, you have to open a CMS case for these to be paid out. Catch is, these CMS cases can only be processed on the 1st and 15th of the month...you can't make this shit up! You have to use digital 105s because apparently wet signatures are old fashioned and we must now digitally sign everything. We have guys whose AFTPs were submitted in July that still haven't been paid. She also said the part timer flight pay issue is not going to be fixed because they're supposedly rolling out some new pay system in January of 2021. We'll be lucky if that thing is operational by 2025. I've honestly just given up trying to keep track of the flt pay and I just hope they're doing it right. So to recap. - What used to take less than a minute with a pen/105 card, is now a 15-20 minute affair (minimum). That's if the computers are running good AND "the network" isn't down that day. - For some fucking odd reason we can no longer process our own UTA cards. - Additional AFTPs, while nice, have created a fuckton of extra work. - Flight pay is still a rusty coat hanger abortion and will be until Jan of 2021...checks in the mail. - Last week I spent pay cards just to unfuck all my rejected AFTPs. Ha, getting paid to get paid! - In my 18 years in the ANG, damn near every new "advancement," has made life harder on the DSG.

I emailed AFPC and was told there are 200 slots total, half going to pilot/rpa, and the other half going to cso/abm. There are just under 300 applicants for this board. No idea the ratio of the 100 slots between pilot/rpa. Sounds like the previous thread comments are correct, pilot slots are down.

Not a very exciting thread I'm sure! What do folks get their family members when they retire? Everyone does flowers at the ceremony and I'm guessing it is like a funeral at the house with many sets of flowers for all the woman-folk... I know it is not typically a time to celebrate them, but I'd like to make this as much of a day for at least my immediate family as I feel they have put up with a lot of sacrifices along the way. Thoughts? Obviously jewelry, but is there something that is a bit unique? Anything besides jewelry? Kids are nearing or in teenage years. Thanks!

I took PTDY according to Rule 2 of the table in the leave AFI. The wording is weird because it doesn’t seem to address a member who is Palace Chasing. But if someone who is being involuntarily separated “for cause” can get PTDY, I figured I was entitled. I took some for house hunting, then added the additional to my terminal leave. You can also take up to 7 days each time you travel to interview with a guard/reserve unit. That is spelled out in the PC AFI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found out something totally ridiculous. If you have been in AROWS lately pushing through AFTPs you will notice that you can now push 24 in a quarter. I was trying to figure out why 8 of my AFTPs didn’t get paid even though they had been completely approved through my OG/CC. Went by finance and was told that it had been rejected by the pay system and we still have to open CMS cases to go past the 16 allowed under the old reg. Seriously, WTF? I can't say that I do either but I won't dismiss it completely. IMO, It's a concept meant for the collective action of nations that can act and who feel compelled by their values to act. Not the responsibility of just one nation no matter how powerful/wealthy compared to others and not without the consent of the governed who will be required to serve and sacrifice for others with no definite end in sight and no assurance of success. All of those caveats have not been met by those advocating for humanitarian intervention. No honesty as to the cost, the time and risks. Powers and those who push for western nations, especially America, to act on the concept of the Responsibility to Protect along with those who push for what I would call Indefinite Engagement aren't honest about what it required to execute missions that act on these ideas and that dishonesty erodes trust in leadership, exhausts a military structured to mainly deter and win conventional conflicts and breeds a cynicism in the public that infects every other way we view our government. I'm not for America alone to go out and fix the world but if the Western world just can't tolerate the mass tragedies then we have to be honest as to the cost, risks and requirements while explaining clearly to the people who will bear this cost as to why and what are they sacrificing for.

Nothing but trouble unless you believe the US and other countries with the capabilities and means should honor and act on the concept of the responsibility to protect political theory then it is a duty we (and ideally others) will/should take up. Not advocating just commenting. I am not sure we do or anyone does individually but collectively I think there is a stronger cause to say we (collectively) should, not saying we (collectively as a sovereign nations) will but that the theory merits greater consideration then. Interventionist and Realists again. But at what cost and if it is worth it why can't they (interventionists) be honest about the costs if the cause be worthy? Unless we and others who are capable and publicly call for a world order where certain national behaviors are not tolerated are willing to pay the cost, sacrifice and remain engaged for causes that do not directly defend our nations and interests then we should abstain from seeming to offer false hope..

I am not in the least bit qualified to even comment on what flavor of pilot should instruct in what flavor of airplane. But I was in the Air Force for 20 years and can recognize a massive elephant sized anal probe from toxic leadership when I see one.
