  3. I vote that we blame it all on "fighter pilot culture", and the solution be that we tear down and eliminate it from the AF. That worked with sexual assault, right? I think some of you guys might be surprised at how instantaneously Big Blue can take a fast burner and turn him into a zero if he dares cross whatever the line-of-the-day is. Today, that line is sexual assault. In the past (and maybe now) that included DUI. There are other hot button topics that cause binary "burn the witch" reactions, regardless of the arc the accused's careers is on.

  4. You would think so.. When/if I am passed over, I will have 16 years. My IPZ is next year, and based on some folks that had pretty strong records and didn't get promoted...I don't have much hope. And now it seems we are back to the non-continuation strategy similar to 2011. I just hope that TERA is available in 2016 for my 2 above.. either that or bigblue panics after they realize everyone got out and they promote everyone. Are there any statistics on non-continuation/continuation? Anything negative on the records or just average joes?

  5. A dude in my last unit got a DUI in 2010. He got RIF'd the next year, picked up full time by the local reserve unit, upgraded to IP/EP, and promoted to major. Then he x-flowed to another airframe and got the AF to pay for his type and ATP. I'd say that's a pretty darn successful post-DUI career. I guess if you're trying to make O-6 then yes, a DUI might make that goal somewhat more difficult to obtain. It all depends on your criteria I suppose...

  6. What's crap is that they get to 'apologize' but yet we still have a Marine sitting in one of their Mexican prisons for something that should only require an 'apology'.

  8. Shit yes, dude - this. So much this. Now, by NO MEANS do I think that marching an entire squadron due to one man's DUI is the best way to handle something like this, so don't get me wrong. However, what I'm about to say might piss some of you off: People on the internet discussing if marching to the gate due to a SQ DUI is an IG or "talk to the press" kind of matter make us sound like a bunch of dumb-fuck, no-good, booger-eating SNAPs. ("HOLY SHIT - HE MADE ME MARCH. IN MY ACTUAL UNIFORM!") The IG and the press will only answer with something like this: When you (and most of us here) perceive something as a bad leadership decision, do anything BUT start up with the stupid comments and whining. Instead, how about we discuss some ways to reduce ARIs that actually make sense? You never know...someone in charge might read it.

  9. Does this mean if a fellow squadron member is the Wing CGO of the Year that his squadron mates can also claim on their OPR that they are also the Wing CGO of the Year? Or do we only share the bad things?
