So my time has come to an end over in England unfortunately and I head back to the states in a couple weeks...hopefully the BAA has figured out wtf is up with their airport security...and I've got a question for you guys that were stationed over in USAFE in the past. I bought a "tax-free" car over here and will be taking it back with me. Is it a huge ass pain to register/title your car? I have a feeling I'm going to get stuck paying tax on it. Texas, where I'm a resident, wants 6.25% and Missouri where I'm going has all sorts of stipulations. People keep mentioning the 3-way split, wtf is that all about? Thanks. EDIT: I'm too lazy to do a search for this topic.…

Lockheed Says F-35 Could Fly Pilotless Pentagon Demand for Drones Grows By Renae Merle Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, August 16, 2006; D01 Lockheed Martin Corp. has proposed an unmanned version of its Joint Strike Fighter, the F-35, which would make it the first full-scale fighter to operate without a pilot and signal the Bethesda weapons maker's push into the growing market for drone aircraft. The idea has been in the works for two years, Lockheed Vice President Frank Mauro said at a briefing yesterday. He provided few details but said the plane could be built as an interchangeable hybrid -- manned by a pilot for some missions and operated remotely f…

Fellas, Every now and then a HATER emails in some sort of a non-coherent incomprehensible manner. For your enjoyment, check out what our AIR FORCE WARRIORS are doing: -------------------------------------- Comments: Your site includes USAF and AETC symbols which might lead some to believe they are officially sanctioned sites. Many Air Force or DoD personnel are not aware of their responsibilities under DoD Directive 5230.25, Withholding of Unclassified Technical Data from Public Disclosure, and AFI 33-129, Web Management and Internet Use. i am an ad lt awaiting nav training in Dec. per the rules i was offered up to 10 days for free leave to go house hunting with the wife. the obvious catch is that i pay travel/lodging and such. basically it is free leave, as ya'll already know. anyway, us this a good idea to go down there, can i save money by taking space A or is that just not realistic for a 10 day trip to randolph. ok-or can i take the 10 days house hunting free leave predate from my RNLT date plus 8 days permissive TDY so it is actually 18 days pre RNLT date. which would all be paid for because it is travel time. also they give like 7 days to drive so really it would be 25 days worth of paid t…

If I used the wrong search terms, I'll help setup the stake. Source I've looked and am still looking. Does anyone know about this? I'm wondering if it is good for any loan, secured or unsecured. Sallie Mae is starting to piss me off (again) on a student loan. [ 01. September 2006, 05:41: Message edited by: Toro ]

OK, I looked through the search function of the board and couldn't find it. I'm looking into applyin for a boomer position and wanted to get the skinny on the process. Is there an age limit? I have going on 15 years AFRES/Ang time. I am a pilot for a law-enforcement agency here in Ohio, so I do have some idea of the CRM aspect of things. I looked into trying to go UPT, but I'll be 35 in March '07 so I'm pooched on that avenue. Is being a boomer worth it? Although I won't be a pilot on a 135, will my interaction as an aircrew member give me valuable experience that I can bring back to my civilian flying job? Any hints, suggestions....etc gladly welcomed

So my fiance and myself (OK, mostly me) are wondering when the heck we'll find out what his orders are for after he commissions? He got a pilot slot last March, goes for his flight physical the last week of August and will graduate and commission June 10, 2007. When do ROTC guys typicaly find out the when and where for their first base? Is there a typical order of what they do (ie. ASBC, then IFS, then UPT?) Does anyone know the typical wait for UPT right now? We're hoping to get married 3 weeks after he commissions - so I was just wondering what anyone else knew. Thanks!

was just wondering the different ideas/therories behind the navy and AF having different refuleing setups. like the probe or the basket. why not have them all the same so that they would be interchangeable. [ 08. August 2006, 18:02: Message edited by: Toro ]

This question is not aimed at any particular model of aircraft. I would like to know if DME indications during an MLS approach are received through the TACAN or by a seperate internal MLS component. Thanks.

was just wondering what you nav studs out there thought of the T-43. is it like flying on an airliner or what. did they build you a window to look out of. do you ever do any low level work. or are you just to busy to care about the ride. also, another serious question, do the IN's get pissed if you snoose on the plane. I'm just about to finish up tweets at Columbus, and just filled out my dream sheet. I really want to do tac airlift, and I was advised to put in for T-1s (as opposed to T-44's) to keep my options open. I've been reading some articles in Air Mobility Magazine (while tending to various physio matters) about the C-17 being used to a fuller extent in the low-level/airdrop role. Say that doesn't workout and I manage to get a C-130 outta UPT. What are my chances of moving from slicks into AFSOC?

https://www.wcnc.com/news/topstories/storie...h.1b3b58b1.html Looks like Ed Shipley. Interesting to see if this complicates the ongoing investigation into T. Mike. Best wishes to Ed's family, friends and employees. They may look neat and are straightforward to fly, but make no mistake, these first generation jet fighters have many unforgiving aspects, with worthless egress systems. Potentially dangerous machines. Robert Guillford Jimmy Rossi Tom Delashaw Come to mind. I don't know about Shipley or Guillford's reputations, but Rossi and Deleshaw were world-class, experienced aviators. [ 31. July 2006, 20:01: Message edited by: Toro ]

Check out the last paragraph. Apparently the T-38 is being replaced by the T-6 now... by Tech. Sgt. Cecilio M. Ricardo Jr. Air Force Print News 7/23/2006 - SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- United States and European pilots may have language barriers but at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training wing, they all speak the same language -- avionics. In the 55-week ENJJPT program, approximately 250 American and European students earn their wings yearly. Of those graduating, about 65 percent are American pilots and the remainder are European. The integrated training of U.S. and European forces prepares NATO pilots for real-world operations. "We train lik…

ive heard that you only get three chances to pass either a check ride or written test at UNT/Randolph, the whole time, and it is very realistic that one may drop out. on the flip side ive heard that you get like forty tries in UPT and you are basically forced through the program. how do the two compare with regards to attrtion and tolerance? For anyone that knows the T-6 pubs, I am tring to find anything in writing concerning the requirements for a pilot to re-inspect the aircraft after getting strapped in and after a crew chief has made an "adjustment" to the jet. For example, you get strapped in and you get an OBOGS fail annunciator so the crew chief opens the access door to the OBOGS system, corrects what he thinks is the problem and closes the door and the annunciator goes away. Are we obligated to get out and basically do another walk around?

Hey folks, I just graduated with a B.S. and have lately been thinking about enlisting in order to try out for a pararescue slot. However, it seems that everyone I talk to discourages me from enlisting and urges me to seek a commission. This includes a former Navy officer as well as a retired AF colonel who flew F-111's. I have visited the specialtactics.com message boards (CCT/PJ's "Baseops.net") and have considered the advice given by those guys, however, I was also wanting to hear about the benefits/drawbacks from some current officers (any enlisted folks feel free to share as well). I know that officers get paid significantly more, and that they get more leade…
