I am wondering what kinds of non flying jobs you reserve guys might have within your units that help support you (and your family) in addition to flight time. Or what jobs do you have outside of the units that allow you time to fly. Or do you find that you get enough flight time to not have to worry about a second job. In college I majored in International Studies. Basically that consists of politics, economics, history, literature, geography etc. Typically it was more of an analytical work. I would be given a country to study, then forcast how it would react politically, economically etc to the actions of neighboring countries and world events as a whole. Are t…

For any USAF H-1 pilots out there, do you fly your night sorties on NVGs? I'm not familiar with the AF Huey mission. Maybe someone can elaborate on mission profiles and/or normal training mission scenarios. Thanks.

If you go the 38 route, can you pretty much get a bomber if you know you want one from the get go? It seems to me from the posts on here that bombers aren't the top pick for the majority of 38 guys. My guess would be if you want a bomber, it wouldn't be a prob. I just wanted to ask the question to see if I'm on the right track. Thanks.

I may be exposing my week brainpower here but was wondering if anyone could suggest some techniques for practicing ops limits. I’m able to do it in writing on the "fill in the blank" sheet. But when it comes to randomly having someone ask me one while standing up I can't seem to spit them out especially with the associated note that may go along with it. We hit the flightline a week from Thursday and I’m trying to get these down. So if anyone has some suggestions for what worked for them please share! Thanks

Anyone have any experience with having a drum set on base? I'm assuming I'm going to have to live in a house off base if I want to bring my drums with me. Any thoughts? (BTW-selling them is not an option)

I picked up golf recently and I have a kind of mis-matched set (dad and grandfathers old clubs). I want to buy some new clubs, but not spend a ridiculous amount. How much time does it generally take to become Aircraft Commander? Reason I ask is because I was looking through Southwest Airlines website and they will only take AC time as PIC and that got me thinking.

Security clearance paperwork If anyone has anything good to add to the list please do so as Im really wondering if I should keep some of this stuff like the old orders, travel voucher paperwork that has been paid, ect. I know that there has been a lot of talk about what people like and dislike about certain a/c they fly. I fill out my "dream" sheet here very shortly on the T-1 side of the house and am trying to decide where I may want to go. My question is for those who are currently flying in the Air Force (MWS and FAIP guys). In a sentence or two, what do you like and dislike the most about your a/c. I am mainly concerned with the heavy world but you fighter guys feel free to chime in as well. Thanks for the input.

Say I wanted to walk over to the friendly SF shack and qualify on the M-9. Anyone know how to go about this or any details? Specifically, is it limited to those deploying, or can anyone just walk over and get it done? Also, what are the requirements for qualifiying / marksman? I'm full of questions 'cause I've been shooting now for about a year with my H&K, and I want to make it official that I know how to shoot. Thanks in advance.
