On the training side how much of the flying is actually done by hand as opposed to using the autopilot? Does the Tweet even have an autopilot? I am currently flying a Citation CJ2 and I'm trying to fly as many legs as possible without the AP so that I can keep up my instrument scan (as if there is one anyway in the Collins ProLine 21) for UPT.

Am looking for some unfiltered info on life at on AD from the four-fans-of-freedom guys. This is coming from someone that might be "returning to the fold" so to speak. I've been an ARC member for a lot longer than I was ever on AD and have only recently seen AD up close in the AOR. Specifically, are they giving assigments to Elmendorf? I wanted to post this question to see what everyone’s opinion was on requesting a change of an IP. Being in the middle of UPT and talking to fellow classmates everyone is of the opinion that it is totally highlighting yourself if you ask for a change of instructor and that you will hose yourself if you do it. However I was always given the advice by my unit that if I felt I was not learning or just flat out felt I had a personality clash to go ahead and request it. Hey, This might be a really really really stupid question for some of you, but it has been on my mind for a bit now. I want to be a pilot in the Air Force; I am a US citizen and everything, as well as in ROTC. The thing is I am of middle eastern descent. I really dug the Aviation Pics thread on this forum (gen disussion). I was wondering if there was any sort of demand / desire to see the creation of an interactive aviation pics gallery -- an online gallery where you could upload photos/pics to share with others? Help me to understand why when we have a discussion that really does relate to military, flying, and world events, does it have to be locked? I am referring to the discussion on the muslim thing. While in the lab, I dealt almost exculsively with the weaponeering process and the generation of the data that provides the means for weaponeering softwares and data... It did kinda seem silly to me that you guys would actually use a computer disk to figure out what to arm your jet with, but I've heard pretty crazy things before. My question (actually) is how often and really just how, do you mission commanding metal-bearers actually use or imploy the Joint Air-to-Surface Weaponnering Software? And, are there other things/systems you use to aid you in arming your weapon platforms?

I made a bet about a 747-400 landing at my local air field. The total length of the air field is 7010 feet by 150 feet. Lets say if the 747-400 land right at the start of this run way and land by the text book/ checklist as far as flaps and throttle can it come to a complete stop and not go over the 7010 feet mark?

So I got my nice Air Force Times yesterday and as mentioned before on here, 4K over commissioned Lt's and young Capts, 11FX (Pilots) are like 1160 approx over filled, yada, yada, yada. Pilots don't need to worry though since they've put so much money into us and all that stuff.However, due to this force shaping, is palace chasing a more viable option for now guys only 20 months into their 10ADSC? Ok, I am 16 and going into my second year of high school. I wanna bring my life to the highest ground. I wanna become a pilot for airlines, but i am confuse on which path to take. I have no knowlegde or experience on flying or planes, but i am so desparte and eager to learn. The paths i have trouble choosing is if i should goto the Air Force and get some training there and going to their academy (Air Force Academy) Or going into colleges that have Aviation programs.

I am a senior Captain selected to Major, on active duty in the USMC. I currently in my first year as an instructor pilot at the CH-53E Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) in NC. It is about that time in my career where I need to make a decision about whether to stay on active duty and push to retirement in the Marine Corps or start the interservice transition process for one of the above on the subject line. I have a buddy and fellow FRS IP that just went on terminal leave from the Marine Corps on June 2nd. He is getting ready to go to Vance in October for UPT. Bad intel or too sensitive for someone's ears?

Here's my dilemma people. I'm getting a new car here sometime soon and I've got some questions about leasing a car. I don't know much about leasing, but in some ways it seems good and in other ways bad. If I did decide to lease, about how much driving does one do while at UPT and all the follow on courses? To me it seems obvious, all my time will be spent in the classroom/flying, therefore, not too much time to be driving all over the place. Have any of you leased a vehicle and regreted it while in UPT or any other time in your career? Just trying to get an idea if I should buy something for my next few years of training or lease it instead. Any ideas?

Okay, so the F-22 is going to replace the F-15 and the F-35 the F-16. When will it be conceivable that these airframes will make it to the guard fighter units? Is this even a possibility that this might happen? I have not heard anything for a while and was just curious as I am trying to get a -16 or -15 slot with a guard unit. Thanks for any insight.
