My post was regarding Mandami freezing rent, which was part of his campaign (also thought I saw a video of him calling the city to lower rent?). Currently less than 1% have rent controls, and as you correctly stated, less than 50% are rent stabilized, which yet still allows rent to be increased year after year. But I agree with you that this will be a disaster.

So he can’t influence vendors to charge less for a beer at the dude’s own event…but…come Jan 1st he’ll be able to influence property owners to reduce/stop increases when it comes to charging rent.

Every now then (though it seems to happen more often over the last several years), the left says the quiet part out loud.

Even Bill Maher, who is anything but a conservative, called out the high profile types on the left because so many refuse to go on his show. Not at all…but if you’re anti what Trump does, just because it’s Trump, then you have TDS. Likewise if you’re anti what the Dems do, but are ok with it when Trump does it, then you’re also being a hypocrite. There’s a lot I don’t like about Trump and the GOP…and there are some things I like about what the Dems want (drug legislation and less involvement in foreign wars, though the later seems to be more in the distant past). Ask me what my opinions are on an issue and I’ll happily provide an answer, and you’ll find that I’m fairly consistent.

If Trump does something I like, I say it, if not, I say I don’t like it just the same. As for privatizing vs government employee…as we are seeing, it’s a much, much easier to adjust the numbers with a contract employees vs government employees. Just one example, which is all I need since the discussion is on shrinking the size of the federal workforce. As for safety, was I trained more poorly with sim instructors who were contractors vs GS employees? Was my life more at risk when I was flown on a rotator by a contracted company vs on a military jet?

No…I’m willing to cut some positions, and then privatize even fewer of the ones cut. ATC is needed, just like airport security, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be government employees. National Park employees (as an example)…we can cut some of those and also don’t need to privatize the ones we cut.

Well, the left doesn’t seem to want to cut any positions, and rather expand the government, so in the meantime I’ll take just about any cuts. Are some positions more important to cut than others, of course…but let’s not pretend that the big government types (and yes, that includes those in the GOP) want to cut much of anything.

I said cut, not eliminated—way too many government employees who are definitely not needed. As for ATC, I would much rather see it privatized, but until then, they definitely provide a needed service when compared to many of the national park government employees, as one example.

You didn’t make this big of a stink over the last 15+ years of other people who were serving in various high level positions, when there were better/stronger options available.
