Single Seat or Strike Eagle?
I'd rather have frosted tip gelled hair forced upon me by a bunch of Eagle (F-15C) gaybros than listen to a nav mouthbreathe and ask me to fly every 69 seconds. Single seat all the way, even if it means being a homo Eagle driver. To clarify: I fly the Viper. The math is easy: take the number of ejection seats in your jet, multiplied by the number of engines, and multiply that product by the number of vertical stabs. Anything more than 1 and you're a homo. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I agree of course, but those decisions (about foreign trainees) get made way above CSAF's level and years in advance. Those dudes can't have their training track changed without SAF/IA, State, and Sec Carter having a pretty high-level pow-wow... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I'm sorry man, but history is full of callsigns (especially from WW 'Nam) of men and women who paid the ultimate price while flying their war chariots, both in battle and while training for battle. If the B-52 community is offended by the name Raider, maybe y'all need to dig a little deeper into history and come up with a list of names and call signs we can't use until we give you SNAPs sufficient trigger warnings and enough time to retreat to your cozy safe space. YGBSM. Personally, if I morted and Big Blue decided to name an airplane the same flying callsign, I'd be fvcking honored. You can't un-mort the mort, so your only option is to remember (with reverence). Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Was flying for the Air Force worth it?
Gotcha. Naw, AFPC actually did something that made sense: they're sending a Korean-speaking Viper pilot to a squadron in Korea. Knowing AFPC's track record, I was expecting Spang. HARRUMPH to actually getting my first choice. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Was flying for the Air Force worth it?
The best self-test comes when I ask myself what I'd tell my kids. No way would I advise them to pursue active duty life as a pilot, but I would whole-heartedly support the ANG. There are just too many damn variables today, and the 10-year commitment isn't going away (especially with rumors of its increase). Variables exist in the ANG, too, but nothing like the fvcked-up shenanigans we've seen in the last 6-9 years in the active duty USAF. Honestly, if asked about a mil career by my kids, this would be my advice: Go to a great school on an ROTC scholarship, major in a STEM field, then go be a contracting officer for 4 years and get out as a young captain to make bank at a defense contractor. My kids' father got real lucky so far with his flying career. Couldn't dodge the school bullet but I am walking away with great experiences and the ability to speak an Asian language, AND I'm going back to my F-16 mistress. I am the exception, not the rule. I would not expect the next generation's experience to be as good as mine. They'll be too damn busy turning red dots into green dots and remodeling the bathrooms to accommodate the 7 different "genders" in the squadron. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Yep. Fat Amy is great. She knows a lot of tricks and jokes, so everyone wants her at their party. Hanging out with Fat Amy is awesome. ...but no one wants to actually get inside her. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

There are certain types of ordnance that are too large for a Raptor or Fat Amy to carry internally. Also, just imagine the kinds of things a huge intercontinental stealth antenna can do when networked to fighters or unmanned assets. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) info
2 years. Your initial CFI and subsequent renewals are good until the end of the month 2 years later. (example: initial CFI on 14 Sep 16 results in a cert good through 30 Sep 18).

MAF guys coming to the CAF? I can't speak for everyone, but as for ME, I'm really looking forward to all those esprit-de-corps building MAF squadron traditions they'll certainly bring with them to my squadron. Wheeeee...can't wait.

PME and Career advice
SAF/IA typically wants to bring foreign IDE grads into the RAS program and give them a 2-year "payback" RAS tour after IDE completion. Given that DLI is nominally a year (more for Asian languages like Korean, Chinese, etc), the year at IDE plus 2-year staff adds up to over 4 years out of the jet. (I didn't realize this until AFTER I was selected and had committed, so I wasn't a happy dude for a while.) Again, better lucky than good...and I'm heading back to the CAF. My results are not typical.

PME and Career advice
I'm approaching the end of my PME adventure in Korea. Would anyone be interested in hearing my humble opinions? I'm one of the lucky ones. Because of the 11F shortage, I get to skip the staff payback and return direct to the CAF. Furthermore, because of the shortage, 11Fs are ineligible for foreign IDE UFN. However, because there might be other dudes interested in stiff-arming Maxwell like I did, hit me with questions if you have 'em.

Best chances for fighters.. AD or Reserves?
He really sent me his contact info. Proof: Definitely going to rank 1 or 2 at UPT.

I'm glad you said so. Just skip UPT then and join us in the CAF, brah! Didn't you hear there's a fighter pilot shortage? Would you mind PMing me your name and contact info so I can get your orders hooked up for Weapons School? Thanks, brosaurus-rex.
