  1. We can consider it as long as it'll get ATIS for the UP.
  2. I'd be happier if the Uber credit weren't limited to $15/month (higher in December), but I'll take it! Uber overseas doesn't count, btw. US only. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. Yeah, I always consult the SOF about where to point my jet, the checklist I'm running, and which tactic I plan on using. GMAFB, dude. As for wingmen, yeah...it's just a big fukkin peyote drum circle up there where we talk out our feelings while slinging missiles and killing shitheads on motos. You bet, champ. 4. It's called a canopy, actually. Windows are for passengers and aviation via committee. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  5. But the money has to be there. I've heard rumors that Sonoran Inc (the contractor for the KHMN Viper RTU) is considering upping the compensation package to $225k/yr plus bennies for F-16 sim/academic instructors...to attract more potential hires. That's airline money for a 9-5 (relatively easy) job that doesn't require travel. Still, it's Alamogordo...$225k might not be enough for some, despite how rewarding and stable the job might be. 6. Yes, this is true. I've never actually gone to the IG, but a valid threat and explanation of broken AFIs the IG will eventually hear about is usually all it takes.
  7. The USN is doing this with their FHP (or whatever they use to track flying hours). Without a change in funding, they're done this July for FY17. https://news.usni.org/2017/02/07/vcno-navy-will-be-just-flat-out-out-of-money-without-supplemental-funding-would-cancel-flight-hours-ship-avails
  8. Speak to the first officer in the finance chain of command. Make an appointment. Bring documentation of all emails, phone calls, and visits, to include names of who you spoke with. Even more helpful if you can cite the AFIs the finance office has violated. Inform the CGO you speak with that your next stop is IG if the issue is not resolved. 9. Those using Airbnb (or similar), don't expect USAF to reimburse for travel started after 15 February. https://www.jqpublicblog.com/lodging-bureaucrats-continue-to-harass-airmen-discriminate-against-businesses/
  10. Until that wall is built, just sit on the north side and let the girls come to you, brah.
  11. If MX is struggling, 7 days/week of flying doesn't always mean that all the IPs are working 7 days. If only 80% of the jets you need can be available on any given day, then you gotta spread the flying into the weekend to stay on timeline. That would mean that smart leadership (not a given in today's USAF, I know) would rotate the bodies to ensure that IPs are getting days off during the week. Still, UPT manning "overhead" (like RSU controllers, Ops Supervisors, SOFs, etc) still have to be at work, so it's pretty damn inefficient from a manpower perspective.

  13. I've always thought that Hawaii is the diamond of the Pacific, and Guam is the cubic zirconia.
  14. This was news to me: http://www.doctorofcredit.com/barclaycard-significantly-cuts-benefits-active-duty-military-cardholders/ BLUF: Barclaycard is no longer going to drop interest rates/fees to zero on their cards for active duty servicemembers. Current cardholders are grandfathered until they leave active duty, however.
  15. And if anyone doubted the "pay for play" status of the Clinton Foundation: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jan/16/clinton-global-initiative-lays-off-22-as-donations/ Color me surprised...
  16. Dunno about all of those mentioned, but Barclaycard and AMEX Platinum are both waived for me. My Barclaycard is also set at 0% APR. I churn points by purchasing everything I can with it, and going big on the card when PCSing pretty much always earns me enough points to pay for a couple tickets to someplace nice. All at 0% APR, so it's no-hassle when USAF decides to be a few months late repaying my travel voucher. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  18. I'm not confident that Putin attempted to influence the election in Trump's favor. I just think that's an unintended (and a bonus for Putin) second-order effect of what the then-Soviet and now-Russian gov't always does: Attempt to subvert the legitimacy of democratic governments by sowing seeds of doubt among the populace. This is purely my personal assessment, but I think Putin was convinced (like many others were) that HRC would win the election. Thus, to do the most possible long-term damage to her administration and possibly cause a lengthy and distracting investigation into her election, legitimacy, and corruptibility, he targeted HRC.
  19. Please check with your WSO before posting.
  20. It's obvious that the Stein recount was a money grab by the Green Party. As far as how she managed to raise more money in a week than she did during her WHOLE CAMPAIGN, I guess we can just speculate. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  21. I'm saying that big leadership screw ups that make the news will almost always result in a firing. USAF leadership failures at the O-5 level seem to happen much more quietly. Because your standard USAF O-5 commander is usually safely ensconced at a base with multiple senior ranking leaders and plenty of peers close by, it's easier to keep a lid on mistakes, and I also think that there's more opportunity in the USAF for CCs to receive rapid and informal correction/mentoring from their peers and superiors. Thus, failures of leadership in the USN seem to manifest in a much more large and serious sense. Because they typically come to light late and after the damage has been done, the Navy's only recourse in many cases is removal from command.
  22. I think it's also an issue of Navy commanders operating much more without a net compared to USAF commanders. A SQ/CC almost always has some sort of leadership network close at hand, whereas a Navy skipper is much more independent, forced to be self-reliant, and also consequentially works with MUCH less direct oversight. Thus, when a skipper screws-up, it's huge and makes headlines. Thus, the axe has but no choice but to swing.
  23. Dude, your wife puts out all the time, brah.
