  1. Cool I'll check it out. I think we had found a few in that area on Zillow. My only requirement is a decent (2+ car) garage though and a lot of those older houses have just a car port or nothing at all. Some of the houses are pretty cool though!
  2. I got J's to LR out of UPT and I'll be PCS'ing there in January. My wife and I are thinking about buying a house there, so I'm trying to get an idea of what areas/neighborhoods to look at or avoid. Any suggestions? So far we've been looking at Sherwood and North Little Rock; seems like you can get a decent house around there for a reasonable amount and it would be a good balance between my commute to the base and a short trip downtown for bars/restaurants/probable wife employment. We don't have kids so I don't really care about school districts, but future resale or (preferably) rental value would be a concern later on. Thanks!
  3. 2 And if you're going to toss half your clothes on the floor, at least save yourself some dignity and arrange it so your name tag isn't right on top!

  7. Just cause you're single doesn't mean you aren't eligible for BAH. You just don't collect any BAH if you happen to live in the dorms.
  8. Guardians of the Galaxy was not bad!
  9. True that. I'm interested as well depending on what the price ends up being. The MSRP from the article posted above in Swiss Francs works out to like $5500!
  10. Here's the basics of how a mechanical watch works: http://youtu.be/cZwq1KL4SD0 An automatic watch is pretty much the same except instead of you winding up the spring by hand, it has a weighted rotor that ratchets its way around bit by bit like Slander said, and that keeps the spring wound up. And then as you add more features like a date display, chronograph, etc., the mechanical bits get more and more complicated. So what you're paying for is a super precise hand built very complicated little machine!
  11. The way it works at Vance (which is also ran by Hunt) is your whole BAH goes to Hunt, and that also covers your electricity, gas, and water. Then every month you get a statement from the utilities company showing what you used compared to the average for that month or whatever. You get +/- credit for however much you're under/over the average, and then whenever your balance gets to +/-$50 they send you a check or I guess charge you your overage. I don't really do anything to try to conserve energy and we still get like $60 back most months, if that's any consolation.
  12. This looks like it could be decent http://youtu.be/O8u5eKUY0NI Transformers however was not that great
  13. Nope not that smart. But I can at least control what I shoot for!
  14. You can order it here for $25: http://secure.afa.org/joinafa/AFMagMay2014Order.aspx Anyone know if any stores would carry it? I didn't see it at the BX but then again they don't have anything else either. I'd be interested to see an up to date list, especially for C/MC/HC/AC-130's since it seems like there have been some changes in the last couple years. Trying to get some idea of what the heck I want to do after UPT.
  15. He mentioned it in that AFA speech a few months ago where he talked about mustache March. He said they should have their sign, and other bases should put up their own sign too, like Home of the Comm Guy and so on, since people should be allowed to take pride in their communities.
  16. Here's the Vance welcome packet; class dates are on page 6. http://www.vance.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-130215-019.pdf The other bases might have something like that on their websites also, this was linked on the Vance AFB main website.
  17. The Vance BX is alright just because you can buy cold beer that's more than 3.2% there, or any alcohol period on Sunday. That's more of a con for OK's ridiculous booze laws than a pro for the BX though I guess. Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
  18. Oh wow sounds challenging! What an accomplishment.
  19. Dude have you been to this forum? http://www.airforceots.com/portal/index.php It has all the info on OTS you could ever want and a lot that you probably don't. But anyway to answer some of your questions: 1. Yes, more than half I'd say. 2. Be in decent shape and have the airman's creed memorized. That's about it. Oh and have your finances in order cause you'll drop a bunch of money on uniforms within the first couple days. 3. Probably referring to the upper class/lower class system. When you get there there will be an upper class like 6 or 7 weeks ahead of you, and they will be largely in charge of managing you guys and showing you how everything works (mostly by yelling at the lower class). Then after a few weeks they graduate and it's just you and the instructors. Then after a couple more weeks a new class shows up and you are responsible for managing them. 4. Dealing with all the non priors. 5. A laptop and maybe a printer. Maybe some way of getting on the internet (mobile wi-fi hotspot or whatever), although I heard they were working on getting wi-fi installed in the dorms. Maybe there's more up to date info on the OTS forum about that. There are definitely lots of threads about what to bring. 6. Not much. Just make an effort to get along with the other people in your flight and be proactive getting stuff done for your guys. If you're the dude who just does your own shit and then goes to bed early every night, nobody is going to want to help you when you're struggling with something.
  20. Vance 14-14 track select 6x T-38 (3 US and 3 international) 16x T-1 (3 guard/reserve and 13 active) No helicopters
  21. God damn!!! How did that happen? Did the guy in the chute land right in front of the plane on takeoff roll or something? Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
