Legit!!! And thanks! I have been wanting to try a track day for a while, but I can't bring myself to do it on the Monster. Parts are too frickin expensive for that thing. Maybe one of these days I'll pick up a track slave that I won't care if I crash a bunch of times. Like a CBR or R6 that already has trashed plastics and looks like crap!

Nice! SV's are cool bikes. I looked at a few before I found my Duc. With an aftermarket exhaust they sound pretty cool too

Enlisted pin-on question
Dang, as an enlisted dude in the Army the way our unit did it was we'd go to a bar and whoever got promoted had to spend whatever amount their next paycheck increased by on drinks for everyone else! Maybe our commander was just cheap.

Gun Talk
Cool! Just out of curiosity, how do you make a holster like that? Do you put the gun between two pieces and heat them up to form them around it, or what? Looks like some good work anyway

Yes sir! It's a Monster 695. The maintenance on these things isn't too bad, especially if you're willing to do it yourself. If you take it to a dealer for everything it gets pretty expensive. The main item that everyone bitches about is adjusting the valves. It is a pain compared to normal (non-desmo) bikes but not too complicated really. Now mine is 2-valve engine which is the simplest one. If you get a 4-valve (like any of the liquid cooled engines) it is much more involved. Super Sports were all air-cooled 2-valvers I think so it's pretty much the same engine. The nice thing on Monsters though is there's no bodywork so everything is easy to get at. Mine is actually due for a valve adjustment this spring, but I'm getting ready to leave for OTS in a couple weeks so I don't think I'll get around to it. I'm hoping I'll be able to get it done while I'm on casual or something! But anyway if you're thinking about picking one up I definitely recommend it! They are a blast to ride and most people will assume you are cool if you ride a Ducati. Even if you're a total dweeb like I am.- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Also, you can hate on my old man bike, but that thing is pretty cool! It's pretty comfy two-up on long road trips so I can get my wife to come with most of the time I also have this Ducati, when I'm not working on it...- Motorcycle Riders Thread
Haha nah, we were braving the freezing rain for the annual "Frozen Snot Ride"! It is every year around this time in MKE, a group ride between a few coffee shops and bars around here. It's a pretty good time, especially if the weather totally sucks like it did this weekend because then you're guaranteed to get only the dedicated crazy people showing up. It was very sketchy in the morning when we set out because it had snowed overnight but it cleared up by about the second stop. We had a blast anyway. Here was our crew. There were probably like ~30 bikes total this year.- Motorcycle Riders Thread

Look at that baller in the Packers jacket at 1:10! There's not much snow left in my yard; I'm getting ready to give up coffee again for Spring.- Inside Combat Rescue
I have another question. On last week's episode they had to wait a couple hours to pick up the Afghan dude until the Army coould sweep the area for IED's so they could land. I was wondering why they couldn't pick the guy up with the hoist without landing. Would that still be way too dangerous if something blew up on the ground? Do these guys even have a hoist?- Columbus AFB Information
Speaking of working on cars, I was just looking at the resident guidelines, here: https://www.columbusf...dent-guidelines On page 5, under Motor Vehicles and Parking, it says: Does this mean you can't even change your oil in your own garage? Or does this just apply to parking lots? I usually do my own car work, and I do everything myself on our motorcycles, so do they really not allow you to do anything in your own garage???- WTF?
