Curiosity killing the cat here. Do T-6 FAIPs go onto heavies now, or is it where they could track T-38s after their FAIP tour? Civilian here, just pure curiosity as to how assignments work currently out of USAF UPT.

Not every SIB has a corresponding AIB.

Interesting. I assumed they were required by statute so there was something publicly releasable so the US taxpayer got to have some sort of insight into where their tax dollars just went.

Makes sense they wouldn’t have a releasable AIB for security reasons in some cases.

AMC has had SIB’s the AMC/CC elected to have a CDI instead of an AIB because they didn’t want certain “evidence” to become public.

I do have some inside info, a sim site manager is being hired at the end of this year, instructors spinning up in 2026, and they should start getting their jets around then. Look at UPT drops to be 2029-2030 (I thought it would be less than that).

MacDill is on the way in the late 2020s, but wont start deliver or PCS until the other MOBs are full up. March, MacDill, and Selfridge are the near rocks.

To be clear, T-38 studs can still faip to a T-6 and then get a fighter. At least as of a few months ago.

Ok, Thank You! On the heavy side of the house, do T-6 FAIPs that are assigned directly from the T-6 training go onto the T-1 sim then to their FAIP assignment, or is it straight UPT>IP Training>FAIP Assignment?

Yes it's the latter, non-T38 T6 FAIPS go from UPT T6s -> PIT -> FAIP tour -> straight to heavy FTU. No kind of T1 training exists for anyone anymore

And everything is still the same for T38-trained T6 FAIPs going to fighters. Since IFF is going away, new ones will do UPT T6s -> FBF (combined T38 UPT & IFF) -> T6 PIT -> T6 FAIP tour -> short T38 spinup -> B-Course
