Guest ThatGuy Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Thanks man, but now that it looks like I'm going to retire, I'm not going anywhere. I plan on coming thru the gate every morning at about 0715 and regaling the gate guard with long stories about my service overseas and lots and lots of questions and complaints about the pharmacy and PX. Going to be that guy! At least you have a plan. LMAO Edited April 2, 2014 by slick999

panchbarnes Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Talk about timing... I wonder who's the target audience? Front page AF.mil https://www.af.mil/News/ArticleDisplay/tabid/223/Article/475210/core-values-are-more-than-just-slogans.aspx Core values are more than just slogans / Published April 02, 2014 WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- Air Force senior leaders recently released a video as part of an ongoing effort to communicate the importance of living and adhering to the service core values. “Our core values are our first principles, and they guide everything we do – on and off duty; at home, in the office, and on the battlefield,” Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James says in the video. “Integrity is the inner voice that leads us to do the right thing, even when it’s hard and even when no one is looking.” “Service before self is the essence of our commitment to the nation … it’s what binds us as Airmen and our warfighting team,” Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III says. “That commitment is found in the oaths we take, and is represented in large and small ways around our Air Force every day. Our core values are more than just slogans.” “Excellence in all we do is all about passion,” Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James A. Cody says. “As Airmen, we must have an inner drive for continuous improvement, a drive that propels us as individuals and as a force into an upward spiral of performance and accomplishment. Core values matter.”(Courtesy of Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs) Edited April 2, 2014 by PanchBarnes

Altus Barbarosa Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I'll just throw this out there that I did email Lt Gen Cox directly this morning and he did in fact reply to me personally. Not worth posting here just an email from me being desperate for guidance and a short reply from him saying they're trying hard. Worth the note though to give him credit for not ripping me apart for going vfr but also not ignoring my plea. Good luck to those still waiting. 1 2
Mountain Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 As Airmen, we must have an inner drive for continuous improvement, a drive that propels us as individuals and as a force into an upward spiral...(Courtesy of Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs) Hear that, AFPC? UPWARD. Keep trying.

TrunkMonkey Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) BRB, gotta go run around the parking lot with my junk out. As a dude working his tail off and checking mypers & vMPF whenever I get a break, this sentence made my entire day. Hope you put on a good show Mountain! My TERA purgatory continues... As much as this thing has been jacked up from an A1 perspective, I can tell you without a doubt that Sam Cox is a great guy and a true Leader... One of the very few GO's of late. He took over recently at A1, but I don't think you will find anyone who has worked with him that wouldn't put him in the Gen Welsh category as being one of the good guys. Fozzy Bear Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I am admittedly jaded but none are "good guys" in my book when you break your word. Credibility is shot. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! 1
FUSEPLUG Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Any intel on the new matrices? Refuse to bring a CAC reader home and too lazy to drive my ass into the squadron to check. Becoming very apathetic toward my "career" at this point. Maybe I'll get drunk. Aim High 2
stract Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 You're right corrections made; however, out of all the info in the post the only comment is on the spelling of Welsch's name? Welsh is a tough one; it would be easier if it were Nebuchadnezzar. You're destined for 0-6. Pull that TERA app! Just kidding. I appreciate it, accept for the cussing at me about spelling errors. I am much better on a team than by myself. Too late, my DOS was yesterday! Just curious...how many times have you made these fantastic corrections (I'm recalling quite a few)? Does this mistake in particular really bother you that much or are you now BO's spell checker? I think just you and Fiver, maybe one or two others who can't seem to consistently get the CSAF's name right. Must be a pet peeve of mine for whatever reason...probably because I also have a last name people often misspell.
North48 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Still no dice for TERA. Any O-5/11X 15-19yr approved out there? Congrats to the folks who got approved today. Edited April 3, 2014 by North48

Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! Great.. where's he holding people accountable for this screw up? Oh.. he's not going to strat them on their OPR, or let them get that next star. That'll show the youngin's he means business! A sharply worded email should fix this right up.
Shaft34 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Still no dice for TERA. Any O-5/11X 15-19yr approved out there? Congrats to the folks who got approved today. Same boat for me North48. Hopefully we'll get some word one way or another by the end of the week.

That'll show the youngin's he means business! A sharply worded email should fix this right up. Hey, I'm not apologizing for him. What I'm saying is that I've seen horrible Commanders and I've seen really good Commanders... Cox was a great Commander. If you can meet anyone who worked for or with him that disagrees I'd be shocked. As jacked up as this whole deal has been there have been plenty of folks on here defending Welsh (rightfully so)... Cox is cut from the same cloth. I'll trash the current managers wearing Stars as much as the next guy, but I'm willing to say from personal experience that Cox is a real leader and I wish we had more like him. ChkHandleDn Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Are you at an undisclosed in location in Southwest Asia where it's April 1st? Haha very funny. Nope. Here's a copy of the email: "Gents, Col XXX attended a VTC today where it was announced that the AF is going to waive 550 pilot/flying ADSCs for VSP. There were no details on how many to which year groups, airframes, etc. BL - if you were still considering VSP but gave up on it when you heard they weren't going to waive any formal flying training ADSCs, the opportunity is again available. Please come see me if you are considering it. LtCol XXXX Commander, XXX"
tunes Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Congrats to all of those approved for TERA...lets hope us VSPers have the same luck!
Nasty2004 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Nope. More than 25% of FY14 has gone down the drain between the initial announcement and this one. I saw that AFPC's latest timeline moved the goalposts for Officer VSP/TERA from 1 Apr to 30 Apr.
