So, found this doing a search on e-pubs. Goes into detail on how a RIF board operates. Of note is that it specifically addresses (and no kidding refers to them as) "Do not retain me" letters. The board president can move someone down in their retention ranking based off submitting a "do not retain me" letter.

I like how directly under paragraph 26.2, the first selection record it lists to be added to put you back in the gray zone is "attending a school in PCS status"...as if to say it is more important than the ones listed underneath it, such as MOH recipient, POW, etc...

Shows what's really "important" in a career...

LOL...Or 26.2.7. "Any officer possessing a skill (to include capabilities, experiences, and other attributes) approved by SecAF and identified in the board details as critical to the Air Force."
Wonder if flying an airplane is a skill critical to the AF.
Probably not.

Does anyone know if I show my cards and apply for a separation date of 1 Jan 15 under normal conditions (not under one of the FM programs) am I at risk for AFPC looking at that and basically saying "Oh, you want to separate? How about you get out 1 Apr instead."

I am a non flyer (ATCer) looking to get out and go FAA. I am not eligible for any VSP money and I want to stay on active duty until the end of the year to minimize my gap in employment.

Had a buddy (O-5) get notified he was SERB'd this morning… needs to retire this Spring. Not sure if everyone is notified at once or if they are doing it individually. Anyone else here of folks getting the call today?

Normally the results are released at one time and senior raters are directed to notify those affected. IIRC the mandatory retirement date is 1 July 2014.

Awesome

I see it as "more likely" vice "more important." How many POWs/MOH recipients are there? Of those, how many would fall below the grey zone? I see the guy with a narrative RRF from the last duty station as potentially getting screwed. This gives the Board President a chance to say "The AF thought highly enough of this guy to send him to school. Now, his board score indicates a clean kill for separation... That doesn't jive, Let's look into this."

AF Times has a article that changes the eligibilty criteria again. I'll add the link when able

Fighter, Rescue, and RPA aircrew are ineligible according to AF Times. Special Tactics and a few other officer positions are also not invited to the party. Basically everyone else is eligible.... according to AF Times.

Link??

FYI, word I got today was that SERB results were released last Friday. As is customary, there is no public release but individuals should already be notified by their chain of command.

Link??

This is the old, outdated info. As usual, AF Times simply takes available info and puts it in a blender until it turns into some sort of slurry. Still no updates since before Christmas.

Thanks. I thought by chance it would have new information. I feel dumb for thinking that!

So nothing new compared to the matrix? Copy chaff.

Actually, the matrix included 11S for 2004 yeargroup, but the document did not. so actually this is new/ different data.

Word. One of these days we'll get the requirements. You'd think after a month from telling the masses, they'd have this thing ironed out.

So we received a PowerPoint briefing today via email originating from the AFFOR/A1 Deputy.

In the "Parting Thoughts" slide it is shown that:

Each Airman should: Start TAP when notified of eligibility….don’t wait for board results

Copy, so after I distract myself from my warfighting obligations trying to figure out if I or my troops are eligible for this crap, and get done writing god only knows how many RRFs, I'll make an appoint to go do TAP just in case.

Culminating in the final "Parting Thought":

Don’t be afraid to ask questions…this is your career and future!

It is?!? I have a question...that no one can answer....

WTF,

Bendy

What document? The only source for eligible AFSCs to my knowledge was the matrix. What am I missing?
