  1. "Lt. Jones, it looks like you haven't started your masters. If you don't start it you will be well behind your peers..."
  2. I imagine that if the US Airways Flight 1549 had been an air force airplane, Sullenburger would have been canned for taking off in a dangerous bird condition. Then he would have been raked over the coals because he and his FO didn't reference the landing with one or more engines inop, landing with erroneous airspeed indications, ditching, and and finally evacuation checklists before hitting the water. I imagine the scheduler would have laughed at him if he had said, "we're not going to go today because of the high probabilty of migratory bird patterns around the field." Well at least the AMC/CC got his golden parachute...
  3. Of course, only the CONUS airshows were affected by sequestration...
  4. I'm not throwing spears about the cash card. It is what it is. The thing I have an issue with is the fact that there has been zero movement on tobacco sales at the BX. The only way to procure it is buying it blackmarket from transient aircrews or having it shipped in (they just began limiting tobacco to 10oz through the mail). As most transient aircrews aren't in theater long enough to justify getting a cash card the only way to pay is with cash, which you can no longer get. This place is becoming more and more of a prison...
  5. Got an e-mail recently that you can no longer get cold hard cash from finance in the AFCENT AOR. The only exceptions will be in an emergency and if it is signed by your commander. However you are free to and encouraged to use your Eagle Cash Card at all on base locations. Also, there is still no tobacco at one particular "undisclosed location in southwest Asia." Welcome to the fight!
  6. "When I joined the force, I thought there was semen on everything. I often dream about everything being covered in semen."
  7. Sweet, does this mean we'll get more flying hours and cuts to BAH and healthcare will be off the table? I am speechless that our government can't agree on a budget but by God we can agree on bombing people!
  8. Yeah they're going to start giving pilot slots only to those cadets who have started their masters and completed SOS (would be ASBC but that died) in correspondence...
  9. I never said it was our problem. But ask Joe civilian that is inundated with images of kids getting gassed on cnn if he thinks something should be done. Don't take it out of context, I want bad guys to kill bad guys just as much as you do.
  10. Dang, so using this logic, I've flown 737, 757, 767, J-3, C152, C172, T-6, T-1, C-17, A330. SUCCESS! I'm totally putting this on my resume when I get riffed and the hiring boom starts...
  11. Problem is the civilians in the crossfire, other than that, carry on...
  12. I'm gonna laugh at the first DA-20 I see in someone's bio...
  13. Welp add another hfp/hdp location to the list. Or is that going to be another victim of sequestration?
  14. Duh, Fall semester just started at TCU...
  15. Boys, boys, boys... You all are missing the point. The point is not that civilians are dying or our current enemy is fighting our future enemy or some convoluted mess thereof. What's really concerning is that with this whole sequestration thing there are large companies who give lots of money to congress that are going to be taking hits to their bottom line after we pull out from Afghanistan. I'm sure General Dynamics is ready to provide as many Predators Reapers and Avengers as we need and Boeing is ready to bring Airlift, fighters, etc. Halliburton, URS, & Sallyport are ready to provide hot meals and base support to the personnel on a new base in a neighboring country that they will gladly build for a no bid contract rate. I as an American citizen am willing to let Arabs kill Arabs in an Arab country but those companies are really just looking out for humanity and ensuring that select politicians get reelected...
  16. Well bro ya got the attitude I'll give ya that. To be honest there was some good to be found in Clovis, Kingswood Methodist was a good place with good peoples. The golf course on base is the nicest you'll find for a few hours drive; and in the wintertime Santa Fe ski resort is an afternoon's drive away. Hell, the 4th of July celebration was kind of cool, they actually broadcast the music that coincides with the fireworks over the local radio station, and although I never visited it there's a zoo. The guys out at United Aero (if it's still there) will hunt prarie dogs on the field to feed the animals (he's a crusty F-4 driver) but I can't remember names. At any rate congrats on the house, here's to hoping yours and mine increase in value in the coming years... Cheers bud.
  17. I left early for "greener pastures" in Enid...
  18. I spent 9 months in Clovis on casual; I don't envy the single guys that live there. When I was there in '07 a MSgt I went to church with had his house broken into and subsequently burned down by a kid his daughter went to school with, apparently it was a helluva party. That was in addition to the string of church robberies, and also one of the bros who had his house broken into that was occuring at the same time. With that in mind you will never find Cannon on my dream sheet. Best of luck to the guys there or the ones that are going.
