  1. Well I can't be that mad at the azz kissers, primarily because I see it as "if I tell General x the truth he's going to look at me and ask me what to do about it. I don't have an answer and it would make me look dumb hence lose faith in my shininess, so I'll just say, 'everything's great sir.'" Kind of like a stranger asking how you're doing on a crappy day and you tell them Fine so you don't have to deal with their response too.
  2. Seriously? I can't stand driving more than 3 hours at a stretch anymore and the steering wheel doesn't have fu**ing trim. I broke 2000 hrs with the family on a cross country trip in a rented Bonanza. Every day I try to figure out the financing to be able afford a plane on my own so I don't have to drag the family through security or be at the airport at the crack of dawn to meet a departure time. It is much more relaxing to look at the weather and say, "looks like we're having Cajun food instead of bbq for lunch..." edit: grammar and punctuation
  3. At least those guys have someone who will tell them like it is instead of quibbling...
  4. But Lord help you if you want to be an airline pilot following your commitment.
  5. Oh badass, I'm a millennial too. Can I get some avocado toast? I'm gonna take it all back and be a libtard millenial. I own it so what big whoop, wanna fight about it?
  6. Ran over after I read this. Seems life at the Deid may get a smite crappier if they don't figure this out... Anyone out there that can cast some light on it?
  7. It's like a pilot with an ADSC trying to sort out an exit strategy... my heart smiles that the Air Force has a losing hand...
  8. Denied, asked 18 months off with AGR job in place...
  9. Thanks for the quick reply. I sorted it out when I started considering the terms 365 day deployment vice remote assignment.
  10. So is this what being a bent pilot was all about?
  11. Quick question, palace chase paperwork in, no response yet after almost 4 months. I have 22 months left on my commitment and all of a sudden I am magically short listed for a remote? Is this a coincidence or by design?
  12. Well the wife and I have talked and when my commitment is up I'm going to become a homemaker and support her career. My wife's job is super important and she works long hours with others so I'm going to start a club for the other husbands to have get togethers and build up the spouses network. Granted she teleworks so all of our meetings (and kids play dates) will have to be over Skype but with all the things going on in the world I think there should be a better support network for her coworkers dependents. Her job keeps her so busy and now that we have kids someone has to sacrifice their career, she may be going overseas next year for six months or so as well to manage stocking toilet paper in the Doha office even though she works in the medical field. Maybe if we're lucky while she's gone, I can volunteer to help set her up for success and get her more face time with her boss and maybe help her get her next promotion. I think she's going to volunteer to coordinate the company gift exchange this year so my plate is going to be FULL over the coming months in preparation. I also heard there is a program to be a prime spouse (it requires a week of mandatory training and being on call one week a month), I may try that as well. What do you all think? Now imagine if I were being serious you would think I was crazy. Why do we do this to ourselves?
  13. Moved to what's wrong with the Air Force...
  14. Which I mean is great if you're a politician trying to save some cash here or there. "Hey I have a great idea, we can charge for this benefit and those young whippersnappers will want every penny of their paycheck so they won't use it." Screwing over the young and poor, way to go congress making America great again as always... next up is a contract for a defense contractor in the congressmans district for useless stuff the military doesn't need which is double the cost it needs to be and will be pushed to "support our troops..." thanks for your service...
  15. Got offered an AGR job yesterday and told the OG that I didn't know what my status is at month 4...
  16. No way; the AF will do what has worked thus far and make the rated folks fix their own planes. And they'll commission a contractor for a web based portal that provides the oversight...
  17. Soooo, just out of curiosity lets say they do enact stop loss and I'm one of the lucky few. So then what? I get to keep flying the line with minimal office work until the crisis is over and then I am free to get my line number or do I become a bent pilot? If I get stop loss will the icing on my cake be a staff job for a tour or a six month deployment to a sunny location where I can hone my PowerPoint skills; all of the above???
  18. I gotta admit every time I see that in mass blast email I throw up in my mouth a little...
  19. Hell if I was a first assignment captain I would seriously consider going to upt; especially in tones. Multi-engine IP a-code time for three years while being home practically every weekend and holiday (not to mention ftu IP on a resume) would be awesome...
