  1. Standing by for overreaction in 3, 2, 1...

    http://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140509/NEWS/305090060/Hagel-instructs-services-renew-efforts-fighting-alcohol-abuse

On base, the services can consider measures such as restricting the time window for selling alcohol, discouraging happy-hour drink specials that lead to binge drinking and requiring bar and restaurant staffers to undergo training in how to identify and intervene in situations that appear to pose a high risk for sexual assault.

Off base, installation commanders could work with local bar owners and liquor stores to expand similar efforts.

    good luck with that

  2. @tunes

What base? Any justification for the denial?

I'm a 2006 11R and the suspense is killing me.

Beale. 1 was told it was because he had the wrong IRR (edited to add: he was only told to update, not denied) ...the one I was talking about said he only got an email saying "denied, you are welcome to apply when the next window opens may 22"

  3. The regionals are basically hiring anyone that meets FAA requirements...even if they have to add .3 per sortie for taxi time to get to that 750 (totally legal and legit but shows how desperate the regionals are to get people). I don't know anyone that already had a restricted ATP BEFORE they got hired though because the sim check counts as your ATP practical.

Pretty sure you can't do the added .3 per sortie when getting your times for a faa rating. My understanding is there is no reg that allows that and it is airline specific for hiring purposes only.

  4. This was my logic also. Would I like the PURE freedom to get out and get money in addition? Absolutely. But this SEEMS to be a business decision by the AF and despite being a military, decisions will be made from a business standpoint (IMO). To me the VSP is a gamble, none of us know how they will truly figure this out. PC on the other hand is an easier decision because they aren't completely losing you. Of course I could be way off, but I just got approved in less than 2 days after submitting my PC app with a position number. If some of you are on the fence and have a position number, just think about it because a lot of people are quickly getting approved right now. Good luck everyone.

    2007 11M, 4 years 3 months of ADSC remaining

The problem is at least at my base it takes about a month from when you start the PC app to when it's submitted to afpc. Most of us went with vsp because of the whole they said monthly batches.... And you are attempting to apply logic... Something big blue is unfamiliar with.

  5. I believe in this instance it will (could?) probably be a third MWS for Slick and some of the other MC-12 guys, since right now we have more questions than answers. Legacy Herk guys maybe or maybe not going to the J, Hog guys going who knows where and all the mobility guys who came here due to 169% manning in their previous communities. Many waiting on May 1, the AF isn't creating any more cockpits...

    Except the mc12 isn't a mws....

  6. Where does it say that? I just re-read it (the email sent via 489th) and I don't see that request. I assume there is a counterpart email for the 427th...is that where that is coming from?

There would be some logic to giving those people assignments that would not require immediate replacement (i.e. Not one deep). I'm not saying it's sound logic, just logic. ...or, it's to fuck you over with a shitty assignment, that would be logical too.

    Bendy

I'm on leave so that was the 427 email someone forwarded to me. I was told 489 was the same but I guess that parts not in the 489 one.
