  1. Yes. Both times, I actually hadn't started to research refinancing until he called to let me know what his credit was up to. The lenders credit fluctuates daily, and depending on the day you enter a contract, you can gain or lose $1K from the previous day. It's crazy how much luck is involved.

this. we are closing in a week and the week between when we were getting pre-approved and actually found a house to get locked in it went from 3.25 with 2k credit to only a 400 credit....timing is everything.

  2. Why is that?

    My opinion:

CA has great scenery and lots of good outdoors stuff, but that's where the positives stopped for us. Everything else was expensive and we weren't fans of the gun laws there and the other CA politics.

Dover for us isn't the best, but there is lot's to do around and Delaware is unbelievably cheap in terms of property tax and no sales tax and goods in general.

  3. You need to have someone MPF-ish (I'm an IMA, so not sure who is person would be in the TR world) file an AF Form 77. The period of the report is the date your last active duty OPR closed out until the date you were official gained at your current unit. In the remarks section, they should write "No report available from Date XX through Date XX. No report required according to AFI 36-2406." This happened to me when I left AD as well. Filing the AF77 will rehack your close-out date.

    thanks!
  4. Anyone know the rules with oprs? I went on terminal with less than 120 days of supervision after my last opr closed out. I got an LOE because my reserve unit said at least get that. I palace fronted into the reserves. The civilian on base is now telling me my opr is due and it sticks with my opr date from active duty? The problem is I was on terminal for a little over 4 months and only been to 2 UTAs since ive been busy with my civilian job.....what she is saying doesnt sound right to me...my take is that my opr date should be 1 year from when I entered the reserves...since I came palace front its basically like I entered the reserves from the street so shouldnt that be when my clock starts ticking for an opr? Hoping someone around here has some experience with this kind of thing.

  5. Anyone know how long it takes to get in-processed into the Reserves and then put on orders?

I am separating AD on 2 March and supposed to be on orders for training on 12 Mar in the Reserves. Is this a realistic timeline for shoe-clerks to knock this out or should I try and push my date earlier? I'd appreciate anybody's insight who recently made the jump. I've contacted my unit and recruiter and got the "ahhh, I am not quite sure".

best of luck. I separated from AD on 29 Sep...gained to my unit 30 Sep but they weren't able to schedule me for newcomers until the Nov UTA....had to go through that before being able to do anything in my sq.

  6. Does anyone know if you can change your date of separation to an earlier date? I originally requested to separate on 31 Dec, but I was just offered a job with a cargo company that needs me to start on Nov 10th and unfortunately I don't have enough leave built up to go terminal that soon.

i know a guy that pushed his back but still within the window. I'd highly doubt they would have a problem moving yours up....but then again it is big blue.

  7. For those of you that PC'd and received TAMP, how long after your separation did it take for DEERS to update so you were eligible? I was told it takes up to 30 days for my unit to officially gain me, and during those days my family is not covered. Anyone find any quick work arounds; or am I stuck to just sitting, waiting, and paying out of pocket with the hope that Tricare will reimburse me once I'm officially back in DEERS?

my DOS was 29 Sep and 6 Oct my unit told me i could come get my TAMP card....i called tricare that day and switched back to prime...they back dated it to 30 Sep.

  8. Yup, similar issue I'm having, but I Palace Chased. I supposedly qualify for TAMP, but was told that it takes up to 30 days for my unit to gain me thanks to the slow ass process at ARPC. Until that time, my family has no health care. Of course the DEERS office's recommended solution is to pay out of pocket and Tricare "should" reimburse us when they back date our TAMP qualification date, but I know how that works. What a clown show.

Going through this right now. Turns out my scroll went 23 sep and my is at my losing base didn't know.... Was gained by my unit within a week and tricare back dated my coverage to day after separation date.

You do have healthcare immediately if you are TAMP eligible. I ran into the same issue but ARPC will gain you much quicker than that. I called Tricare while still on active duty and they also said they would backdate and pay everything. The day after I separated I called Tricare to check my status and the TAMP was in the system and my family and I were fully covered.

My guard unit told me it would take 4-6 weeks to get gained into the system but I went back to the Dyess ID card office 1 week after swearing in and they said I was showing in the system as gained and gave me a new, normal CAC, not the green one, and my TAMP card.

The TAMP benefits are essentially Tricare Standard. If you were on Prime before you may need to select off-base Dr's with Tricare. Also beware that you do NOT have any dental insurance through TAMP until you call them and set it up. They charge around $80/month for a family.

I agree that it is a huge clown show. I spend at least 15 hours on the phone and running around base trying to get this sorted out before I left active duty but never had any luck. However, since the day I left, everything was very smooth and the insurance was available right away.

I also called and switched back to prime.
