  1. Thats what I figured, but I don't know if this discussion earlier was a joke or not and it threw me off. Like there was some cross training going on or something and the guy earlier mentioning an F-18 unit with a AF captain.
  2. I must of missed something, the AF operates hornets now (or has been apparently)? I did a google search but didnt turn up much outside of other countries Air Force operating them.

Awesome, it reminds me of that guy that was selling mentoring to become a AF pilot. Edit: looked up the website, looks pretty similar to the Chief one. http://www.becomeairforcepilot.com/
  4. Just FYI, I'm sure most of you are aware but USAA discontinued this. It was either lose the ATM Rebates or lose the Debit - as - Credit Rewards. I have a USAA Mastercard and AMEX. The AMEX is a joint card used by me and my GF (got tired of askign checkout lady to split transaction for us). Each earns 1 point per dollar. What really is cool though is goign into the USAA Membershop and you can get more points at certain merchants. Example, drugstore.com is 6 points a dollar, I ordered something I was going ot purchase there anyway so I earned extra points. I used to be able to earn 7 points per $1 at theknot.com buying gift cards for items id be spending on anyway (gas cards, amazon etc). While I do justify using my credit card over my debit card often because of the points, I never spent more freely because of the points, and I never put myself in a situation where I can not cover the charge I also pay the balance every month. Now USAA offers an AMEX same deal but it is 2 points on gas and groceries id of gotten this had I opened the account one month later. while it may be trivial in short term, I buy enough gas and groceries to not see some sort of benefit to it. W use all of our joint purchase points at the end of the year on reverting to cash for christmas gifts or we will use it for a vacation.
  5. Search only brought up questions about supplements. At age 29 I'm pretty much (well am) no longer eligible to go for pilot, however I am still interested in pursuing service. I was just given a prescription for low testosterone form the doc, just wondering if having a medical history of that will ever raise any issues down the line.Google wasn't very helpful either on this one. Thank you!
  6. If I recall (someone feel free to correct me, Im going back to AFJROTC back in high school on this), the origin of having a mustache regulation dates back to WW1. The reasoning behind it was to enable the user to get a proper seal on a gas mask, I assume it has just evolved from that. Sorry if that doesn't answer your question.
  7. Noted. In my defense the topic is over 4 years old.
  8. Last I knew that would probably be a good thing. Best of luck on the decision, I'm not anywhere near walking the walk, and never will, but 7 years does pass by rather quickly and I would bet that guaranteed pay would be nice to have. On account of some bad financial choices my parents made (bought into a restaurant franchise that failed)when my father was laid off at age 62, if he didn't have his retirement pay coming in they'd be out on the street in 3 months assuming the best. Instead they are able to survive and live happy. Again this isn't likely to be everyone's case but they aren't the first people to ever make a bad decision that bit them in the butt. Another thing to consider though is the BS or "queep" as its called it exists on the corporate world as well. I go into work everyday with the thought in the back of my mind I might get called into my bosses office and let go, I'm a great employee consistently score above average on my reviews, but the threat is still there, I do many BS reports every day I'm sure run quite close to the "Phony OPR' you mention. So its still out there, just got to hope you land at a place that it isn't as bad, the ANG of the corp world if you will. Again I'm not nearly as qualified as everyone here heck I dont even know what its like to have kids to worry about and take into account on my life decisions so take my advice fwiw. But the grass is always greener. Id of given anything at one time (hell probably still would) to be in your position as unenviable as it sounds.
  9. I completely forgot about the league halfway through the year so finishing 8th isn't to bad, Let me know who to pay pal the money too.
  10. What is 27 stones? Edit: never mind.. I was being lazy "The stone is a unit of measure, which in practice is usually a mass of about 6.35 kilograms." 27 stones = 378 Pounds
  11. Looks like someone is already stating their displeasure on the talk page, if you guys want to add something, to it here is the link, So it is known that more than one person is putting something in there, might want to Date your entry. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Dos_Gringos&action=edit
  12. Went to the Dos Gringos Wikipedia page today, apparently it was deleted in October because they don't meet Wikipedia's standards for being an artist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dos_Gringos "Although these guys have an interesting story, I could not find any reliable sources at all about them. They have an All Music entry, which reveals that all but one of their CDs was self-released, with the exception of one released on the Viper Driver label. I don't think this meets WP:MUSIC standards for inclusion. Deprodded."
  13. I am new to ESPN FF and I am unable to join it it might be really obvious, but I am not seeing it.
  14. If everyone else is up for it, Im in for $20 What is BLOS?
  15. I figured everyone else was doing it... Saw it on another forum, no idea who it is..
  16. While it pales in comparison, when I was about 6 my Huffy bike was stolen on Andrews AFB in the housing area..
  17. Still wondering if this is the form that people are mentioning here And taken from the page. "Any cycloplegic cannot be > - 5.50 for FC1 or > -8.00 (no hyperopia allowed) for FC1A/II/III duties in any meridian to be acceptable. (No exceptions)" It doesn't talk about astigmatism in there I thought PRK and Lasik correct astigmatism to a degree Also whats the difference between Lasik and Epi-Lasik looking at some plans they talk about Conventional lasik, Custom Lasik, and Blade less Lasik (something about computer guided) are all forms of Lasik acceptable. And there seems ot be an ongoing discussion which is better PRK vs Lasik, I have heard that with PRK since the part of the eye is removed it grows back stronger rather then the "flap" associated with Lasik, Id have to look into it more because I have no idea myself which is better. Heck I dont even know if Id qualify for either one!
  18. Bump, I guess my thought on reading this is it might actually be worse, now instead of just seeing the GPA, the guys looking at my transcript will see every class I took and they can look over my whole college career, why did you fail algebra? and take it twice, why did you withdraw from so many classes? Hopefully they would take into thought that that was early on (around 5 years ago and I finished school pretty strong to try to make up for my slacker days)
  19. I was asking where to find the ""PRK ACCESSION WAIVER CRITERIA CHECKLIST"" and I did some goggling and was wondering if I had found it.
  20. Sorry im still questioning this, its just been pounded in my head so long that GPA is extremely important to the REQUIREMENTS portion, that it is hard to ease out of that idea. My thought process was when the GPA worksheet was in use, it stated black and clear EVERY class you have ever taken, so I quite honestly got a bad start to school and got a few bad grades, however USAF doesn't have a "grade forgiveness" policy. So I buckled down and pulled my GPA back up to a 2.8 by the time I had graduated (2.89 according to the USAF GPA sheet, a 3. something according to my university. So i figured I would continue taking classes at the local community college to improve my GPA as far as the AF was concerned, as well as to keep myself competitive for grad school. So I guess now it just seems the extra efforts I put in after my degree might be lost in the eyes of USAF, but it will still help out (hopefully) to grad school admissions. So does the new change now entail just looking at what the grades were overall are they just gonna look at the school GPA, or what? what GPA will they look at as an assistant in determining who gets picked up? does anyone have any real experience going through with the new changes yet?
  21. http://www.specialtactics.com/pjcctprk.pdf Is this the checklist your tailing about how does one acquire this checklist, another question that has me confused all to heck. My optometrist wanted to put me in glasses that would go to 20/10, I said no, and asked for an even weaker prescription so my glasses take me to 20/40 ( I have read that the stronger your prescription the worse your eyes get) so is it your prescription to get you to the cutoff (20/70) or to 20/20, im confused, and im sure this information is in here somewhere, but i don't see it (then again i'm not wearing my glasses :).
