I heard he flew a SHB so fast that he wound up in 1941 fighting Japanese Zeroes... then when he returned to the present, he was already slow and at idle and couldn't recover.

(Equally as plausible as someone filibustering on freq about vaccines during an ejection sequence)

I don't know that I'd want to BFM a Zero in a Battle Penguin, especially the B/C with no gun.

We had a T-34 support a WTI course at Yuma to BFM Hornets... It wasn't good for the 4th gen team.

  2. F*cking hypocrites. It is a shame that such an amazing place to live (CA) has been turned into this terrible state due to leftist policies that idiots guided (I'm assuming) solely by their emotions, enact.

Thank God the CA universal healthcare didn't make it through...

    ... Until next year.

The claim is has come from some former VFA skippers, one of whom claims to have heard the PLAT audio. A Navy skipper who is a friend of mine vouches for him.
But until that audio is released, it won't get much traction.

Concur, unless there is audio available to everyone it doesn't matter.

For what it is worth, hearing rumors inside the community and having seen the video, it sounds like a shit hot break went poorly. If you listen to the audio the engine is awfully quiet, which occurs when you try to get on-speed... Until there is either a "wave-off" call from the LSO or the pilot realizes that he's well below glideslope when you hear the engine try to spool, far too late.

Suspect it'll be a long time before anyone knows the reality except those who witnessed the event.

It's a pipe dream...but I'd vote for a Tulsi Gabbard/Nikki Haley ticket (no matter which name was on top) in a heartbeat.

And it would automatically short-circuit any "misogynist/racist/xenophobic" attacks.

Can they alternate whose on top? 😎

This Big Pharma argument is so disingenuous. If you refuse to trust pharmaceutical companies, the CDC, and the FDA, fine. I have no problem with that. Just be intellectually honest and stop shopping at the grocery store. Stop taking your Tylenol, your Prilosec, and your Viagra. Go grow your own vegetables, raise your own meat, and stop taking all medications. To do anything otherwise means you implicitly trust the system in place and are talking out of your ass.

I'm guessing that you're obese because you've been following the old food pyramid most of your life which recommends 11 servings of carbohydrates a day...

  6. @nsplayr, no these questions should be asked where the public can bear witness. If there are sources that were involved then perhaps they should be revealed. There are no "methods" that could be divulged from answering those questions.

No? You don't think that everything that happens is a power play by someone? I'm sorry to tell you, but you are incredibly naive.

The interview is a little hard to follow based on Bourla’s accent, so I pulled up the transcript. I can’t find the “very limited protection” quote you posted. He remarks that the current three dose vaccine provides “reasonable” protection against “severe disease” and “hospitalization” specifically against the Omicron variant. The transcript is posted below. Is there something missing from the transcript where he says the quote you’re referring to?

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/01/10/first-on-cnbc-cnbc-transcript-pfizer-chairman-and-ceo-albert-bourla-speaks-with-cnbcs-squawk-box-today.html

I listened to him say those words in the video interview that I watched yesterday.

  8. I'm curious if 1) The media will try to hide/censure that interview (it's already been removed from a few places), and 2) If vaccine proponents will continue to blindly follow whatever big pharma and the media propose for "protection" or if that single admission of failure is enough to have some of them start questioning their blind allegiance.

I'm fearful it might not be enough because espousing their vaccine status and masking has become an identity for so many...

But health insurance does cost more for smokers...?

But putting that aside, someone overdosing on drugs can't make me sick. Someone shoveling down Big Macs can't make me fat. Someone smoking can't give me lung cancer (despite all the screaming about second-hand smoke).

Unvaccinated people who refuse to wear masks absolutely increase the probability that those around them get infected.

See the difference? It's not a choice about your individual health...it's a choice that affects everyone around you. Which is usually the bar for mandates - government doesn't care if you get drunk, because that won't affect anyone else. But they care if you drive drunk, because your decision now increases the risk for others on the road.

Obese people cause higher rates in general because others have to subsidize the, often, poorer segment of society who make up a larger portion of the obese.

At age 65 the rate at which someone causes a motor vehicle accident begins to increase significantly. Should we take away all drivers licenses for people when they turn 65?

Oh gmafb! Refusing a direct order to get vaccinated (especially after you’ve already rolled up your sleeve for a phalanx of them) is HARDLY the same thing as looking the other way as your army marches an entire race of people into death camps. The constant comparisons to Nazi Germany/Stalinist Russia/etc. are laughable at best and highly offensive at worst and they make it hard to take any of your arguments seriously. What do you think leadership would’ve told some marine who refused to storm the beaches of Iwo Jima on religious grounds? Seriously, if someone was pulling this shit on any other issue, you’d call them out for the whiny, entitled bitches they are.

    That's a capital "M" to you. 😆

It’s a common misconception that the first amendment gives you any more protection for yourself than freedom from gov persecution. It’s not freedom from societal judgment. Not even an iota.

Fairly sure no one thinks that. Everyone knows that words can have consequences.

The way the right - and folks on this forum, specifically - argues about COVID is super dumb in that it takes uninformed black and white stances or, a recent favorite, uses statistics in a totally inapplicable way. The "scientific" approach to any argument is clearly with the left, because the right doesn't even attempt to use data effectively.

You're wrong - Find me one person on here who is black and white about the vaccine who is conservative - That is only on the left. I guarantee you anyone who is against the vaccine personally doesn't care if others want to take it. That's the difference. We want you to be able to make a personal decision because this vaccine is anything but proven. You and everyone on the left want everyone to be forced to take it regardless of their own individual research and responsibility.

To play devils advocate, you don’t get to ask that question and not have the same thrown back at you. You’ll find it’s equally difficult to answer.

What level of annual mortality risk are you willing to accept? Are you good with a 5-15% mortality risk for a highly contagious disease for those over the age of 70ish? If not, what mortality risk do you think is good? Should we let the disease spread freely throughout our society? Or do you think there should be any attempt to slow the spread? Is a 1-2% risk of mortality for those over 60 okay? What level of hospitalization of Americans are you comfortable with? How many months of cancelling elective surgeries and minor medical care are you comfortable with?

I think most people went into this with good intentions. Decrease the absurdly high risk that some demographics would be literally decimated, somehow. I think we’ve now effectively done that and should call this complete, but my point is that it’s not easy to put an effective bounds on what the goals should be from either viewpoint. As absurd as it is that Fauci is arguing he thinks we should potentially wear masks ad infinitum, it’s also absurd in my view that some people - some of them on this forum - think we should have done nothing ever. There’s a balance.

The annual mortality of people over 70 is > 4%. Without whatever you want to add for covid. For your SA.

That "balance" should have ended long ago. Having the White House tell its citizens they and their families are facing death is far from that when we all know better.

Cool. And here are some scientists that believe in creationism:

I could also point you in the direction of some pilots who believe the earth is flat, biologists who believe in Bigfoot, astronomers who believe the moon landing was faked, etc, etc. Do they have equal credibility because of their credentials? Look, I’m not saying there aren’t issues with mainstream science and/or media. But when someone is arguing outside of  what is generally accepted by the mainstream, that tends to be a red flag and they better back it up with some extraordinary proof. The chances that you’ve stumbled upon some brilliant doctor on social media who spews truth and is too base for the “lame stream” are pretty slim.

Every MD in California was sent a notification that stated they could lose their certification by the California Medical Board stating that they would potentially lose their license if they provided documentation for any waiver for the vaccine that was outside of the realm of "a demonstrated allergic reaction to ingredients in the vaccine."

Several studies have shown, for specific segments of the population, the risks outweigh the benefits. For those who have epilepsy, 4% who received a vaccine experienced more frequent or more severe seizure activity. If you were in that population would you think you should be granted a medical exemption?

    Legitimate question.

I don't know why Fauci isnt fired yet to be honest.

The message from the beginning of the pandemic should have been consistent. "Americans should be prepared to live with social distancing for a few years but we will do everything possible to end the pandemic as soon as possible." Instead we got remarks like "2 weeks to flatten the curve" and "we will be back to normal life in the fall." Fauci is terrible because he doesn't understand the #1 rule of BO.net. Never pass up an opportunity to stfu. And everytime he says something, nature has its way and makes him look like an ass.

They can't - The far left take his word as gospel and only the far left continue to feel that Biden is doing a satisfactory job. If this administration fired him they would lose their most ardent supporters while gaining very little from the rest of the population who feel that this administration is failing.

Who would have bought into that slogan? I know a fair amount of people and only one has been hospitalized from covid - I wouldn't be willing to "social distance for a few years" from what I've seen. With that said, I know that some here have experienced loss and for that I do sympathize. But I would not and will not give up years of my life to provide a larger margin of safety for those who have already chosen to condemn themselves by way of their years of poor decision-making as it relates to diet and healthy lifestyles.

They made their bed, they can sleep in it. Don't expect others to subsidize your poor past decisions.
