I'm sorry...can you point to the phrase you believe says "I think thenfull force of the federal government should come down on people who don't get vaccinated?"

You guys enjoy beating on that strawman. Youve gotten plenty of practice over the last 2 years.

Pretty sure somewhere over the course of this discussion you said you would punish any military member who didn't get the vaccine with the full authority given by the UCMJ if you were a commander. That's about as close as one can get to what you said.

Vivek loses me when he supports Snowden being pardoned. Who, for the record, is a Russian counter-intelligence professional. A spy who did more damage to our national security than anyone else I can name, except for maybe the Rosenbergs. He has fell, hook, line, and sinker, for a Russian op. Having him as President would be good in some dimensions, and catastrophic in others. Maybe he'll wake up, time will tell. I think his heart is in the right place overall, but he is woefully misled in certain areas.

You'll never find someone who agrees on every issue. And Brabus did a nice job of summing up how many have felt, and now feel about Snowden.

Lol.  Only dangerous acronyms I plan on crossing the rest of my life are FUPAs lol.  Or if my wife doesn't notice me gone, i'll space A to SEA (south east asia not seahawks) for a few weeks a year and not have to worry about those (FUPAs) either.   Lol

  4. A guy on YouTube posted a poll of whether or not you'd prefer NCAA FB to be the way it will be in 2027, or 2007. A full 75% of around 15,000 voters chose the latter.

I don't like where it is going, but the schools have to do what they can if they want to remain relative. I say this as a Florida State graduate and fan whose school is looking to get private equity to buy out their contract with the ACC.

I think this realignment will simply make the Big 2 a version of what the NFL is. And I don't really care for that. Will I keep watching? Absolutely, but in the last 10 years six teams won a NC, from 2000-2010 it was eight. That might not sound like a big difference, but it is.

    Also, >>>--GO-NOLES-;;->

We've recently made a run in the recruiting race and are now number three if I recall correctly.

If I were called back, my paycut alone would pretty much equal my O-5 pay (assuming I get flight pay)....so a 45% - 50% paycut for me.  Which coincidentally would be my percentage of motivation to work a staff gig in EUCOM 🤣

It does have this capability now (timeline is laughable, I get it). But also we shouldn’t have wasted a second or cent on integrating this weapon on 5th gen, but here we are…

    BREAK….

To address CAS culture - someone needs to carry it for when OEF 69 pops up and Danger gets arrested for streaking in the Pentagon. But, it’s ignorant to think CAS is impossible or “over” just because there’s not a huge focus on it. A great example is F-16 block 50s not flying a single CAS training sortie until a multi-month, pre-deployment spin up. Guys can’t spell CAS at the beginning. Fast forward and the squadron comes home with thousands of weapons employed, tons of lives saved, no frats, CC intent met x 6900, etc. Am I comparing to the A-10 or AC-130, no, but can guys spin back up and do great work for the bros on the ground and the CCs in the JOC, yes. Don’t put the pussy on a pedestal.

Dude, I agree. CAS in a permissive environment is pretty easy - If you follow the 12 steps you will be successful and should be generally within a couple seconds of your TOT in the F-35. I routinely see FRS/FTU students inside of 5" by their second event and it's unheard of to get a release without a cleared hot with the only exception I've seen of having a GBU-32 simo with -2 calling in zone with no clearance.

Far from air to air where it takes a lot of experience to remain effective.

I hope it meets the USMC needs for the sacrifice in capabilities the F-35 program made to get that variant.

I stand by my assertion— I don’t want to be anywhere near a MCO CAS environment in the F-35. I’ll happily stand-off and enable the jets that have the weaponry and survivability to get up close.

Manpads and AAA while I’m heads down in my 2005 era TFLIR lasing a Vietnam era gbu-12 from my $100m single engine stealth designed to to stand-off aircraft?!! No thanks.

    We can do better.

Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

We certainly can do better, and I agree that the limitations that resulted so that the Marine Corps could have a STOVL 5th gen fighter were not worth it. But I will stand by my assertion that it is any bit as capable as an F-18 in the CAS role. Sure, I'd prefer to have GBU-54 capability, but the GBU-12 isn't ineffective.

Now the F-35 CAS capability is different and in my opinion - horrid. As a airframe it currently lacks CAS friendly weapons, and it lacks many of the features you’d want in a CAS platform. But all that doesn’t matter because the community doesn’t care about CAS.

That might be accurate for the AF F-35 community but I don't think it would extend to the USMC F-35 community.

I would agree that there are certainly better platforms for CAS but the F-35 functions as well as an F-18 in that role.

RFK Jr for one. Tulsi Gabbard. Joe Manchin. Mark Kelly.

Yeah, he cares about it so much he convinced Republicans to not vote in Georgia, costing them the Senate. He decided not to fund any candidates running in 2022, almost unheard of for an ex president, because he wanted to save everything for his campaign. So much for the red wave. He's decided that siding with Disney over Desantis was in our best interests, definitely not his political interests. He cares about one thing only: himself. He's publicly shit on people who made fools of themselves defending him such as Lindsey Graham, Bill Barr, and Kayleigh McEnany. And all that is just the new stuff since his first run.

    Ew, no, I covered that.

Who the fuck are you talking about? Did you read the post at all?

You have my apologies - Several rounds of bourbon on the rocks last night.

If you look I've posted positively about RFKJ and I'm a fan of Gabbard and Manchin. I was more speaking to those who have already assumed the role of President in the past.

Trump is a fucking asshole, doesn't give two shits about this country, and has violated every moral clause that most of us consider important.

Who in the democratic party doesn't fulfill all of those criticisms? And I think Trump is one of the few do care about this country. His actions speak louder than most all who have come before him.

Are you going to vote for Newsom?

The fact that you knowingly voted for someone who couldn't put together thoughts, even at the time he was running for president, says a significant amount.

I'm a pretty conservative guy, but just listened to this Joe Rogan episode with Robert Kennedy Jr and was blown away. It's mostly about vaccines, so now I need to read The Real Anthony Fauci. It's a fantastic conversation. Here's the link: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3DQfcTY4viyXsIXQ89NXvg?si=rX2hS2ONSFO8o0jLJVv9vg

Just started the interview during my workout this morning but the book is well worth the read. I hope this interview gets RFKJ out there because the normal media is certainly not covering him.

The truth is slowly coming out and it appears the Chinese no longer give  a F@ck if they are blamed.

Covid: Top Chinese scientist says don’t rule out lab leak

Michael Shellenberger is now reporting with 100% certainty that COVID patient zero was a scientist at the Wuhan Lab. HE has also written articles about Facebook censorship, especially during the Pandemic.  He is a former Democrat who ran as an independent for Governor of California, he wrote the book San Fransicko: Why Progressives run Cities, and is an Op Ed contributor to the National Post.

Now that many are acknowledging what most assumed to be true all along, what do we do?  Do we give China a pass?  How do we hold them accountable?  What about Fauci?

Fauci should be prosecuted and imprisoned.

Shellenberger's book is a solid read.

I don't know about China - Their actions, and our contributions (likely) led to a miserable two years and an unknown numbers of lives lost.

I understand your general point, and I’ve been seeing a lack of airmanship for years. But what exactly do you mean by “push students…to make them sweat?” Flying form is a non-issue for the tons of F-35 FNGs I’ve flown with, no need for them to do more “close work.” If your answer to “the link goes out” is visual form when doing anything more than CAS, you have a gap in knowledge/understanding of some things.

I grew up in the “last world” of no link/helmet, green screens, pie-in-the-sky/geo ref to stay in the airspace (in the CAF mind you), stay visual at all costs even to detriment of mission accomplishment, and even did 10 timers with live CBU. I get it, but none of that is where we are today - all the old-minded guys (age agnostic) need to move on or get out. I think the new guys are “sweated” a ton more than we were at their age, just in different ways. I do however maintain general airmanship/SA when the toys go away is worse nowadays.

I'm fully aware that visual formations are not survivable given the threats we face today. I mean to add stress in ways that you can to force our pilots to cope adequately because that stress will be added in some form or another when they see real combat.

100% agree. At UPT/FTU students should definitely be pushed, instead of the current trend of pushing training along to the CAF to speed up UPT/FTU throughout. When it comes to PIT UIPs flying at RND though, sometimes I wonder if it’s not better to take a minimal loss in training by flying a little higher to avoid the pterodactyls.

My point was only that you can mitigate risk to a certain degree. If BASH is high, don't fly. If it's low, 200'.

It’s kind of like flying a LL out of RND. How many times do we need to take a bird in one of the worst Turkey Vulture areas in the US at 500 ft and 400 KCAS before we decide the LL can be effectively taught at 1000 AGL. Or how long will RND continue to call Birds low when every other USAF base in the world would be calling birds MOD if not bird Severe. The AF does a lot of stupid shit, especially in AETC. I don’t see anyone campaigning at 19th AF to make meaningful changes. Checks in the mail on DET 24…

Why not do low levels at 5k'?

I'm not an old dude and I see the degradation in the ability of students to adapt because we have coddled them due to changing situations based on tactics which don't necessitate visual formation keeping which doesn't them better aviators.

They're more lethal, but that is due to the platform and level of SA provided by a platform that shows you everything in a beautiful picture which requires nothing more than the press of a button and a pickle depression.

For better or worse, in Fat(test) Amy they only ever have to fly form for two FTU/FRS/RAG events and then only for the break.

What happens when link(s) goes out?

I think you should push students at the FTU/FRS/RAG and once they get to the CAF/fleet because the more you sweat... The less you bleed. We haven't had to bleed in 50 years, time will tell.
