  1. If in training why would you really care? I'm not familiar with adsb's exact capabilities but can't they already get your rough position with 3/c? If stranger traffic were also on adsb it would in theory make it a lot easier to set a 5 km bubble around them and not have to knock off the entire war. I heard rumors that the F-35 had ads-b.
  2. Wonder how much his background as an Intel officer had to do with this.
  3. I'd assume you'd simply turn it off just like mode 3/C when you fence-in... I'd think cost would be the real limfac
  4. I used to scoff tcas since we have a radar and an interrogator and it's next to useless when you're maneuvering. However this does make me wonder if it would be worth the cost to add. Not sure how complicated it is but heck we got them on 38s now.
  5. In retrospect it appears that a climb would have been more appropriate to avoid that traffic.
  6. Have you tried looking at the instrument approach procedures into CHS before coming up with this stuff? https://skyvector.com/files/tpp/1507/pdf/00076IL15.PDF
  7. You just lose it faster. Higher vvi. 750-900 ft/min on average for fighter type airspeeds
  8. Or if he's flying the full approach he's actually arcing at 24 dme @ 3000ft. Sucks for gas but not uncommon for an instrument ride.
  9. Gamecock c goes from 100 agl to 10k. But probably not a factor in this incident anyway.
  10. How would these stats, specifically fighter numbers, be affected by the "early" takers from last year?
  11. I am specifically referring to Clark Griswald's post about "CAS." Staring at a building for 4 hours straight or scanning a road while reading a book doesn't exactly call for a $100-200M aircraft and calling it CAS dilutes the meaning of CAS to something that is so vague as to be meaningless. As for the aforementioned tasks there are specifically designed manned and unmanned aircraft that are much more cost efficient/effective at that role and can operate in that implied uncontested environment. So no, no need for 2-seat F-35s. Getting more off topic... as I recall ITCs have nothing to do with terminal control. Heck they typically had no idea what the GFC was doing in the first place. Have things changed?
  12. He's confusing CAS with manned ISR.
  13. 6 Months And no regarding the PTDY (some have gotten it in the past, but its not guaranteed - its for retirements or involuntary seps).
  14. No but of note the uncommitted-eligibles (those who did not take the bonus) can get the $15k/year if they decide to change their minds (5yrs or the 20 YAS option). In my case it's not enough to do so... I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that the take rate from last year did not meet A1s goals...
  15. Anyone happen to know what the final number was? Also, if I remember correctly last year there was no bonus offer for those who had passed on the initial bonus whereas in the past it was offered (albeit at a lesser amount). I was curious what the logic was behind that and if that will remain the same in the future. Thoughts?
  16. Herk driver - I saw similar posts to what you wrote.
  17. You mean they overshot their target? better get the rif paperwork started
  18. Since this thread is alive again... any word on what the take rates ended up being or are they still processing them?
