  1. Info for the thread: (During Phase I UPT) L5S1 HNP (bad) L5S1 Discectomy Sept 15th 2011 FC1 Waiver submitted Dec 15th 2011 FC1 Waiver APPROVED Feb 1 2011
  2. Mikkeller huh? I'm guessing $35.50 a bottle?
  3. Yup, good stuff right there. Gonna have to find the others listed.
  4. Man I love me some Ranger IPA. I gotta see if the C6 here has "Dig" and I'll let ya know how it compares. (I'm guessing not as hoppy since it's just a "Pale Ale")
  5. Love it or hate it, that's pretty damn impressive.
  6. Classes don't pass it because it's more than just knowing the correct numbers. It's taken under time constraints and/or distractions (sometimes) - and EVERY test by EVERY student has to look exactly the same....same capitalization of letters, same punctuation, EVERYTHING. You'd be surprised at the number of people who miss a comma in 1,000, forget to capitalize a letter, their "L" looks like a "C", or misspell brakes as breaks ( ) Students just aren't on the "same page" when they first take it with regards to how it's supposed to be formatted.
  7. This continues as a "Hot Jewish Chick" thread in 3......2......1.....
  8. Ahhh...another brew brought to us by the makers of Alaskan Amber. I'll add it to the list to try. I don't think I've ever had a better beer than the Alaskan Amber I cracked open in the shower after getting back from the camping trip at SERE - fvcking awesome.
  9. Finally picked up a sixer of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, I'm a big fan of their IPA and Double IPA - and the Celebration Ale fits right in. It's not as hoppy as their other IPAs, but the hops are there in the perfect amount with some nice "festive" malts holding everything down, I could drink a dozen of these. 10/10
  10. "Also Monday, more than 400 Communist supporters gathered to express their indignation over the election, which some called the dirtiest in modern Russian history" Right on! We must support the.....commies?.....wait....what? I'm confused....
  11. SEC Fanboy here, and I definitely think LSU vs OSU is the way to go. The whole idea of a "re-match" doesn't seem fitting of the national championship.
  12. Everyone is tired of the whole "Muslim terrorist" cliche' anyways right? http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/dec/01/putin-prepares-russian-empire?INTCMP=SRCH
  13. Not a waiver related question, but didn't want to start a new thread: I had a discectomy a few months ago, and am waiting on a waiver to start flying again (UPT). While searching through various AFIs, regs, and various PDF documents I could find on the subject, I remember reading something about a USAF approved lumbar support for G-Suits, that can be added through AFE. Does anyone have any information on this? I can't for the life of me remember what reg it was in, but I know I read it, and I'd like to talk to the AFE shop about getting this done - but I'd like to have a reg in hand before I do, in case they look at me with a blank stare when I go in there. Thanks!
  14. MEPs and Wright-Pat are a bit different, MEPs told me the same thing. You'll go do your FC1, and that's when they'll mark "DQ for LASIK, recommend waiver" or "not recommend". The guy there told me if they recommend it, there's about a 90% chance it'll go through. (They do all the paperwork, just have your op reports, etc.) Unless there's been a dramatic policy change in the past year? (I did brooks July10)
  15. Okay, thread revival time. I Just got DQ'd at the beginning of Phase II in UPT (Herniated Disc, had back surgery, outcome good.) and it looks like I'm going to need to put together an ETP package in order to continue training (Waiver available for FCII, but not FCI). My supervisor back at my guard unit has some people looking into what an ETP is and how it works, but I figured I'd get on the ball and start getting everything ready. Here's the issue. I've found information from both the USAFA (USAFAI36-2205) and AFROTC (AFROTCI36-2011) with great, detailed information on submitting a MEDICAL ETP to the CSAF. Additionally, I found some good information on submitting a regular AF ETP (Age Waiver) in AFI 36-2205. Is this info valid in my case? I have a hard time believing my commander would want to endorse something based on an USAFAI or an AFROTCI (That references CADETS), and the AFI 36-2205 (Attachment 2.3) is specifically focused on the Age Waiver. Am I missing an AFI? I find it hard to believe that Medical ETPs are not outlined in some general AFI somewhere. Even something as simple as "ETPs are a Line issue, and not medically related" to give to my units flight doc, who's burning the midnight oil trying to find out waiver info. I feel like I have a good handle on what's required (based on the USAFA and AFROTC info), and who it goes to (Based on the AFI) - but I don't know how to present it to my guard unit in a way that makes sense. Thanks Baseops!
  16. Have been pouring over the regs while my back heals from a (so far) successful microdiscectomy. I'm feeling great, up and walking around, and hope to make a 100% recovery. The regs seem to be sending some mixed signals when it comes to getting back to flying after a herniated disc (HNP). Here's a few of my questions if anyone wants to take a stab at it: 1. After reading through the text of the "Herniated Nucleus Pulposus (HNP) and Spinal Fusion (Nov 08)" it seems like they generally like to approve people who are asymptomatic and get them back to flying. The caveat being that there is no waiver for FCI/IA. What is the real difference between FCI/IA and FCII? There is wording in the waiver guide that flying ejection seat aircraft, even with a MULTILEVEL fusion in the lumbar, is still possible (With a FCII). I didn't even have a fusion.... 2. AFI48-123 states "6.1.1.1. Flying Class I qualifies for selection into MFS, and once MFS is passed, commencement of undergraduate pilot training (UPT)." ....okay....I've "Commenced" UPT.....is there any text that says one way or another that a student can't finish UPT with a FCII? I understand specifically says it qualifies already RATED officers for flying duty, but it seems odd. If this had happened on AD, would he/she get the chance to goto RPAs? (Which would require a FCIIU) 3. Has anyone heard of an option where I could keep my FCI, only with a non-ejection seat restriction, and then be able to go to UPT at Whiting Field? Obviously, these are going to be questions I also ask the flight docs here at Shep, but I'd like to get as much information as I can before I see them this Thursday to be ready for what ever they tell me. Thanks.
  17. My advice - buy a laptop, and bring a Verizon Air Card....jus saying. Bring a printer also (small) You need 2 of the blend pants, and 1 of the poly only, or three of the blend I guess, you need 3 total. Bring the US insignia, and make sure its the most current one (cant remember which for officers...) Bring both a black knit cap and one of the green military fleece caps if you can, and bring your black leather cold weather gloves, you don't want to be the guy who doesn't have his stuff, and make the rest of your flight suffer. (standardization...everyone must be uniform!) As for where to buy it, buy a black watch cap at like walmart (knit), and for gloves, you need to order them or stop into the base BX before you in process
  18. Thanks for the clarification GD - and yes I meant FC1
  19. Thread revival: Currently a Phase II student here at Sheppard, just found out I have a 10mm L5S1 herniation that is going to require a microdiscectomy. From reading the waiver guide, I see that a FC1A waiver is not possible, so I'm starting to explore my options once I'm post surgery and (hopefully) 100%. The way I see it, I have two options. 1. ETP; does anyone know anything about building an ETP? What factors influence the outcome? Who is the deciding factor in this situation? (I'm a guard guy)? I've been through AMS/SERE/Water/IFS, and I'm PCS'd in place here at Shep, it seems like there's an awfully lot of money already invested, is that grounds for at least consideration? 2. Maybe some route leading through Whiting Field? I believe they're still flying T-34s and according to a Marine friend of mine, they have AF UPT studs come through there all the time. Not really sure how that would work in my current situation being in the Guard, might have to ask that in the G/R forum. Any insight, thoughts, considerations, etc - are appreciated.
  20. The word floating around here is that white v-necks are authorized undershirts for bags. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Not really sure I'd be willing to wear one, but I'm sure if you wanted to piss off leadership it'd be one way.
  21. At some point your FC will start doing Shotgun questions, which are usually from the "other stuff" in the ops limits. It's a good idea to know them, but you'd be better off getting the ops limits in RED and the BOLDFACE down COLD for day one, and pick up the rest as you go.
