I'm assuming it stops so much for fuel, but a 747 with some (Ok a lot) extra drag can't make it from SKF to FL? (Unless the extra weight greatly restricts the fuel load) Maybe a dumb question...maybe someone has some insight
  4. During a room inspection, way at the back of the vanity under the sink there was a dead moth. 341s for my roomate and me for "Unauthorized contraband" (little redundant don't you think) "Cadet!...what's 682 divided by 2?" "Uh...341?" "Yep, one for each of you."
  5. YGBSM...I noticed some of the more colorful acronyms aren't in the glossary. just saying

  7. So...are you refering to RVSM in the T-1 or GPS approaches in the C-17?
  8. Since you brought up DLF, let me tell you about the second to last time I went there on something other than a drop night. (You will see why it was my second to last time shortly) We, my class early in T-6s, decided we would go to the club every Friday directly from work, wearing our bags as it should be. One night, we walked in and there we a ton of old timers there. Turns out it was the class reunion for class 68D (1968). We strike up conversation, shared beers and told stories. At about 7 o'clock they inform us they have to move on and "donate" the rest of their (purchased) keg to us and wish us a good night. By this point we make up about 90% of the bar and are gladly drinking from our free keg rather than blowing money at the bar. Before long some bus boy comes up, disassembles our keg and informs us that if we want to keep drinking we have to buy from the bar. We call bullshit, argue with the manager (and lose) so we leave vowing never to return outside of functions. Track select comes around and we have a feedback session with the OG. He is floored at our O'Club story and within an hour our SRO has an email from the club manager "Offering" to buy us a keg to remedy the situation. We gladly accept the offer but never returned on a friday as a class since. They treat their patrons like shit and wonder why they don't make any money.
  9. For hauling people and their shit I highly recommend my Lt mobile Of course this is the only way I can afford to fill it up... *Edited to include the fact that my lifetime warranty is now going to be owned by Fiat...imagine that customer service call...
  10. The Lt mobile my wife wouldn't let me get... "I can get 80 MPG on this hog..."
  11. "Don't even bother putting it down on the sheet cause it won't be approved" What was said to us when we asked about civil flying during inprocessing. Maybe base specific but our OG was pretty clear. Beside save your money, get some beer, buy a grill and have a cookout. It will be 10 times more rewarding at the end of the week in UPT than flying that cessna.
  12. This is HUGE. These guys are spot on and can't emphasize it enough. He is basically evaluating you on 1. Safety, and 2. knowing the rules and not getting violated. Easy enough around your home field were you know what to watch out for. He knows that is where you will be doing most of your flying and may not know everything else. But show him if you do face something you are unsure about you know how to find and not break #1 and 2 above. Good luck
  13. Good PPL gouge is your POH, FAR/AIM, and PTS. That's all you need to know
  14. Anyone use the new PIPS program for filing your PCS vouchers? If so anything to say about it?
  15. Yes obviously salute back. Sorry if I came across as the "refuses to return the salute of a civilian that is protecting my home/work" guy. You asked the exact thing I was eluding to. Maybe this is not new but since I just PCS'd from a "non-saluting civilain" base I thought I would ask the question.
  16. Right...but they do it anyway. Wondering how others are handling this.
  17. REVIVAL!! Had my first experience with a saluting civ gate guard today. I started to pop a return salute and realized half way that this was kinda strange. It ended being a half assed mess. So I guess my question is what is the proper response to these awkward salutes. I'n not one to leave a guy hanging but it just seems so bas-akwards to me.

*Directed toward anyone* Agree...if you think you will hear something about it then fill out a NASA form (After you fill out a HATR). If the controller gives you a number to call be sure to ask him if it was him whose life was on the line. If that doesn't clear it up, then see above and get your boss on your side.
  19. Newsflash...Lesbo's! And not the kind you want to help you check that off life's To-do list.
  20. So did you send them the artwork or did they already have that? Also, I'm assuming you called in your order since their website doesn't really show them.
  21. The caves are along the river north of Del Rio. Not sure where but the park service website should have some info. A good place to hike is Big Bend National Park and the nearby town of Alpine. Google it...there is tons to do there. More of a weekend trip though...about 6 hours or so. There are also some trails up north along the devils river. Other than that...you said everything else to do. It's Del Rio.
  22. Just curious but why do you ask? Are you T-6 bound? If so you might get some better directed info.
