  1. Best gas grill hands down is the Weber Genesis. Wife bought one for me after the last deployment. Initially I was pretty upset with the $700 until I cooked my first steak. Best grill ever!
  2. The Mountain Combat Stryker Mens T-shirt
  3. This includes blues too...which as mentioned earlier seems against regs. The base USAFA Ops AF POC even called me today to see if the Sq had extra belts to hand out to the cadets. These cadets, some of whom are over 21, are forbidden from drinking at all while here. Even heard rumors of G.O. #1 being on the table for the whole base.
  4. At a remote C-17 stage location in SWA...one of my crew members was chastised for not turning off the water between swipes of the razor. The reason was "You are wasting water and WE just put in a $6 million dollar pond to support water usage"...UFB
  5. Military Spouse Relief Act
  6. I wore BDUs in the winter with my issued gore-tex jacket (Casual at Grand Forks). Don't think too many units are issuing them anymore. I bought the matching pants online for 30 bucks. Pick a used BDU set online for cheap. When I was there they didn't give two shits about things like "uniform combinations"
  7. I guess reflective belts can be useful... So I'm TDY and my wife couldn't wait a week for me to get back to put up a Christmas tree. So when she called me in hysterics after the tree fell over for the second time, I told her she had to come up with some way to prop it up until I get home. Here is what she came up with... Note: There will be no pictures of the wife
  8. Decided to RTFM and figured it out. Actually pretty painless. Just did what stract did below.
  9. Has anyone done this recently (AMC type)? Tried Honcho's info and it didn't work. Buying a new computer next month and this will save me $300.
  10. So I've read all the memos posted about non-a's...and I think I know the answer but the scare tactics are getting the best of me. I'm at Altus and just received a memo on my door that the heat is out in my building and they are issuing non-a slips downtown. I asked about them and they said as of right now they are only good for 2 hotels (Best Western and Microtel). They further said that if those rooms fill up the will then, and only then issue "Unrestricted" non-a's that will be good anywhere in town. Based on what I've read there is no such thing as a "restricted" non-a and I could take their Best Western non-a anywhere I want and not be charged anything below the local Altus maximum lodging rate. Can I get a sanity check on this? Edit to add: I've been on base for 2 weeks and will probably be here another 3 weeks
  11. Just a stab in the dark...Prior Qualified Pilot Either that or Prospective Queer Parents
  12. Charlie's at Altus is all but closed. FSS took all the TV's out and moved them to the "All ranks" Club Altus for football season. They won't even let her open on Sunday or Monday. It looks to me that the only reason it's open is for the steak grill.
  13. Sorry maybe I was too subtle. I was implying that I am familiar with the demo and that your statement is incorrect. At no time during the profile is there a reason to intentionally get in the stick shaker and keep it there. The stick shaker indicates impending stall. One could argue that would mean max performance but isn't mentioned anywhere in T.O.s, or in AFI 11-246v6 with regards to its use in airshows. The stick shaker is generated by Aircraft/Propulsion Data Management Computer. The A/PDMC receives no less than 11 different inputs before determining the need for a warning.
  14. I stayed at Enterprise Square. Not the nicest but it was cheap and they'll work with you on about anything.
  15. Gold, a few goats, your first born or even sexual favors if you're in to that. Me...I used Visa. But seriously...if you choose to live off base with no Non-A, you will only be reimbursed the on base rate. You can use your travel card but I used my personal card that way I avoided the dreaded accrual voucher. At the time USAA was offering 4% interest on your card if you are PCSing. My furnished apartment including utilities and cable was less than the on base rate. Plus you bank your BAH from your previous assignment if you go TDY enroute.
  16. re·sem·ble   [ri-zem-buhl] Show IPA –verb (used with object), -bled, -bling. 1. to be like or similar to. 2. Archaic . to liken or compare. Therefore I suggest you inform your PAS that your task is impossible unless he authorizes and uses Det funds to procure an actual bar, popcorn machine, and of course a kegerator to name a few. Throw in some of the above artwork and you are well on your way. Of course he will decline at which you say "Well Sir, this is an organization that trains young folks in the profession of arms. A profession that does not benefit from short cuts or satisfying with 'second best' or 'good enough.'Therefore I regret to inform you that I will be unable to fulfill my obligation in an effort to uphold the proud traditions of not only the Air Force, but those of all the men and women who proudly served before me." Something along those lines but you get the idea. I'm afraid you have been dealt a losing hand. Got to give the guy props for trying though. My PAS was too concerned with preaching the 4 pillars of a balanced life and cross country skiing to work in the middle of the North Dakota winter. Good Luck!
  17. Not quite 2 years ago... We bought our 2 kegs, the min food, and as soon as our last stud got their assignment, filed in to cars and headed to the Del Rio (I said it) Country Club for the cheaper beer and folks that actually wanted our business. Best thing we could have done. Our class, friends, family and IPs hanging out with no riff raff and no drama from leadership. Thought the trend would take but I guess not. I hated that club and the new manager than ran it.
  18. Shame on me but a golden opportunity missed one night downrange when a Fokker landed, did a 180 and back taxied to park. We were cleared to back taxi after him and report the Fokker in sight. I kick myself every time and am reminded about it whenever I go there. Self critiquing fail.
  19. Been doing alot of talking on the matter and here is what I have been hearing: DTS Pros - We use it all the time and are familiar with its quirks. - Minimal processing time - Build blanket authorization for everyone, tweak individually as needed DTS Cons (Possibly) - Individual tweaking (For AMC crews that transition the AOR and are thus entitled additional perdiem, that is a lot of time consuming adjustments for say a 120 day rotation) - Additional burden on approving officials - DTS (un)reliability - HFP/CZTE, AF1881s for everybody? What about HDP? - Accrual vouchers, some deployed locations have lodging costs, can DTS handle accruals? I noticed eFinance has an accrual function. Maybe this would be a generally better solution. Honestly I don't know enough about it to talk educatedly. Maybe a separate discussion/poll would be a good idea. Thanks in advance for the insight
  20. Slight Hijack... FG, I was talking to a local finance guy about eFinance and he said this program may used for extended TDY and/or deployment vouchers in the near future. He also said DTS was a possibility. Any truth to this? DTS might work well for the average ground guy who stays put but might be overly complicated for folks who tend to move around alot. Just wondering your thoughts.
  21. Any one with some recent gouge? Never been and wondering how it stacks up with the "Gem of the AOR" down the road. Thanks
  22. Nice...I had a brain fart on where the 14th was. Have fun. Say hi to your Mom for me. (I only say that cause I saw my Mom on XC (COS), purely by chance since we never new where we were going til a few hours before T/O.
  23. We do! Travis C-17s on their way Wish I wasn't on leave this week! Would love to help out.
  24. Ahahahahahaha...as a guy that spent 5+ years in GF and has family in Fargo...somehow I'm not surprised. Thanks that made my night!
