Along those lines...class 08-14 @ XL had 9 AD C-17s in their drop (Rumor...The Flt/CC had to trade away one just to give the bottom person something else so they didn't get their top choice). I think 08-15 had 7 or so. 09-01 had 4 AD -17s. 09-02 had 2. Not to discourage anyone, but they aren't handing them out like they used to. If you decide not to go to CRP in hopes of a C-17...just realize they aren't handing out 8-9 at a time anymore.

Ok, went to tons of websites and searched threads/JFTRs but can't seem to find the answer. PCSing from Laughlin to Travis, TDY enroute to Altus. Local finance told me that I would continue to get BAH from my losing base. Is this 100% true? 1. Does it matter if I live in TLF (Married with 2 large dogs) or only if I live off-base? 2. If I do get a pet-friendly TLF, will my per diem be adjusted to cover the whole cost (TLF/pet fees), + BAH? 3. Have also heard if I do a TLF and get BAH, will the BAH stop after 30 days? 4. If I choose to live off base, should I get per diem ($27/day) and then supplement with my BAH? 5. If I get a letter of non-a (Dogs being the reason), is my per diem adjusted to cover my housing expenses + BAH? Everyone I have talked to says enroute is the best money maker but unsure since we won't be getting my wife's income from Del Rio. Just looking for the easiest/most lucrative option (Realizing those two rarely go together). Thanks in advance

Your best bet is to tell everyone you can in your T-1 Squadron (By everyone I mean Flt/CC and IPs). Before you fill out your dream sheet you will be given a "Special Considerations" sheet to fill out that goes to your Flt/CC and eventually AFPC. For most people it consists planned vacation after UPT/marriages/family reunions that you want AFPC to know about when scheduling your follow-on training. It is also a medium to make special requests. One guy in my T-1 class put down a request for U-28s. Since that assignment is pretty much open to all who "Request" it (With Flt/CC help) that's what he got. I would recommend doing the same for C-130s. If you want something specific say it...but also be open to flying slicks first. Also, can't speak for Js, but if you want AFSOC 130s...you better be open to Cannon. Pretty sure people in that community aren't begging to leave Hurlburt to go to Cannon, so they might take you there. Edit: We just had a FAIP go MCs...another option. But we also had a FAIP put 130s first and end up in a 17.

Tech, Where are most people settling down off-base? Is Fairfield a good option...I've heard it's kind of, well, gangster (Have you seen the youtube video?). I've heard Vacaville is better but I'm sure has its slums like anywhere. Also is anyone buying or just renting?

Another revival?? Also just assigned to Travis. Any info on the 21 AS? Also I was wondering if anyone had more recent insight with on-base housing situation? Anyone know the possibility of civilian nurses working at the base hospital? (Wife) Thanks in advance.
