  1. I've been searching, but I'm guessing I'm just not using the right terms... my google-foo must be weak today. Anyways, I'm just commissioned via ROTC, and I'm about to PCS to my first PDS. I'm doing a full DITY (probably not even going to bring more than 1K lbs of stuff). I requested the advanced operating allowance of 60%. Unfortunately, I can't figure out where to get said advance. The counselor from the TMO office isn't sure if I work through my gaining unit or through his base (Patrick AFB), or if I work through my detachment (I assume the least likely option). Anybody have any words of wisdom here? I've sent an email over to the NCOIC from my det, but I haven't started bugging people at my gaining unit or at Patrick (don't really care to start off on the wrong foot). Thanks a ton!
  2. They gave me $2.00... but because of this board I've learned how important it is to keep that shit to myself in the real world. I'd say I gained 69000 times more from three years reading this board than four years of marching in a square in ROTC. I, for one, hope the bitching continues. It's a great way for us SNAPs to learn something. Ironic?

  6. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks
  7. Anybody see the mechanic yet?
  8. Great company. They take care of our ROTC order of nametags every spring, and they always give a super fast turn around time (<48 hours, 20ish nametags) and worked with us on getting them shipped direct to the det even though I paid with my card. No jacked up tags in our order. If they have a question about something, they take the time to call and confirm. Super thread hijack... I'm heading there in the summer, how are things in the dorms there? Chances of getting a duplex?
  9. What an amazing read. Sometimes being on this site too much makes my head spin with "Did I make the right decision" questions, but this speech hits home and I remember why I'm here. (158 days)
  10. I gotta think the airline wouldn't let any passengers that were actively bleeding from their faces onto the airplane. Maybe a couple of first class passengers needed some bloody noses.
  11. Just throwing this out there... yesterday at work my coworker had to call our campus at Mt Home... The guy from the campus mentioned that there is a rainbow sticker on the case of the computer... I thought of this thread and nearly shot coffee out my nose. Is there something in the water up there?
  12. translation to rotc-tool brevity terminology: No Slugs = Howdy = Doorknob
  13. Where are the standards here? If you drop a bomb on the wrong place and kill a ton of civilians, you can't go back 4 years later and un-explode it.
  14. allow myself to quote myself.... I just listened to that. Sucks that he held out on the go-around. I can see where that would be a tough place to try and go around. But even a worse place to crash.
  15. Noooo.... misser superman no es here.
  16. I watched the whole thing in suspense.... what a tease.
  17. The main point I was trying to make here is that they're teaching that it's not about the mission, it's about whether or not you made everybody feel included in the process. It was one of those times where I got a deep gut feeling like an injustice was being done. Should I have talked back... nope. Do I still feel like they're teaching fresh officers that making their peers feel good about themselves is more important than hacking the mission... yes.
  18. I got chewed for questioning the system at FT when I brought up how screwed up it was that mission completion on the LRCs was only like 1 point out of 100. I realize that pales in comparison with the Ops/Mx vs Finance/Etc situation, but notice how they're being taught at a young age to not care about the mission, but only care about how you make your teammates feel.
  19. This goes a lot farther than the title of the thread.
