Hawaii, You can have cell phones, but you wont be able to use them until week 5 or later. I was in the oct 5 class and we didnt get phones till damn near then end. so take it, but dont plan on using it. The phone will have to stay in your security drawer. As for the phone policy, you will get some phone priveleges in phase 2. You ARE allowed a 10 minute phone call on sunday week one. Also, you can work with the chaplain............... Just keep in mind when your down there that its just a mind game. Do what your told and shut up. Try to organize and prioritize by what is really important (test, briefing, memo) then go from there. They are going to try and load you up with useless garbage that they themselves (the staff)dont even read. Just keep in mind the first day/week/2 weeks, that things will get better and believe it or not, you will have some fun and have some good memories to take home. Good luck, Summe32c

I was a young dude in HS at the time. I was working office duty running around delivering notes to students (sweet way to get credit and do absoutly nothing. I learned early) I remember there were TV's everywhere showing news for Weather, and I remember the "BREAKING NEWS." Everyone watched as if nothing else was going on in the world, no school, no work, just the news. I can not even describe how I felt as the coverage showed the fist tower bellowing out smoke, and watching the second plane smash into the second tower live. I felt deep down, before it was ever said, we were getting attacked. I agree with some others posts; just like our grandfathers and relatives before, this is a day no one will forget. Funny thing was, I had just recieved my "DRAFT" card in the mail one day prior. to all who have served overseas, and at home. M2, you're right, hard to believe 8 years ago today. CHEERS TO ALL!

deal with the speeding ticket and dont worry about the other violation, but if you're worried, KILLACAM has some good advice. Just get a copy of your driving record so you know whats on there. If the DA "threw out" your other violation, its not in your file. I wouldnt worry though... -summers

try applying a hot towell...Ive had a stye before..can be pretty painful..keep er clean and it should go away.. just my $.02...Im no doctor, but if its a stye, that helped me. cheers summers

Actually, the CTOL was the only variant fitted with a gun. its a 25mm offspring of the gau-8; gau-12. the marines and navy chose to have the option of mounting a gun pod if they need it..
