Non Continuation for passed over Majs
AF/A1 Lt Gen Jones painted quite a bright future today at SOS. His brief indicated that the only major hurdle would be a Force Shaping Board in 2013, other than that all other programs brought our end strength down. Who knows what Congress will do though, and the likelihood is that we will all be facing more and more cuts in the future...

Masters information (MBA/GRE)
Or maybe for once and all the Air Force will pull their heads out of their asses and draw a line like the Navy does. Line vs Restricted line. Computer geeks need Masters Degrees, so do engineers, meterologists yup. Pilots/Operators etc do not. Quit comparing the folks that need degrees for mission success to those that don't. And if there is a pilot/operator out there that goes ahead and gets a meaningless masters we shank him/her.

Drone Pilots: We Don’t Get No Respect
And yet AFPC still thinks and publicly states that rated manning is good. They cannot see the mass exodus, even when the screw up the VSP process last year they fail to see the looming problem---who knew that the 10 year commitment would work so good that it would blind the leadership.

Nice well the cleaning ladies can prevent us from reading the bible but they can't clean up the roach I smashed in my room

Transfering airframes
I have rx informal feedback from bros I have encouraged to come on down, the response was less than lukewarm. I'm not saying it can't happen but with manning levels finally reaching acceptable it is imaginable. OTOH CSO manning is atrocious so it is favorable for back seaters to get on board...but once we are healthy it probably will follow suit with the pilot side as well.

Transfering airframes
IMHO, the writing is on the wall as far as AFSOC goes. They have effectively shut the door to U-28s to anyone outside of AFSOC, UPT only or from another AFSOC airframe. I'm not sure if the same construct applies to the 130 world in AFSOC but there definitely seems to be a shift from embracing other communities to raising our own. 6th SOS is the only exception I can think of. There are more than a few examples of the few who have made the switch only to find out that they better be faster, better and stronger than the guy who has been here his whole career. I'm not trying to dissuade just saying that if career is important to you then the faster you get to AFSOC the better.

NHL Playoffs
Wow if I didn't already respect Rainman for his sage advice he has given all the years I have been on this board I would respect him as a hockey fan. Scott Stevens was a rare breed... Kariya was never the same after meeting with that check from Stevens...Applied to modern warfare... true talent is no match for a well timed violent act. Fing a bro...

SOS/ACSC information
He was engaging and decent. Better him talking then the person telling us take our seats, and to slience all portable electornic devices. My major gripe was that he lifted the part about the airline announcements directly from George Carlin (RIP). Saw him along with several other people getting out of town for the weekend for easter at the airport. One of my fellow classmates called him out and asked him to do the safety briefing himself. The group of five or so of us laughed at him.

SOS/ACSC information
Holy crap, yesterday Air Force AFPC briefing, AFPC admitted to royally dicking up the VSP / RIF process. They underestimated how many pilots were going to apply, senior leaders best guess was nowhere near the actual. We all knew this was the case but to admit it... haven't heard it before.

SOS/ACSC information
Wanted to reduce the 8 week course down to something smaller. It would involve a distance learning aspect but didn't feel comfortable doing it without having a mandated amount of time set aside for members to complete their DL at home station. Also wanted to eliminate the practice bleeding going on by having to do correspondence to go in res. Also want to increase the opportunities to get PHDs...we'll see where that one goes. Also somehow it still isn't getting through to people but you do have to show up here with a current Physical Fitness test through the end of the course. If you don't you will get kicked out. So far the experience hasn't been all that bad, I am sober on a Monday which does leave a little to wonder about but then again with it being 8 weeks you have to pace yourself. I have a pretty solid flight with a decent mix of aircrew and other career fields and Air Force wide the consensus is just about the same among all of us... those of us with families miss them but we are pretty excited about not having to be dealing with the day to day kick in the junk that are jobs are becoming more and more of with plenty of time to PT in the base gym without being forced to wear the AFPTU. I'm sure this feeling will wear off in time

Promotion and PRF Information
I could have got mine done before May of 2012. No one was screaming to get it, hence no one was really trying to get one, we all knew we had to have it to get promoted to Lt Col, we figured we had time and just maybe we would get the opportunity to get a real degree. Getting a Master's Degree early out of the gate has created a very easy discriminator for the PRF process. Message for the guys out there who are in the 2005 year group or later, 2004 its too late: if you think getting it done before your board is your goal you should really reevaluate that stance. Maybe we can get some Group/Wing Execs in here to confirm but the actual racking and stacking of everyone will occur much earlier. I will end up being done about 6 months before the board but I would really rec you being done 9 months before the board, just in case your paperwork or AFIT screws up your degree status you don't look like a POS without a Master's Degree to your Senior Rater. Call me careerist but I believe we have a duty to not only say a Masters is important to the Air Force but it is also important to your Senior Rater well in advance of the magical board date. Who knows what the next discriminator will be, PHD's? A second MA, maybe some sort of professional certfication, God forbid it actually boils down to being good at your job.

A new bomber. Anyone think the AF procurment people can get this right?
This already happens, or at least happened when I was at OTBH... I calculated that the lost hours I had between the WG/CC and the OG/CC from poaching flights...it directly attributed to being TAMIed... but that was many moons ago and very astute statement. Oh yeah and no... B-52 will probably be the last standing manned bomber.

Safety of Flight/Crew Rest
I'm just wondering... dexedrine did wonders for me pulling a 21 hour sortie from OTBH to KDYS in a B-1... why is AMC/AFSOC so anti go-pill?
