I didn't know what to think when I saw the previews, I was really worried it was going to be another Jarhead, what a piece of shit movie and Marine that guy was. I just finished the first episode and am impressed so far. Good on HBO for telling it like it is without political BS. I really liked how they gave the Rolling Stone guy shit until they found out he also wrote for Penthouse, classic!

That's a much different scenario and a good lesson for us young pups.

Are you serious dude? Not to hi-jack the thread but since when did leadership, warrior spirit, and teamwork take a back seat to marching as the way to excel at camp? You may be able to argue that making the transition to a military mindset which displays the aforementioned characteristics would be difficult in one year. Additionally, it sounds like the new camp is much more FTX, (in the field),-centric. Slik, want to kick ass at camp? Do this: 1. Get in shape. 2. Talk to the POC would did well as camp i.e. got DG, SP, warrior spirit ect. 3. Always, and I mean always, do what is best for your team. Good luck man.

2 to all the above. I helped my buddy train for Phase 2 (he ended up getting hypothermia on day 7 and had to leave) and knew that that shlt wasn't for me lol, esp. the underwater. Major kudos to those dudes, they'll get a beer everytime I'm in the bar. It's pretty awesome to know that there a whole group of dudes willing to risk their lives to pull your pretty pink body out of whatever trouble you get in to. I read a book called "That Other's May Live" which has some pretty awesome stories. One that sticks out: He was telling about doing freefall jumps into stadiums for ballgames ect. and when asked why is was so hard he said, "put a cheerio on the ground, now take 10 steps back, that's what the stadium looks like when you first jump."
