How soon can the Guard put you up for O-5 when you have been twice passed over on AD? I heard as long as you don’t have a break in service, and you have the TIG and appropriate PME, they can put you up immediately. True?

A lot of people believe getting awards and strats put you on the path to being an HPO. It’s actually the other way around. Being an HPO wins you awards and gets you the killer strats. Unfortunately, there is NOTHING you can do to become an HPO, it is gifted to you and once it is, it basically takes blatant sexual misconduct to pull you off the path.

Isn’t that society these days though? How many times have you seen a dude in the public eye with MUCH more to lose than a 1LT in the USAF and he can’t keep it in his pants.

The real reason it was took out was that the highest bust item on the C4 check was due to ELPs. So with a typical C4 bust... two 87 rides then the IPC. If everything went perfect, the stud ended up just being about 5 days behind. Or we can just not make ELPs be on the checkride=0 busts. So it has less to do with the time spent “teaching ELPs” and more to do with making T-6s a 6 month program directly to wings and the B course. Streamlined and as quick and “easy” as possible. It’s coming guys so just be ready for it. The AF said they were gonna grow out of the pilot shortage and they damn sure meant it.

As a prior Chief of PIT... you would be surprised. I’ll take the FAIP over the C-17 AC nine times out of ten.

I will say this, it’s tough for the FAIPs. They are closer to the students age then the “wife and 2 kids” MWS guy who is at a minimum 5 years older than him. You put them in towns where the talent is tough to find. Then along walks in this LT who starts to feel like you taught her to fly and you were the cool IP and now she wants to go XC with you. Then everyone is drinking and... it isn’t hard to see how two adults end up in this situation. Not saying I agree but it’s reality.

Just got an interview with SWA with: 2,800 total 1000 hrs in T-6 1500 hrs in KC-135 Not sure how close that is to “min time” but probably pretty low comparatively.

As I plan my next move, I came up with a question I am having a hard time getting an answer for. The guard unit I am considering joining is doing all deployments via Mob Letters, thus getting the Mob protection and whatnot. I will be a complete free agent with zero commitment to the unit. I plan on sticking around for a while, but I know eventually I am going to want to give up the job forever. Once you get put on a Mob Letter are you effectively blocked from separating/retiring until after the deployment? I had heard rumors AFRC was trying to make it harder to separate if you were tasked with a deployment but haven’t heard anything about the Guard. Thanks!

Honest question, does anyone truly believe or trust what the Air Force says anymore? How soon before AFPAK hands becomes filled by non-vols? I’m guessing the next assignment cycle.

I love how people are attacking Dak Prescott for saying that the anthem is not the time to protest but that if someone comes up with a plan to do something about social injustice that he would be first in line to actually DO SOMETHING about it. I guess kneeling is much easier than actual change.
