  1. I looked into buying from AAFES while deployed. You pay way too much for the car. It's better to go through USAA or get a True Car price report and negotiate with a dealer. I ended up custom ordering a Mustang through my local dealer and got it about 4K cheaper than AAFES. The exception is if you want a special edition car like a GT500. Dealers typically charge over MSRP for special edition cars and you have to buy what they have in stock. AAFES sells the special edition cars below MSRP so it is a way better deal.
  2. If he was a plant wouldn't someone on the right helped him campaign (suggest ads, banners, pins, anything)? It doesn't seem as if he did anything a normal politician would do to get elected.
  3. CJCS visited CHS yesterday. Base theater is packed. He talks for a few minutes then asked if anyone had any questions. ROE was we were to ask anything we wanted. Some legit questions were asked then a young REMF Lt whined about not having BK in Kandahar. Then a SSgt asked why "they" denied her claim for TA, which resulted in her having to pay $500 for the class, yada yada yada. ADM Mullen asked her who "they" were? Her reply was (insert attitude) "The Charleston AFB education center" immediately you could hear the sighs and gasps in the crowd. Absolutely hilarious. Edit: To add that the SSgt is in the Trans Squadron.
  4. I thought that was classic. I was laughing my ass off as soon as she started talking... There's a reason you're driving a bus, stick with that.
  5. In heavies we call it a "Banner Cert" I've said way too much...
  6. You said you went to field training with him. Is he cool or not? You're not Charlie or Mike are you? Just kidding, but has anyone asked him about that horrible decision on his arm?
  7. Maybe it's the herbivore in me. That's a great idea to give him a callsign. Unfortunately, we don't do callsigns in the C-17. So where do we draw the line? If they had all died that day would it still be as funny? My only point from the beginning was that we all have folks that have screwed up in the jet. He won't learn anything by being ridiculed for the rest of his career. I think Zrooster shacked it. We haven't had any issues dodging potholes in Q-West FWIW, there is a bigger issue with the AC back flying again. I don't think he should be in the jet. Our leadership is more focused on PME, AAD, SARC, MEO, PFT, Blues Monday, etc. It has gotten out of hand. More with less will only work for so long. Like you said, this aint no puss game.
  8. Or how about the view from a hilltop in Jackson Hole or Puerto Rico or maybe on an extended HAR track in OEF. I'm a prior Herk guy, I had at least one friend on board of each of those crashes who was either seriously injured or killed. My only point is this sounds more and more like a C-17 bashing thread when the Herk community has suffered their fair share of losses due to pilot error. I'm all for good fun, I'm not sure bagging on a guy that made a mistake that he will carry for the rest of his career is the best place for humor.
  9. Wow, awesome. Good to know the C-17 community is the only one to suffer a class A as a result of crew error. How's the view from up there?
  10. Ladies, I could save you some money! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S3C4AC908w
  11. I’m not condoning the punitive actions against flag officers. Has anyone here known anyone kicked out of UPT for a DUI or any other formal school? That is a career/dream ender for many, even if they get to continue their military career. I would argue that the 4-star he reports to thinks ending his career is punishment enough.
  12. He wants to meet young women, NOT, young men.
  13. Sounds like a crappy deal for the dog. Wait until you're done with training or until you're married to get a dog. My .02
  14. Spider monkeys throwing feces at each other over queep.
  15. I found this picture showing the pilot of the F-16 prior to this flight!
  16. Oh Snap! It was my first trip in the C-17. Hungary/Romania, they're both the same, right?
  17. Thanks; again to my buddy CHBufton.
  18. Prayers for the crew and family. Fox Link
  19. First days of OIF, we were intercepted by a pair of Romanian MiG 29s Low Level out West Number 5 of a 5 ship Props to my friend CHBufton for letting me use the pictures he took on our flight.
  20. I think the 315th has been letting folks go, they are a little top heavy from what I've heard. If you aren't already a C-17 guy it is going to be really tough to get into the unit. Especially now that the AF has to let 5000 go. If any C-17 pilots are asked to leave I would suspect they'll be knocking on the 315th's door.
