  1. If you get renters to sign a one year lease, you can include the rent as income with most banks. So, if your mortgage is $1200, and you charge $1500 rent you should be able to negotiate a good rate with most banks for an additional loan.
  2. Shiner Bohemian Black Lager, agreed, pretty good beer. When I'm able, I'll grab a case of Köstritzer Schwarzbier in Germany. Similar to the Shiner black, but better flavor.
  3. That's pretty cool. I'm not familiar with Valhalla. But, then again, I'm new to the AR market. Is EO tech just the big name in this market which allows them to charge more? Is the a difference, in your opinion, on the quality between the two brands?
  4. I'm looking at getting a new sight for an AR. I'm leaning towards the EO tech XPS2. Anyone have experience they can share?
  5. Damn it! That's the third time I've attempted to buy PMags this year. They are sold out within 30 minutes.
  6. Deployment rates are about to change. No more 4 month deployments. I have had some not so good deal trips. I've been on many awesome trips too. You surely can move more cargo with Fred. Based on reliability rates, I doubt you move anything faster. TACC treats all of their assets like shit, if you think they intend to hook you up because you're a Fred crew, well I feel bad for you. As far as spending days in Afcrapistan, I have no idea what you're talking about. I've spent the night in the Stan once in ten years. The C-17 isn't a Herk (got it). We do get to do some awesome tactical airlift still. I've been fortunate to do airdrop supporting FOBs and I've been to some places in the world that no C-5 would be able to go.
  7. Do not take an FAA test cold. This is your future in civilian aviation. If you fail an FAA exam you don't want to have to answer that question in an interview or application.
  8. No significant changes. I'm a N.Chas resident for ten years now, it's going downhill. There are still some reasonable places in N. Chas, but be careful. If you're married, Daniel Island, Mt. Pleasant, and West Ashley is where I'd move if I could, in order. DI is expensive, but the market is good. If you buy in DI and live there for three years, you'll likely make the most on the investment. I still kick myself for not buying in DI. Houses for sale for 200K in 2003 topped out in the mid 600K in 2007. They now sell for mid 300K. Barring any additional economic factors I predict a gradual increase in value. My bet is a 300K house in DI will sell for mid 400K in the next three to four years. Don't take my word for it though, I'm only a pilot...
  9. While discussing the PFT with my SQ/CC he told me the WG/CC required his commanders to score an excellent. Don't score an excellent on the PFT lose your squadron. This was the same WG/CC that required a 100% on closed book tests. "There's only one passing grade on closed book exams in my wing, 100%." Thankfully, that WG/CC is long gone.
  10. Even if SWA never hires, I would go back to Higher Power in a heartbeat. One of the best training experiences in my career. If you're not in the mood for v1 cuts in a light twin, HPA is the place to go.
  11. My friend placed his order here in our office about three hours ago. They said they are out of stock. The woman taking my friends order said she toured the S&W factory this week and they had literally thousands of ARs preparing to ship. My buddy paid for his AR already and his will ship when they recieve their next shipment. She speculated they would get another pallet in the next two weeks. I suspect he'll receive his AR mid-January. In order to get the $100 rebate all he needs is the serial number. He's already recieved a dated receipt. Try calling the Quantico branch in the AM. Good luck!
  12. The guys at Quantico are able to ship to an FFL in your area. You can place an order now and get it in a couple weeks. Edit: speeling
  13. The prices offered by Quantico Tactical are really good. Had a friend just order a rifle with them. They told him the prices they offer to the military are because they are the only S&W military direct vendor FWIW.
  14. The military discount is being offered by S&W. You can get that rebate at any gunshop until 31 Dec. The rebate form is available on S&W's website http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_757803_-1_757797_757797_image edit: added link to rebate
  15. I did the same thing today on a Colt 6920SOCOM. A little pricey, but still below the MSRP.
  16. Can't be found here, unless you want to pay $10/can or pack. I brought enough for the duration of my time here. That'd be my recommendation.
  17. There are many of "us" that deploy for 4 months. Even more of us deploy for 2 months.
  18. If I remember correctly(it's been a few years), there's an air refueling track that Altus uses over Iowa. I'm not sure where you are in Iowa, but I would guess they were going to meet up with a tanker.
  19. Thanks for this. It gave me an excuse to get some more rounds.
  20. Not really, I was handed a T-6 with 2 years time on station as an AD examiner. Our squadron got 7 must fills on top of regular assignments this past Spring, same for this last cycle. Five of us were AD (2 ACAD, 3 CPAD). Luckily, I was able to opt out and retire. The rest didn't have that option. This is the standard at Charleston and McChord these days. The rumor is it's the same at Travis, McGuire, and Dover too, but I can't confirm. I would suspect that AFPC can't sustain this PCS rate forever. We were told we are overmanned. Tell that to my family that's seen me about 69 days this year.
  21. According to AFPC, we are overmanned. Most first tour guys at the big bases these days are min turning the C-17 (2.5-3 years). A quick upgrade to AC and off to a UAV or MC-12, never to return. The other option is back to flying T-6s. That could change in a couple years, but it's the current reality. I can't speak for the the PACAF crowd. The mission makes it worth the risk, it's a great jet. I'd still roll the dice and go for a C-17.
  22. Tell the truth! Don't "forget" to include any details. Good luck.
  23. How's it misleading? So, all a dude has to do is say he's transgender and he can whip out his junk in college girls locker room? Wow!
  24. Has UPT changed so much in the last 10 years that you need to study all of this in advance? I was told to learn the boldface and enjoy my time off prior to starting. Or does learning the pattern and general pilot regs prior to starting UPT give you that extra time in the evenings to bust out that masters prior to the O3 board? Unless that's the case, I recommend spending some time with your family/friends.
  25. You're correct. I did both (sts) and my SURF says something like SOS Res/Non-Res. In the end as long as you get it done it doesn't matter the course version.
