Brother the best thing you can do is work hard. Keep your grades up, do well on the fitness test and approach things with a humble attitude. Your cadre will likely want to get to know you since you'll be "competing" with folks they already know for field training, career fields, etc. When they do, be honest about your goals but dont be the pilot or nothing kid. Show them you are willing to work and be a team player and things will be fine.

Never hurts to ask. They may not be able to predict a few weeks out, but they can definitely give you their current occupancy rate and you can make a better decision based on that.

I agree with jaded, don't specifically name the operation but you can def include bullets from it but I would use something like OCO in its place.

We herk guys are the worst, we like to tell our life stories every time we key the mic. But nothing is worse than a clear, concise and correct radio call to ATC or 2 and getting "say again" in return, only to restate the call or having to explain the brevity that you used.

The way to handle this is just like everybody has said. Get a non-a or document it yourself and don't interact with lodging again. Don't get upset and make a scene or give them reason to "punish" you for being a jerk. If you are worried about a cc ordering you back on base then go the route of an MFR and don't ever mention your squadron to lodging.
