  1. The website tells you everything you NEED to bring. http://asbc.maxwell.af.mil/index.htm
  2. I like a lot of country and classic rock... Toby Keith Alan Jackson Brooks n Dunn Billy Joel Steely Dan Chicago
  3. Hells yes... I'd be curious how many mx and support guys from WWII got pissed because the the heritage stemming from WWII wasn't from what they did? I'd be willing to bet none. Everybody seems to take the "we can't get the job done without the support folks" mantra too far; they seem to think that their little piece of the pie is somehow more important than any other person's job and thus are entitled to giving you grief for bothering them (read: make them do some work). I'm really not trying to bash support folks (too hard anyway) because it is true, flyers rely on them to be able to go out and fly the mission. But just like HerkDerka said, we are the Air Force, not the Personnel force or the Finance Force. That is why our heritage is about flying and if people don't like that they should have joined another service.... oh wait, the Navy's heritage is about driving ships and the Army's/USMC's is about putting boot to ass... no mention of finance or personnel anywhere. bottomline.... heritage should be about the mission and ours is to fly, fight ant win (not that sovereign, cyberspace stuff).
  4. We all know soldiers don't wear anything but their uniform (ie. all the people in the PX, at McDonalds, etc wearing PT gear on the weekend). Seriously though... I've noticed this too. It may have to do with guys flying to/from a deployment. I know at BWI and CLT there are 2-3 rotators a week. But who knows... it is the Army.
  5. Why do you need this info anyway jimmy? If it's that important, why not stroll into the aero department and ask them using the figures you already found?
  6. I was kinda in the same situation as you... only I was missing records from the 4-12 yr range. It's not a big deal, you just have to send them a memo stating what you do not have and why. I think you have to give them contact info so that they can verify that you do, infact not have records available for the given time period. As far as the dermatologist goes, you will most likely have to include that as it is a medical record. Don't know how long DODMERB takes, probably dependent on how much stuff you have for them to sort through. Hope this helps.
  7. only because its cheap right?
  8. At OSU, I'd say less than 10% of the pilot/nav/abm types are arnies. AAS at our det for the most part has gone down hill since I got there. From what I hear, it used to be full of high speed types but that is def not the case now. The drill team is where it's at at OSU Agree with what's been said above, AAS may have an indirect positive effect on getting a pilot slot but def not a direct help. Go Bucks!
  9. Cyber Command can't get here soon enough
  10. I'm not sure of the exact wording of the zoo's honor code, but if it contains language along the lines of "we will not lie steal or cheat" then they should get kicked out. Guarantee if a ROTC or OTS guy/gal got caught cheating on something they'd be out like a fat kid in dodgeball. Not too fond of the whole "take time to fix the problem amongst yourselves" deal either. Pretty sure some upperclassmen are gonna get pissed at some underclassmen who are gonna cry hazing which will bring on even more sh!t. Just my .02 I guess Edit: Saw Dunce's post right after I posted, "But half those cadet that get kicked out just go to ROTC and are still officers anyways." Thats a big problem. If you get kicked out of one commissioning source why should you just be able to go to another one? I know that if you get kicked out of ROTC then you become ineligible to be commissioned into the AF. Not trying to get into a ROTC vs Academy pissing match but its def BS for an Academy kid to be able to do that. Still just my .02
  11. What kind of college has a dance? OSU let organizations do a campus cleanup program... basically you clean up a section of campus every week and make like 2K a qtr.
  12. Definitely a Makers fan... not gonna lie, just had a few. Knob Creek is pretty good too.
  13. If you consolidate your student loans you should be able to get down close to the 2% or whatever it is that USAA offers. To answer your question tertle, I've known people who have done that. But I buy into the whole 'don't take out loans to pay for another loan.' Just an opinion, but yes it has been done.
  14. TIP, usaf said a F-15 has a HUD and is rated for high G's, not the T-6.
  15. I thought you had to march everywhere on base
  16. Sounds like the Col got a call from the superintendent at the academy (3-star)... 2 on the "special" ride, hopefully he will hate every minute of it
  17. Makes me wonder what they teach at the zoo
  18. Talking to a few casual guys with the 77 FS at Shaw last year told me they got rides in the viper about twice a month. Whether that has changed or if it all depends on who the CC is at the time is probably a different story.
  19. Tertle... you've gotten the advice that you came for (sts) from a lot of experienced individuals. However, it seems like you keep changing your story/options you are considering in an attempt to get the response you want from everybody (that it's ok to go live in the sandbox). Its time to stop discussing it online and make your decision. Like everybody else, I'm anxious to hear what you decide and what the outcome is.
  20. Maybe try the language emersion thing that ROTC offers in the Summer if you are really interested in learning about the muslim culture. They'll send you somewhere safe and it will be officially sanctioned by the AF. Agree with everyone else, if you want to go hang out in the sandbox on your own for a year you can def kiss that Security Clearance and possibly commission goodbye.
  21. Just know that it is going to suck. However, even though it sucks you can still find humor in a lot of things there that will help you get through. -Be a water monitor, you can look around at all the other cadets shoveling food in their mouths and talk with the other water monitors under your breath. Not to mention the fact that you get to come inside (air conditioning) as soon as you get to the chow hall. -Be goofy. Shouldn't be too hard since you'll be exhausted the whole time. Being goofy will keep you and your flightmates entertained. Just don't get carried away with it. -Motivational PT... you will be in awesome shape by the end of FT, you can really piss your CTA off by wanting to do a lot of reps during motivational PT. Since they have to do it with you, they will have to do the added reps and will not be happy since they don't PT any other time of the day. (PS. Its awesome when your flight can do more pushups than your CTA). -Watch people fall asleep in the theater. They will be clearly asleep but argue that they weren't when they get caught. Just make the best of it and find little things that will keep you amused during FT and you will do fine... its only 4 weeks (6 for some) and hey... its not Iraq
  22. ROTC DG along with freefall wings, and the marksmanship ribbon from field training are the only things that continue with you once you commission. ROTC DG will appear on your OPR for your first assignment.
