Travis psychiatrist charged with sexual assault, rape
Twenty bucks is twenty bucks. I'm a sole breadwinner, man.

So, why even allow the Senior Rater to allocate DPs and Ps? If the board is just going to override the decision, why even give the WG/CCs the decision at all? Just remove the check box and let the board decided if that person is a DP or P.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Apparently it's not our job to kill things anymore. The irony is that there are probably plenty of articles out there with far more details about weapons drops and shooting terrorists that are still considered "just fine" by AF PA. I don't understand why we are so bi-polar when it comes to recognizing that the Air Force is a military branch, and therefore, that we kill people and break things.

317 AW (Dyess) commander removed over ‘toxic environment’
Welcome to AFGSC, where not a single WG/CC is in charge of a base that houses the MDS they grew up in. Both B-52 WG/CCs are B-1 guys by trade, both B-1 WG/CCs are B-52 guys.

Travis psychiatrist charged with sexual assault, rape
I think you're missing the part where these women were already in treatment for things like rape and sexual assault. I wouldn't call their judgement regarding the person who was supposed to make them whole again "impartial". It's the same reason Larry Nassar was able to get away with it for so long. People invest a certain level of confidence in their doctors to know what they are doing and to have the patient's best interests at heart.

It's Official, OCPs are Coming!
You can always wear the blues. I, for one, am looking forward to no longer blousing the pants the way you do with ABUs.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
They're starting to care about pilots resigning.

Meanwhile, I work with the one guy who had a DP checked, and still got passed over to Lt Col. The civilian lady told him: 1. You didn't have enough FGO awards and 2. The board didn't think your DP was legit based on the other strats in the PRF.

Military appreciation has jumped the shark
Noted. I'll lump that in with your opinion on reenlistment ceremonies.

Military appreciation has jumped the shark
Agreed. You mean I get the privilege of sitting in this tin can with no leg room for an extra twenty minutes? Gee, thanks. The biggest perk is that the registration is free, and renewing it is $5 instead of the standard $80~ish. You better believe I'm willing to display an Air Medal to save $75.

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
On the other hand, it means even a two-month deployment will be enough to keep you out of the 365 WEZ for five years.

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
The way they said it was that you'd be ineligible for a 365 for five years, not just the bottom of the list. Sorry if that was misleading. Take a deployment in year 15 and you'll be good until retirement.

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
So in a recent webinar with our AFPC reps, we were told some useful and interesting information to help stave off that 365. From the functionals, at least 45 consecutive days deployed will put you on the bottom of the 365 list for 5 years. So, if you're an attached guy worried about that looming 365, see if you can't offer some guest help on a deployment (or even half of one). It does not protect you from any of the multitude of 179s out there, though.

They are definitely just trying to take care of themselves, especially when the guys passed over to Lt Col on the IPZ board are told things like "It's because you didn't have enough FGO awards in your record". You better believe I'm putting in a 1206 every damn quarter for an FGO award.

Well, you have to understand that as a 17D, he does not have the same kind of people working for him that you have working for you. "You're all adults and professionals" works well in squadrons that are predominantly officer, in AFSCs that already require discipline and attention to detail. It works less well when you have an airman or A1C less than a year out of BMT and who still barely has a grasp adult life, let alone the expectations of the Air Force.

Based on the rate LtCols are getting out, we're gonna need more, not less.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Just read this article that articulates my feelings pretty well - there are a lot of legitimate issues veterans and service members should be upset about. This re-enlistment isn't one of them.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
I wonder if that meets BahsiChuni's standard for a respectful reenlistment ceremony...?

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Why? Why is it different? Because it's "cooler"? Because you approve of it? It wasn't appropriate, but this is not a career-ending offense. Especially in an Air Force where a chief who drives drunk and kills someone is allowed to retire as a chief, and where a senior officer guilty of massive sexual misconduct and abuse of power was given the same punishment - retire as a Lt Col. The implication is clear - wrong-doing is only punished if it might cause awkward questions for senior leadership.
-
What's wrong with the Air Force?
Just don't do it on camera. It might embarrass a senior officer.
-
What's wrong with the Air Force?
Seems pretty excessive to me, especially given the light punishments that accompany actual wrong-doing so often. The message is clear - fuck up all you want, but don't embarrass the Air Force in public.
