At $859 a piece, I don't really consider this a 'good deal' anymore. I have seen the MP-15 OR go for around $870 on KyGunCo and some other places. Bud's Police Supply is supposed to be a lot better than non-LE prices that other businesses offer. Since AR prices are getting close to the same way they were before the scare, I'd wait for Bud's LE to sell these around $750 again. Just my opinion for those interested in one of these AR's.

I could care less if a person no longer in the military wants to get a aex change, as long as my tax dollars don't pay for it. It's not a valid argument though insupport of wanting to allow women into the SEAL community...unless the doctors missed something, she was a he while serving in the Navy. Because everyone who has ever moved (for whatever reason) goes to live in a hotel for the rest of their lives. It's a fair question to ask--does an event such as these storms cause people to reexamine whether they want to continue to live in a certain location, regardless if they lost their house or not? I'm willing to bet at least one person in the greater OKC area is now deciding to move away due to the recent storms.

You could have said the same thing back several months ago concerning the summer assignments. I agree that it will most likely be out in the next month or two, but given the government these days, who the hell knows. Very little surprises me these days.

I hate the idea of a draft. If our Republic was ever threatened to the point that it didn't have enough people to defend herself, then that is when the country will fall. If it's worth saving, then enough people will volunteer to stand up and fight for her, and if not enough people do, well then there's your answer to how people feel about their homeland and Freedom.

I think it's a fair question to ask. The way I see it about tornadoes is that they can definitely be devastating, but the odds of one of them taking out your house or hurting you is extremely low when compared to other natural disasters. Hurricanes seem to be much more devastating to property as it can affect much larger areas, though you have the health benefit of knowing when they are coming so you can get the fvck out of dodge. I personally don't want to live where there's any higher than average chance of natural disasters. Hopefully tonight's storms and tornadoes didn't kill anybody.

Only you can decide what's best for you and your family, and if you're comfortable with your decision, then good on you man...and more importantly, I thank you very much for your service. As for the actual assignments, in terms of promotion ability, I totally get it (doesn't sounds like you'll have an in resident IDE or equivalent credit). The O-5 promotion rate for non IDE guys is tough (around 47% with the ACSC correspondence and masters checked), and I'm sure if you were to break it down to the Squadron ADO type guys it gets even worse. So if you're not going be one of the top guys at Wing Safety or something, then then the chances aren't that great unfortunately. Would you have taken a staff job to a MAJCOM, or better if they had offered it, as those assignments offer much better promotional chances? The white jet/T-6 gig doesn't seem like it would be all that enjoyable (regardless of whether your a fixed wing guy or a rotor wing guy). You fly a lot, but you don't really to get 'fly'. Plus it seems like those guys put in some crazy long days and always have to be in that 'UPT mindset'. I'd much rather be an MWS school house IP as you get to do a lot of different types of flying, and IP upgrades are actually fun sorties when you get to play the student, plus you get to actually fly on those. As for the RPA assignments, meh, it has its pros and cons--but if you wouldn't at all enjoy it, then it's probably a good call. Let us know how it plays out! ETA: Changed PME to masters

Ahh...such a beautifully written piece by a liberal hack who is a poor substitute for a real journalist. Well, 2 years ago the Air Force separated over 157 twice passed over Majors...which most likely did not help the Air Force much as they didn't do it again and offered continuation the following year to almost all the Majors passed twice passed over. I believe the Air Force realized the damage was done though. If (and I agree, it's a big 'if') the Air Force is concerned about retention rates, it's not outside the realm of possibility that they offer a similar bonus package to what they did in the 90's, ie longer bonuses that go to 20 years. At that point, the Air Force can better predict what their pilot numbers will be because they have commitments from X amount of pilots. If I were a betting man, I'd say the bonus is the exactly the same as last year...eventually we will see.

I was asking because you sounded like you had information outside of what the media has been presenting. The acquisition process is crazy (and a little disheartening)--any hickups along the way with operational analysis', development test, etc getting delayed/having issues can then that can push the IOC date further to the right. Don't get me wrong, I speculate with the best of them...I usually just try to list why I speculate a certain way.

Are you aware that any of the timelines in the acquisition timeline has shifted recently? ie DT&E, IOT&E, etc?
