  1. Ahhh, I forgot the qoutation marks...that makes a difference.
  2. I got an article slamming Clinton and the Democrats. Is that really going to piss off 90% of this board? Maybe I got a different article than the one you were refering to.
  3. A while back there was a person on a forum posing as an F-16 pilot during OIF. She/He suckered alot of guys, but I think it was finally Toro who came in and busted her...Here is the link, it's kind of long but well worth the read, a good break from the 'Meltdown' thread! The Princess Diaries!
  4. Financial: Civilian - mucho cash! Military - not so much Family life: Civilian - Fly 1 week a month, stay at home rest of time Military - Fly to exotic places like Iraq/Afghanistan/UAE for 3 months at a time...family life - not so much Prof Opportunities: Civilian - fly till you retire Military - get out and get job with airlines Main difference - You don't get shot at in civilian aircraft, unless you're flying in exotic places (see above!)
  5. Just be glad you didn't get Cannon AFB, NM....truly the worst base I have ever been stationed at!!! I'd rather have cold and snow than constant 25-30 kt winds blowing dust and sand everywhere in 90-100 degree heat!
  6. The 50th AS (H3's) and the 61st AS (E's...converting to H3's I believe) are the AMC squadrons The 53rd and 62nd are the training squadrons. Not sure what they are flying.
  7. ...and no, you are not allowed to be on the same mission. We've got a few flyers married to other flyers in our squadron and they cannot fly together. Join Spouse is not guaranteed by the AF, they just do the best they can...my wife and I (both military) spent a good year and half apart working the join spouse issue! [ 27. 8. Oh, because it's so far off...yeah, I get it. Dealing with TMO is a pain no matter how much time you have.
  9. 2006!?! That's at least 8 months! Try doing it in 2 weeks!! To an overseas location no less...
  10. I don't know about the rest of the overseas bases but the clubs at Kadena are pretty nice. I say "clubs" because we have an Airmans Club, an NCO club and an O'Club...good food at all three and the Airmans club is pretty hoppin' on a Friday night (not much consolation for the O's...sorry). From what I've seen on my limited trips to the O'club, they seem to do pretty well too. Now if we could only get Dos Gringo's to do an overseas tour we'd be set!!
  11. This should be a Hall of Fame thread....started downhill right off the bat... Funny stuff!! By the way, in my opinion, scarves are

  13. As for Heavy Aircraft..I think he's talking about Min rnwy length requirement that is in the regs for each particular a/c, the one that says you need X amount of runway to take-off (regardless of weight), as opposed to a minimum take-off distance. 14. Just got word today that everybody in PACAF after 9/11 gets the GWOT-S medal.... Looks like it IS turning into the National Defense Service Medal....Dammit! Now I have to go buy another rack , another $2.50 I could have spent on
  15. I thought the Wright Brothers flew out of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina??
  16. DID THAT!! But I was at the schoolhouse (53rd) and a brand new FE...It's like the nose gear pin, those that have and those that will!
  17. Maybe he's a pilot and one of his rules is "I can write anything I want even if it doesn't make sense." Ref. rule #1
  18. One of the AAFES vending machines on Camp Foster PX exploded. Had the OSI boys foaming at the mouth...think it turned out to be a faulty compressor or something like that. That sent out emails not to go near AAFES vending machines...yeah, like I would anyways... AAFES - Asian American Female Employment Services
  19. No such luck in the E-3, we don't carry them or have them...EVERYONE goes down with the ship!! Although I hear the FCF crews wear them during an FCF.
  20. Yeah, but then you gotta make sure you have ice on hand, clean the puke out of the bucket from the last party, ect...Sometimes you just wanna pull the tap and get a frosty beer at 2 in the morning...
  21. Get ready to have some fun! I've been up to Yokota several times from Okinawa and always have fun. The base is very nice, new BX/Commissary, nice O'Club, great food off-base. The train system in Japan is great. There is a train station about a 10 minute walk from the back gate (near billeting). You can take it anywhere. Tokyo is a blast! Mt. Fuji, skiing in Misawa, plenty of available trips all over the Pacific through ITT Travel, mt. biking, hiking, lots to do. If you've got kids you can take the train to Tokyo Disney, or go by yourself for the "kid" in you. You'll probably be getting to Japan this summer which means "Typhoons"! You guys sometimes evac down here to Okinawa, which means mucho partying and per diem! Not really sure on the stuff you really want to know, housing , vehicle, stuff like that. Congrats and hope you enjoy Japan!

    side slips?

A slip and cross-controlling in a xwind I believe are two different things. You can still cross-control in an aircraft and fly coordinated, your nose is just not pointed in the direction of the runway, but your wings remain level, or the upwind wing is dipped into the wind slightly(right?). A slip, as mentioned above, would be kicking the rudder opposite to the wing down side (in a turn) and allowing the aircraft to slip through the air, creating more of a descent than a normal coordinated turn. Just a guess, I'm only an FE...I'm sure someone could probably explain it better...
  23. Tyler they don't fly the F-15 in space! :D Really though, if you're giving a brief then alot of good info is in Jane's, and try Google. What kind of info are you looking for?
  24. You should get all this information when you go to your TMO brief. Weight depends mostly on location and whether you're single or married with dependents.
  25. I don't know if this was staged or not but it's funny none the less....future O'Club regular?? Academy Boogie
