    Scam???

"Discuss general topics in Military Aviation, TDY - Travel, Finance, and all else...." You are being rude...if you don't like the topic, move on!! General Discussion means just that...general..
  2. I'd recommend "The Passing of the Night" by Gen Robbie Risner. My wife got that when she went to ALS. Great book. "Flyboys" was also an excellent read, although the section on GWB was only a few pages as he was not taken prisoner on Chichi Jima, but he was bombing the radio station on that island. Tom Clancy's "Fighter Wing" is also pretty good. I think we should have a "Base.Ops reading list" than the CSAF's list. [ 04. February 2005, 09:12: Message edited by: Mambo ]

    POW?

I can't believe you guys would make a mockery of an American soldier captur.....I'm sorry, I can't even type that without laughing my a$$ off. Do you think that CBS will report that as being true? They've got a pretty good track record, right? Too funny.
  4. Maybe it was only 1 HH-60 and the other 6 computer generated...
  5. Man...our guys here don't do unrestricted climbs on their way to a TDY....maybe I should let them know that they are doing them in the states so our guys can do that too... By the way, did that jet going from Miami to Las Vegas have any external tanks on it??? But of course I'll go see it first chance I get, it's gotta be better than that other AF movie...Iron Eagle I, II and III.
  6. We're forced to wear them here (Kadena). Luckily you are only authorized to get one!!! "Mambo, where is your scarf?" "Sorry sir, my daughter put it in her Easy Bake oven and now it's toast..." Problem solved...
  7. Help with Comm Maybe this will help...
  8. WHAP, you better get used to this new generation of future officers dogg! It's gonna be kickin'. They are the shizzle da' nizzle homie. If ya' need the 411 on it, look up any new LT and you'll be trippin' at how they are like, straight outta MTV ROTC dogg...It's whack! Word!
  9. ...You mean like the top lawyer in the Air Force committing the same crimes that he kicked people out for, then doesn't get any punishment other than a reduction in his retirement paygrade...Yeah, that doesn't tarnish AF integrity! Not like a couple of studs memorizing answers to a test, wow...now that is a black eye for the AF...
  10. Once again, this is why Toro is THE MAN...takes on the responsibilies and steps up to the plate when needed...

    W-2's

I just logged onto MyPay and the 2004 W-2's are in...at least for me anyways.
  12. Thank God I sit in the front of the plane!
  13. OMFG...that is the most f*cked up thing I have ever seen... The kicker was seeing the female singing along...
  14. IFE - In Flight Emergency Stick jockey - Fighter pilot BUFF (B-52) Big Ugly Fat F*ck B1-RD - Bird...ex "Do you see that B1-RD on short final?" CGU-11 - Sea Gull...ex "Yes, but it looks like a CGU-11, not a B1-RD" (This really confuses co-pilots) The following 3 are used by stick jockeys and ABM's that want to pretend they're stick jockeys: Container - a box Skull, cranium - your HEAD Bo-at - a boat Trash and Ass - Herk saying for hauling cargo and pax. Eng - Flight engineer FE - Flight engineer God - Flight engineer HMFIC - Flight engineer
  15. The guys here at Kadena (the 909th) have also recently picked up the medivac mission...not sure how most of them are liking it. I think they have 1 jet on alert at all times just for the AES stuff...if anyone here is 909th, maybe you could elaborate...
  16. EML (Enviromental Morale Leave) orders are given when you are at an overseas location...that being said, some places considered overseas don't have EML orders...I believe Alaska is one of them. EML orders are given in conjuction with your regular leave, you can have them typed up by your orderly room...what EML orders do is get you to a higher CAT for Space A when traveling FROM an overseas location...not TO an overseas location, although when traveling back overseas you can sign up Space A at the higher CAT that got you to the states.... SO...about your friend in Guam. His wife, if not command sponsored is considered a dependent only. If you read a little further down that website, it says: Where and when can my family members travel with me? Answer: Except EML, Emergency Travel, and Command Sponsored Category V, family members must be accompanied by the sponsor to fly Space A. Family members may travel to/from and between overseas locations but not within the CONUS unless manifested on domestic leg segments of international travel. Looks like he'd have to fly back and travel with her if they wanted to use Space A.
  17. Toro, was that a command sponsored letter or EML orders your wife had to get?...two different things. If it was an accompanied tour then she should have been able to use Space A without authorization. Command sponsorship is on your original orders sending you somewhere, if his wife is command sponsored then she should be on his orders to Guam, although I doubt she would be if it was a remote tour. EML orders just bump you up to CAT 2 with sponsor, CAT 3 without...at least I think thats right. It's been awhile since I've traveled Space A
  18. So in the Air Force's opinion... a day of bowling and picnics will prevent suicides? What a joke, bring back the good ol' days where flying and fixing airplanes was the priority! If I have to sit through anymore of these stupid briefs, I may off myself...maybe someone can take me bowling so I won't really do it!
  19. There's a reason their called the "Gucci Boys".
  20. Yeah, for the most part our pilots are pretty good on systems by the time they get to be AC's. And on the newer aircraft the systems can monitor themselves and even re-route signals as needed. The commercial world knew this years ago when they started getting rid of their FE's. The current versions of FMS's and GPS, approaches that display on MFD's, flight plans and threat area's on MFD's, advanced avionics, it's no wonder the Nav is on the way out too. But as I've heard some pilot's say...it's nice to have an extra set of eyes and an extra aircrew on the jet. Oh well, maybe I will go back to maintenence and fix jets again...
  21. Many, many beers for AWACker...you have hit the nail on the head...that's right I said HEAD!!!! Here's my bich...ABMer's that think they are fighter pilots just because they talk like them...guess what, you're not...get over it, ACT NORMAL!!! By the way AWACker...LOVE your website!!!!! Mambo the FE
  22. Apperently not because they are designing us right out of the Air Force...ie, C-130J, C-17. We are just not needed in the new aircraft, and I'm sure that the Nav's are feeling the love too. What better way to save money than to get rid of the guy that tells you where to go and the guy who knows all the systems.
  23. navobd...totally agree! Except for not going to cool places. If you want to go to cool places come to Kadena...Korea (great shopping), Thailand, Australia, mainland Japan, Vegas, Alaska. Seems like everyone at Tinker *****es about being there but never wants to leave. We've had a nav here get the Airborne Laser and a pilot get T-6's. We have "fat kids" parties over here with the RJ's, Tankers and Helo guys, (basically no fighter geeks). Not a bad time.
  24. For those interested... AFI 36-2903 Dress and Appearance states: Flight Cap...worn slightly to the wearer's right with vertical crease of the cap in line with the center of the forehead, in a straight line with the nose; the cap extends approximately 1 inch from the eyebrow in the front... Nothing about a crush, which means there is room for interpatation. Your local supplement to this AFI may cover something on it but I doubt it. So what is your guys take on enlisted flyers wearing the TAC/Bomber/Fighter crush? I'm pretty sure they were wearing the same hats as the pilots on DC-3's, B-17's ect... And could someone PLEASE post a photo of the correct way so we can get on with it....
  25. In Saudi we used to pour a can of Coke in the wash to get hydraulic fluid and oil out of our DCU's. Worked really well.
