And we think our procurement process is broken...
Hard to believe you could buy 3 B-2s for the cost of one of those...

3. Well said.

More Uniform Changes!
Yeah, I'm retarded...

More Uniform Changes!
Different rotator, but as I stated I wore my desert flight suite on rotators while in AMC, and I wasn't alone.

More Uniform Changes!
Checks, and that includes deployments with my previous SQ and on the "cattle car" out of Lackland/Kelly.

Leadership at the 'Deid
That's part of the problem. Why is it a bad idea? No one supports them. That's our job. Give the LTs (and Capts) top cover whenever possible (as long as they're in the right). There's a fine line but we're so far over to one side of it right now that it almost doesn't matter.

I Hate Reflective Belts
I don't think the sky cops even do that. I call bullshit on this guy.

Kudos to Southwest Pilot...
Wish we could get someone like Chuck Lidell to throw HIS ass around the room for a few hours. See how tough this piece of shit is when it's not a 2YO he's dealing with.

Revenge of the MX officer
Hmmm, I had assumed that it was true globally. In my case Barksdale definitely had flightline MX under ops until at least July '02.
-
Revenge of the MX officer
Clever. Not the same. I worked in MX under ops from 2000-2002...I think '02 is when the system officially changed...at leaste in ACC. Checks. Each system has/had it's advantages and disadvantages.

Preventing Air Show Crashes
Well, I'm certainly no "senior Captain", but I flew the plane long enough to know there's nothing wrong with doing an air show demo in it as long as you follow the rules. I know plenty of DOV and OGV types in the community that would agree.
-
Preventing Air Show Crashes
Totally disagree. The plane is capable of more than that and crews train to do more than that. A good demo (from the perspective of the target audience) can be accomplished safely within the limits of the -1.

C-17 Down on Elmendorf
There's a process for that-that doesn't include the AF Times. Those that need to learn from it already have access to the pertinent information. This story was totally gratuitous and to me constitutes gossip, or journalistic rubbernecking. It's people who know jack shit about flying editorializing for an audience who also knows jack shit about it. Edit: Sorry, meant to say "the fucking AF Times".

Flying with Wing Leadership
My understanding is there is a max time in grade as Capt (high year tenure or something like that) and the only folks I know who were able to retire as O-3s were prior E with enough years in that it wasn't an issue...there's got to be more to this story....

Tax free/discounted vehicles overseas
Couldn't resist...I paid a (discounted) $48,000 for a 2002 vette...how times have changed. Anyway, I bought a car and a Harley through AAFES,and my wife bought a BMW (before we were married), all at a pretty good discount. Add Porsche to the list of makers that offer a discuount to US Military overseas, though they are hard to track down. As a note, the AFFES offer also applies to those deployed and most AF deployed locations have places you can go to work out the details.

Shipping POV to England?
I had similar experiences but it also depends on where you go. I brought a '97 vette (5 years old at the time) over with headers and straight pipes (no mufflers, but precats and cats remained). They didn't give me any crap about the exhaust but tried to fail me for excessive play in my front end and "low effort" on my e-brake. I asked them what the standards were for both items and how far off those standards I was. Turned out I was actually within standards on the e-brake and the front end wasn't even close to being out of limits. I later purchased a 83 Porsche 924 for $500 while there...it was practically a basket case. I brought it in for its MOT inspection and the only real issues were the emissions and the e-break. Advanced the timing and adjusted the e-brake and it (amazingly) passed. They were far less anal than the first place.

Interstate Cadet
How'd you get the CAF to loan it to you? Obviously you have some war bird experience, but I would think you would need to have a few connections too.

New AF Motto
How is that any different from any of our other mottos?
